Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the power module fit into a xvive phantom power unit?

A: Yes, you can use the Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone with the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery (B&H # XVP1). The Pro 35 is also compatible for use with the Xvive Audio U3C Set Wireless Plug-On System for Condenser Microphones - 2.4 GHz (B&H # XVU3CSET). The transmitter in this system will supply phantom power for the mic.

Q: 2. Does this work for any DSLR? I have the Nikon D3100.

A: The Audio-Technica ATR1300 is a dynamic mic which requires no external powering. This makes it widely compatible with devices that feature mic input capabilities. This is true for DSLRs as well as portable audio recorders and similar devices. Unfortunately the Nikon D3100 specifically, does not offer an external mic input jack and would not be able to this or external mics in general.

Q: 3. Can I connect this to a computer? Is it good for recording audio tutorials? I need something simple and affordable.

A: Yes, I am very satisfied with mine.

Q: 4. I have a Canon r600 camcorder, does this mic require Phantom power or does it use batteries as i am unsure if the port allows for Phantom power.

A: This is a dynamic handheld mic that requires no phantom power.

Q: 5. Can I connect my AT2005USB to my iPhone 11?

A: Yes, you can connect the Audio-Technica AT2005USB Microphone using the Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter (B&H # APMK0W2AMA). You can connect the USB cable to one side and there is an additional Lightning port that can be used to charge the phone while using the mic.

Q: 6. Is the thread on the stand mount 5/8 or 3/8?

A: The one that I recieved was 5/8

Q: 7. Do I need a pre-amp to connect it to a laptop?

A: The Audio-Technica Pro 35 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone requires a USB audio interface with XLR inputs for connection to a computer.

Q: 8. I'm a little confused about their statement Self-contained electronics eliminate need for external power modules . It IS a condenser mic. I am assuming it still requires phantom power. Would the 12v phantom power from a typical shure mic mixer provide adequate performance?

A: It is a 48volt phantom powered mic. Whether or not it can work on 12 volts can be answered by reading the spec on the AT web site.

Q: 9. Can you recommend a preamp/power supply for this mic? I don't need a mixer as I plan to feed the mic into an ATEM mini with an adapter

A: You can use the Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamp (B&H # ROMP13) to power the Audio-Technica U851Rb Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone, then use an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male cable like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 3' (B&H # KOXRSM03B) to connect the output from the MP13 to the 3.5mm TRS input on the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini HDMI Switcher.

Q: 10. Hi, what are the dimensions of the box that this comes in? Thanks

A: Hi, the Box Dimensions would be as follows 20 x 16 x 14.

[1.65 lb] I set these up as a stereo pair on a baby grand piano, panned appropriately, and was absolutely floored by how good these sounded. Great small diaphragm condenser microphone for an extremely great price.

[1.65 lb] I bought two for recording guitar and some band concerts. So far I have worked with these on acoustic guitar, stereo and mono mic'd, both near field and far field. To me, these mics sound incredibly clear and accurate. Zero noise that I can detect. I am really pleased with these. They sound much better than the Shure SM57 and noticeably better then my AT3035 LDC mics. I have had no problems. I run them at 0dB and with the 80Hz filter on. These are feeding a Presonus interface and a Mac running Logic Express 9. It's a dream set-up.

[Mono] I have used this versatile microphone for instrument recording and tested it's use as a spare/secondary film dialogue microphone. For instrument recording, It sounded excellent used as drum overheads. It captured the full sound of the drums, and did especially well with the highs produced by the cymbals. I also used it as an ambiance mic to record a guitar amp from a distance of roughly 6 feet. It was able to capture details that the up close dynamic mic could not pick up. This mic combined with a close up dynamic mic makes an excellent guitar amp recording combo. As for film dialogue, It actually worked really well. It is not as bassy as other mics, but it captured the voice really well from a distance of about 2 feet, and the voice sounded crisp. It also did well rejecting noise from the room.. I am happy to have added this little mic to my gear inventory

[Cardioid] I needed a better mic than what we had for speaking events. This gave increased clarity and volume. Feedback was also noticeably lessened. In fact, the only feedback I've gotten was because the monitor speaker was bouncing sound off of a cement wall back at the mic. Other than that, it's been great and well worth the price.

[Cardioid] I needed to replace a couple of 25 year old Audio Technica mics that had lost their low end response. Found the ATR1500 is the same mic at a great price! Already used one for a general PA use and got a great big fat sound no matter who spoke into the mic. Way to go Audio Technica!

[Mono] I'm a teacher, and I've been making YouTube videos for my classes during remote learning. I went with this mic after watching some reviews and I've been very happy with it. It was easy to set up through USB, and I like that I'd be able to go XLR in the future. I chose a dynamic mic for background noise rejection in my noisy apartment and because I don't mind always being right up close to the mic.
As a teacher doing remote lessons, the difference between good audio and bad audio in my videos is the same thing as the difference between speaking clearly versus mumbling in front of a live classroom. The comparisons I did between my computer's built-in mic versus this one were night and day.
