Store, protect, and transport your RED RANGER camera and accessories with the black Porta Brace Lightweight Padded Backpack with Semi-Rigid Frame. This backpack's design allows it to also be used as a sling bag. An interior pouch can hold a tablet or iPad, and a clear vinyl cover allows you to use the iPad while inside the case. For protecting and organizing gear, the pack has a padded loop fabric interior lining with a hook-and-loop movable interior divider. The exterior has zippered pockets for batteries and other larger peripherals, as well as a side pocket for holding a small tripod, light stand, or other support gear. An adjustable strap above this pocket secures the midsection of the tripod.

A small pocket on the exterior has a clear window for your ID or business card. Carry the backpack with the top handle or by the padded shoulder straps with chest connector. The adjustable waist belt provides added comfort and stability on longer treks. A padded back panel improves cooling airflow and helps cushion the wearer's back. Included with the backpack are a camcorder cinch, carabiner flashlight, and a custom divider. The pack is constructed of tough and durable 1000D Cordura nylon.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. There's an antenna on the body but I can't find any information about what wireless functionality it provides. Camera control only through an app?

A: That is an External R.C.P. WiFi antenna. You are correct, this would be to use Apps with the camera. According to RED the most popular app is FoolControl, which does give you a wide variety of control over the camera.

Q: 2. Will this fit my Nikon 18-140 mm AFS-DX lens or should I get a different size?

A: Yes, the Porta Brace 4" Padded Lens Cup (Blue Tab), B&H # POPB4LCB, would be compatible for use with the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens.

Q: 3. Does this come with a torch accessory like the other cargo cases in the range?

A: Here are the following dimensions for the unit. Interior: 17.0 x 7.5 x 9.0" (43.18 x 19.05 x 22.86cm) Exterior: 23.0 x 10.0 x 10.5" (58.42 x 25.40 x 26.67cm)

Q: 4. Is this meant for production accessories only, or can it safely carry camera and lenses?

A: The PortaBrace RB-2 Lightweight Run Bag, Medium - for Audio and Video Production Accessories can accommodate a camera with lens or camera rig setup that fits in the the interior dimension of 21 x 9.5 x 7".

Q: 5. Would this be overkill for a Sound Devices 633, a few G4 receivers, and in future possibly the 633 expander by Marenius or Kortwich? Struggling to decide between this and the Portabrace AH-2M.

A: This would be a good option for the mixer and wireless mic systems you are planning to use. The extra padding and support will be of benefit, especially if you are planning on adding more gear to your bag in the future.

Q: 6. Does Shape sell the dovetail plate separately?

A: Only as a custom order. Contact Shape for more details!

Q: 7. Can I shoulder mount this camera? If so is there a fitting package?

A: You can shoulder mount the RED Ranger cameras. The RED DSMC2 shoulder rigs made by SHAPE, CAMVATE, Smallrig, ARRI, Zacuto, Bright Tangerine, etc. are all compatible.

Q: 8. Does this bag stand up independently?

A: Yes, it has a custom-molded & foam-padded back panel, which will hold it up.

Q: 9. What colour are the tabs on these? I would like two silver tabbed ones, but there doesn't seem to be an option to choose.

A: The color tabs on theses PortaBrace Padded 4" and 7" Lens Cups (Set of Two), would not be set. We have a large inventory and you can get different colors, currently there is no way to choose the color tab you would want.

Q: 10. Can this be used to safely carry a JCV GY-LS300?

A: The PortaBrace RB-2 Lightweight Run Bag, Medium - for Audio and Video Production Accessories (Blue) can safely carry a JVC GY-HC500U.

[Backpack Straps] Was able to consolidate four bags worth of lighting stuff into two and the price was great (on sale!). Porta-Brace products are top notch and so is B&H.

[Yes] Id been waffling on this bag for a few weeks, but pulled the trigger when Id acquired a Mamiya 7II to complete my kit. This bag is currently holding a Nikon F3 + Distagon 28mm, Leica M5 + Nokton 35, a Mamiya 7II + 80mm, and in the compartments, I have a Voigtlander 40mm for the Nikon, a Voigtlander 15mm for the Leica, an Elmarit 28mm for the Leica, and a 50mm for the Mamiya. Ive thrown in a bunch of rolls, a lens cleaning kit, some pens, and its still got the room for a 15-in MacBook if Im so inclined.

When I close that bag with all this gear and there is no bulge at all, despite the Mamiya being a little taller than the rest of the camera bodies. The straps are so well designed, it sits well on my shoulders and back, and even better when Ive gotten the sternum strap engaged. Feels like Im not carrying anything!

I also bought this bag for the zone system that Hex is advertising, and I think its pretty smart and going to work out for my use -- I could see a scenario where Ill be carrying one body on me, but Ill want to use another and just sliding the bag to my front and opening that panel is incredibly helpful. The added bonus is that you can adjust the zippers to your preference (left side, right side, or top)

The only drawback (its really minor, but bears noting) for me is the internal zippers for the different compartments. While its great that Hex took extra care in creating little pockets for the zipper head, Im still worried about the closed zipper slowly scratching the camera bodies, especially the Mamiya. The solution that seems to work for now is to put gaffer tape over the zipper.

All in all a really really great bag. Its unassuming, yet stylish, and keeps a slim enough profile to not call attention to the fact that you could be carrying so much important gear. The padding is more than adequate, and it all fits so snugly.

[RED RANGER] These are great stand bags. Heavy duty and well made. Keeps my stands nice and easy to travel. I've got nine light stands in one of these.
