The cocoa Countryman E6 Omnidirectional Earset Mic for Azden Transmittersis a vocal microphone with an adjustable boom that weighs less than one tenth of an ounce and is designed to be used by only one person. Once adjusted, it will continually hold this shape.

The E6 earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6 earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers medium gain for very loud speaking, such as in theater performances and most vocals. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6 earset's cable terminates to a 4-pin Hirose connector for direct connection to Azden UHF 41BT wireless bodypack transmitters.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The classic E6 is a good choice when one person will wear the microphone. Because the boom is stiffer, it can be adjusted to fit, then stored away and quickly reworn.

The E6's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6 earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6 earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this mic work with 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic requires plug-in power, which is 2 to 10 VDC.

Q: 2. Is Azden EX-503H compatible with SONY WRT820A transmitter?

A: This mic is not compatible with the Sony WRT820A. You would need a mic with a twist-on 4-pin connector that is wired for Sony, such as the Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (Black), B&H # COB3SOBRS.

Q: 3. Good afternoonI have an old Sony-urx-p1-utx-b1 kit, but has lost my lavalier.Does this Azden lavalier work on my kit?RegardsJonny PedersenThe Steadicam Operaotr

A: It is very unlikely the Azden EX-503 will work with your UTX-B1. The connector on the Sony transmitter is a locking 3.5mm screw connector. The Azden is not, also the wiring may be different. The lav normally used as a replacement would be the Sony ECM-77BMP.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Cannon Rebel T7i?

A: Hello. The mic would only come through in the left channel since you'd be plugging a MONO mic into a STEREO input. To have this wire direct into the camera, your best option would be to get a 3.5mm mono to mono cable extension and a 3.5mm mono to stereo adapter.

Q: 5. I have Sony's ECM-AW4 Wireless Microphone. Will this mic work with this system?

A: The ECM-AW4 does not seem to have a 3.5mm microphone input, which it would need in order to use our EX-503 lav mic. Consult your manual or contact Sony to be sure.

Q: 6. If I combine this with a MiCon-1 adapter can I use it in my RodeLink?

A: No - the MiCon adapter are for RODE lavalier mics only.

Q: 7. How is this powered? No battery?

A: whatever you stick it into; powers it.

Q: 8. Will these mics work with Canon Vixia camcorders? What is the best wired mic for use with these canon vixia camcorders?

A: Canon Vixia camcorders are not able to supply power to mics that require it such as the Azden EX-503. You will need to use a mic that is able to supply its own power which is generally by a battery. The Polsen OLM-10 is one example which features a small battery inline.

Q: 9. For the 5D Mark III, I found the battery door needs to close for the camera to turn on. How have you used the coupler with the battery door since there is no space for the coupler wire to close the door? Or have you taken off the door, in which case, how did you depress the trigger so that it would recognize the power source and turn on.

A: There is a tiny rubber slot in the front of the camera (on the grip, where the end of your pinky finger sits) that opens up, allowing the dummy battery cable to run out.

Q: 10. Will it work with Black Magic Pocket 4K?

A: Yes, the SMX-30 will work with the BMPCC 4K but must be plugged into the 3.5mm mic input jack (not the mini-XLR input). Furthermore, you will have to adjust the audio settings to use the 3.5mm mic input. The auto-on feature will work when set up properly. You will need to find a third party mounting solution since the BMPCC lacks a traditional cold-shoe mount. Using a camera cage with a shoe mount would be one option. The SMX-30 has a 1/4"-20 female thread at the bottom, so using a thread adapter would be a second option.
