Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the length of the boom arm when folded closed and the clamp removed?

A: The folded length of the Audio-Technica AT8700 Adjustable Microphone Boom Arm BH #AUAT8700 with the clamp removed is approximately 16 inches.

Q: 2. What is the minimum and maximum length between the pivot point/clamp and the mic thread?

A: The Atlas Sound PB21XEB boom arm extends from a minimum length of 25.25" to a maximum length of 38.50".

Q: 3. What is the length of this arm?

A: The Length of the D650 Junior Boom is 63.6 to 117.6' / 1.6 to 2.98 m

Q: 4. What is the thread size? What is the depth of of the female thread?

A: The only female thread on this item is that of the screw-down mechanism (thumb screw) mentioned in the overview and clearly pictured. Those threads are M6x1.0 and about 17mm deep. They extend to the large central hole at the center of the cylinder but the end of the thumb screw does not bear directly against the boom arm. It instead bears against a plastic liner pressed into that central hole which prevents scratching the finish of the boom arm.

Q: 5. Is the threaded connection on the bottom 5/8" ? I didn't see it listed on the product page.

A: the bottom of this boom arm is designed to fit into an existing mic stand, the 5/8" thread listed is at the top on the boom arm, to allow for industry standard a mic clip/holder for a microphone.

Q: 6. Would a para 133 and siros (15lbs) twist around or would the modifier stay at the angle I put since it would be front heavy?

A: Once you lock everything down it should not twist or rotate.

Q: 7. Where can I get a Handle for the counterweight? The bolt sucks

A: A handle is not sold separately . It is a part sold by Manfrotto . You can reach them at 480-940-1103

Q: 8. For the max load, is it liner ie at half extension would be 15Kg or how do you know the limit at a given length?

A: These are the listed parameters 88 lb (40 kg) @ Minimum extension 22 lb (10 kg) @ Maximum extension, you test the arm on different extension length's until you are comfortable on how stable it is.

Q: 9. what is the best light stand?

A: This boom is made for mounting to Junior stands. A C-stand does not have the correct receiver, width of base and stability, or weight capacity to safely support it at its maximum load and extensions.

Q: 10. Will this be able to support the weight of a "Shure SM7B" (1.69 lb / 766.57 g)?

A: Yes; this boom arm, placed on a stand includes a counter weitht, which will balane an SM7B, no problem.

[Black] This is a very heavy and solid boom arm. The counterweight is a nice feature which allows good balance with a heavy stereo mic array. Highly recommended.

[Black] A brilliant device designed to last for generations. With the sliding counterweight, this workhorse can be perfectly balanced on a stand with almost any microphone. The build quality is phenomenon with excellent craftsmanship from head to the toe. usually, I say expect only what you pay for, but in this case you can expect much more.

[Black] Yes, it's very expensive, but if you need it, it's outstanding. It covers a lot of ground and if you set it up right you can keep the adjustment nut within reach so you can make little adjustments as needed. I play keyboards, and normal sized booms weren't cutting it. This one works. Does exactly what you need it to do.

[Black] I bought this boom arm to add to my existing K&M stand which originally came with a shorter boom. This was exactly what I needed to extend in to my grand piano without dropping the mic on the strings. I am using it with a Soundelux U195 large diaphragm condenser microphone. The counterweight is perfect to keep the balance and not allow the arm to drop once in place.

[5/8"-27 Male] The arm feels sturdy and quality. The clutch is smooth and the counter weight work as it should. The length holds the wireless mic perfectly in the center of the grand piano without any fear of sagging.

[3.91 lb] Solid and hefty boom arm for heavy mics that need a counterweight (about 4lbs). Nothing beats Atlas mic stands for durability, ease of use and security that your mic will not fall off.
