Soyuz Microphones Launcher Booster For Dynamic Mics

Soyuz Microphones Launcher Booster For Dynamic Mics
  • Product Code: eq76427
  • Availability: In Stock

$597.00 $913.41

The Launcher from Soyuz Microphones is a clean booster for one dynamic microphone, designed to give it more gain if your mic preamp isn't giving you a strong enough mic level without imparting unwanted noise. However, unlike other clean boosters, the Launcher is not designed to give you a clean gain boost. Instead, it boosts while imparting a vintage, analog sound, reminiscent of a classic console.

Use this booster with PAs or recording interfaces alike. If you're rocking a dynamic microphone for your voice or instrument, this can go a long way to adding color in otherwise characterless signal paths. The Launcher sports a custom hand-wound transformer and proprietary circuit for this purpose.

You'll find a 3-pin XLR input at one end, and a 3-pin XLR output at the other. The Launcher gives you a gain boost of 26 dB, and is powered over phantom power from the PA or interface. Weighing less than 1 lb, the Launcher also quite portable.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many versions of this product are there? And what are the differences between them?

A: There are 3 versions. The standard FetHead for dynamic and ribbon mics, the FetHead filter that adds a high pass filter to the standard design, and the FetHead Phantom which is for use with condenser mics (and does not have the high pass filter).

Q: 2. Will this work with dried flowers?

A: I spoke with the folks at Chauvet, and they have not tested this launcher with dried flowers, so they really don't know how far it would throw, but it would not cause any damage to the machine.

Q: 3. Regular vs phantom amplification level. The regular claims 27db of amp and the phantom says 18db. Does the regular actually have stronger amplification? I heard from testers that the regular only boosts about 20db in reality is that true? If I get the phantom pass one will it amplify less?

A: I use a regular Fethead and it delivers a boost of about 20 db. I use it often with my Zoom and Tascam small recorders and it does a great job of boosting gain-hungry mics such as SM7B and RE20. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Is the the regular version the correct one to use with an h4n and rode ntg2 combo?

A: Yes if you power the NTG2 with internal batteries and feed the Fethead with phantom power from the H4N. Would be best to buy the Fethead specifically designed for use with condenser mics that passes power to the NTG2.

Q: 5. Can I use this device with xsw2?

A: This is a UHF transmitter, but it is not meant to be used with the XSW series of wireless microphones.

Q: 6. I want to use this item with an H4N pro and sennheiser Me66 with a K6.My question is should I get this version or the version with phantom? (I will be using the aa battery in mY K6 and not using theH4Npros's phantom power)

A: Get this one. The Zoom H4N has its own phantom power.

Q: 7. Will the Triton Audio FetHead In-Line Microphone Preamp work with the Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone?

A: The Sony ECM-44B is a condenser but can't be phantom powered. The ECM-44B requires an internal AA battery thus the FetHead Regular will work fine. If you want to use an ECM-55B or ECM-77B you'll need the FetHead Phantom unless you want to locally power the mic with an AA battery. Once locally powered, the mic will behave like a standard dynamic mic.

Q: 8. will this work with a plain Shure SM-58?

A: Yes it will with the Shure SM-58 as well as any other dynamic microphone on the market that sports an XLR connector.

Q: 9. Will the SKP 500 G4 transmitter provide phantom power to the XLR mic?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Wireless Plug-On Transmitter (B&H # SESKP500G4AW or B&H # SESKP500G4G1) will supply phantom power to a condenser mic with XLR output. Since you posted your question on the item page for the Sennheiser SKP 100 G4 Plug-On Transmitter for Dynamic Microphones (B&H # SESKP100G4A), please be aware that the SKP 100 does not supply any voltage so it cannot be used for condenser mics and can only be used with dynamic microphones (which do not require any voltage) or condenser microphones that use a battery for power.

Q: 10. Hi, what is the range of microphone diameters that the Auray MC-22SN can accommodate?

A: The manufacturer has not provided any specifications regarding the diameter of the microphone handles that the Auray MC-22SN Elliptical-Style Mic Clip will accommodate. The MC-22SN is intended for use with a dynamic wired onstage microphone that has a tapered handle, such as the Shure SM58.

[1] I use a TC Helicon harmonizer and my dynamic mic wasn't pushing it very hard. I actually had to turn the input gain to max. Once I put the
FetHead on my mic I got plenty of signal to my Harmonizer and actually had to turn down my preamps in that signal. Thanks Triton!

[5.0 mA] It makes my Shure MV7 LOUD!!! I love how the TRITON AUDIO FetHead has visually low profile but it also make the sound GREAT. I could turn the gain from 35 down to 17 and my voice is clear and sharp. Money well spent.

[Preamplifier] I am a D,J. on a Community Radio Station and I Just hate the Microphones the supply. Using the Soyuz Microphone Launcher with my RE-20 and SM7 makes the Broadcast Board sound like a Vintage High End Microphone Preamp in Consoles from the 70's or 80's by simply putting this unit inline. I get compliments almost every show I do, raving about how my voice sounds. I have been using a Cloudlifter CL-1 for years. The Soyuz gives my voice a very distinctive warm retro tone, that seems to impress my listeners.

[1.075 lb] Absolutely amazing!  Before the FetHead, on my DR-40 DAR and Mac-based mic preamp (Zoom TAC-2), I have to crank up the volume for my Sennheiser MD421 to at least 90%.  Now my dynamic MD421 has about the same output as a condenser mic, like my Neumann U87.  I love the inconspicuous, in-line plug-in.

[Preamplifier] I use an Audient iD14 and it can dish a pretty decent amount of clean gain, but the FetHead takes it to a new level. I've compared usage with a Cloudlifter and feel the CL-1 adds a bit of high-end to it that the FetHead does not. You might can get away without a mic activator, but if you want the best signal possible, get the FetHead.
