[8 Preamps] At first glance you will just fall in love with how this interface looks.

with an all black design and a scratch resistant glass on top this is a thing of beauty. This whole design by apogee resembles apple's design Philosophy and it fits perfectly on your desk next to your mac . But the beauty of this device lies in the knob. Its clicky and extremely tactile delivering a luxurious-feel for dialing in monitor levels and mic pre gain. It also has meters on the front which shows audio level while playback and recording. Btw did i mention this knob glows.. Now enough of me drooling over the design lets talk about the ports. So the ports are available via the breakout cable with

2x Mic/line inputs

2x " Instrument inputs

2x " Balanced outputs

2 USB Type C ports and one 0 ohms headphone output which means you get the best performance with any headphone available today, regardless of headphone impedance

[1x Knob] It completely redefined my way of producing. Delivery was incredibly fast. The Apollo x4 is a beast of an interface and even so the UaD plugins included in the bundle.

[+24 dBu ] I run this on a Mac Studio Ultra. I don't have any issues with Youtube
or any of the problems the other rater has.
When I shut of my Mac It shuts down the Zen Q.
The most impressive and most important is the sound.
These are top class converters. I've use a lot of interfaces over the years the sound is addictive. The latency is super tight.
Plugins are great and the feature set is great. Nothing comes close for the money. That's my 2 cents.

[+26 dBu ] I have had a Duet on my officedesk since the first one was released [X] years ago. Since I am constantly listening to music, reviewing mixes and making sure I have the cleanest, highest quality audio coming out of my Mac, my Duet is the only DAC I trust to ensure that I'm hearing music as it's intended to sound. And the Duet 3 is just the sleekest, coolest looking one to date. I love the big control knob, the ability to quick-mute without having to reach for my mouse, and how straightforward, intuitive and seamlessly it integrates with the Mac OS (for outputs and inputs alike). Apogee gear, and the Duet specifically, have just become such a trusted part of my setup - I don't ever want to listen to music out of my rig without it.

[48 V] I upgraded my Apogee Element 24 to this new Symphony Desktop interface. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the headphone preamp.
I don't have a well treated room in my apartment. So mixing with headphone(Sennheiser HD650 is my main workhorse) is my usual practice. Element 24 has a solid HP. But the HP on Symphony Desktop gives me even better details and clearer bottom end on frequency spectrum. Compared to Symphony Desktop, the HP on Element was a bit muddy at the bottom end. The sound stage is also noticeably wider with symphony desktop.
For mic preamp, I haven't done any comparison yet. I'll update this post when I have time to do it.

[AC Input] For years I had debated whether I needed “vintage“ gear for my home studio. Having just completed my first project with the Apollo x4 I can say it was absolutely worth the investment for me.

The quad processing power is just right for my home studio, I have not maxed out the DSP yet. Since I don’t record drums or a full band at home, there is plenty of power here to handle a small group. More often I’ll use one or two inputs at a time. Two headphone outputs is important to me so that each musician gets their own mix.

I ended up spending about another $2000 to get the full UAD set of plug-ins. I would have preferred to spend half that much now and add more down the road, but the economics work out that you get a much better deal when you purchase them upfront. I would have had about 10 plug-ins, but now I have all 66 and I have already used close to half of them.

A lot of money for a home studio but if you purchased a dedicated tube preamp and compressor you’d spend a similar amount, and it would sound great but it wouldn’t be as flexible.

It was easy to set up, for me it “just worked”. UA support took a couple of days to respond when I had a question but they gave a thorough response. UA has great videos on their website to help you learn how to use each plugin.

The buying experience from B&H was excellent—it arrived in perfect condition a day earlier than I expected. It’s an investment, but if you are dedicated to learning how to use the equipment you will get professional results. I can strongly recommend.
