This 11mm lens will produce a classic wide-angle look or up to a 123° viewing angle in the 2.39:1 widescreen format, depending on your camera's sensor. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in meters, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot.

The IRIX Cine 11mm is a wide 43.3mm full-frame lens that uses 16 optical elements, including four high refractive index (HRI) and two extra low-dispersion glass (ED) elements, to create crisp cinematic shots in resolutions up to 8K while keeping the focus breathing at a minimum. This lens features a relatively fast T4.3 maximum aperture and can be stopped down to T22.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there an 150mm filter holder for this lens

A: Not that I know of that we sell, there may be some coming soon from Nisi, Lee, Fotodiox, etc..

Q: 2. Can someone please explain or help me to understand how to read the hyperfocal scale on this lens? I have never had a problem using hyperfocal scales on any of my other lenses, but this one is quite perplexing to me, there are so many values on it.

A: If you are old school and know how to use the hyperfocal scale on manual lenses, then work as you have before. If you wish, you can also use the innovative hyperfocal indication line but really it is meant for others. That is because, ever since auto focus lenses came into use, they have mostly come without manual aperture scales since they had no place for the scales to be applied. Therefore a generation of photographers has grown up not knowing what they are for or how to use them. With Irix's hyperfocal line, the new user determines what aperture they are using, moves the focus ring to line up the aperture number on the Irix hyperfocal line with the lens focus mark. Then they look to the aperture numbers on the traditional scale to see the hyperfocal distance or the area that is in acceptable focus. To old users it is not necessary, to new users it is very helpful.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with an RF adapter on a Canon RF body? I read somewhere that it requires a firmware update installed by IRIX.

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens for Canon EF can be adapted to a Canon R-series mirrorless camera, but the operation would be fully manual, and there would be no EXIF data. No firmware update is needed since it is entirely manual.

Q: 4. Can it be use with the Canon EF 2x extenders to expand the focal range on a Canon C100 Mark ll camera?

A: Unfortunately this lens is not compatible with Canon extenders.

Q: 5. Is this wide angle cine lens a Rectilinear lens or a Fish Eye lens? Mount Nikon Z, Focus Scale Metric, 11mm

A: The IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Z-Mount, Meters) is an Ultra-wide angle lens.

Q: 6. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: There are four seals protecting against inclement weather and dust.

Q: 7. Why no Nikon F mount then it could be adapted to more than one camera!?

A: I am sorry to say we are not aware of the reason why IRIX does not make this lens with a Nikon F mount.

Q: 8. Would I be able to put a clip on mattbox on this lens to use a polarizer or would that vignette?

A: The diameter of the front of the IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) -- not to be confused with the filter size -- is 95mm which is a very common size to which to attach a matte box. Yes, it would be possible to do so. Given the ultra wide nature of the field of view, however, there will of course be at least some amount of vignetting regardless of the size of the filter, but that is unavoidable.

Q: 9. How much lens breathing occurs with this lens?

A: The lens breathing on this product should be almost imperceptible, as it has been designed with the specific "cine" lens characteristics that keep lens breathing to a minimum, if not entirely absent.

Q: 10. Anyone using this with a c100 mkii? If so, thoughts?

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Blackstone Lens for Canon EF is an excellent choice for someone interested in a super wide angle rectilinear lens for the C100 Mk II Digital Cinema Camera. The rectilinear design limits image distortion and the lens uses a positive lock mechanism that will make it easier to pull focus consistently and accurately.

[43.3 mm] I've used this lens for a couple of years now, gotta say, it's a very sharp lens. I set the aperture at F8, turn the focus ring until it clicks at infinity, & I'm all set.
Keep this thing level and you'll love the results.
Using the Irix ND filters that slide in the back of the lens , allow for some interesting long exposures, without the use of expensive filter holders.
Using with my D850 is a compelling combo.
Don't use it as much as my 14mm or 20mm, but when you want everything in the frame, the Irix wins!

[11mm] Awesome lens for scenery, landscapes, cramped interiors ... really opens things up!
Packaging
was excellent, lens was inside a sturdy metal box with heavy duty foam
inserts, inside a durable cardboard box, inside a padded cardboard box
from B&H.
This lens seems very well built, gives sharp images,
and has features I wish other lens makers would use in their lenses; the
hyper-focal distance scale, click stop infinity detent, and raised
'lever' on focusing ring to name a few.
I would definitely recommend this lens as an inexpensive, lightweight, super-ultra-wide-angle lens !!!

[Metric] A very substantial and solidly built piece of glass. Excellent quality. The lens is very sharp with great color and contrast. If you're like me, you may need to work on your focusing skills since it's a manual focus lens. Usually not an issue because infinity covers a huge area in such a wide angle lens. Irix is very proud of their packaging but I found it pretty insubstantial. The can is very flimsy and thin. Not nearly as tough as your average coffee can. B&H might consider packaging this with a little extra padding. UPS, my least favorite carrier, was pretty rough with mine and the can was actually bent. Fortunately, the very nice semi-hard lens case that comes with the Blackstone version did a nice job of protecting the lens. If you need or just want a super wide angle non-fisheye lens, this is a great value.

[T22] Very well constructed. Maintains Rectilinear image despite the great angle of view. Resolution is as advertised, very sharp! Seems to maintain sharpness throughout the field of view, corner to corner. CA is quite low, and any residual can be eliminated in post production.
The only con is that the lens is quite bulky.
Comes with case, and really fancy packaging, and a built - in lens shade.
Canon would do well to provide the above, especially considering their prices!

[Full Frame] Last few years I was looking for ultra-wide lens to help me in real estate photography. Sometimes the rooms to be shot were so small so I could'n use my 15-30/2.8 and I had to proceed with 16mm fish-eye. And since I've got this Irix 11/4 and made few test shots, I have no regrets. It's perfect for any tiny place and doesn't bend the walls. The lens is sharp at 4. Being swithed to f11, it doesn't need to be focused at all. What really surprised me was an ability to take street photos. Just for fun I brought this lens to a local city event and use it for candid photography. To get a good picture I had to be VERY close to the subject. And what I did find that the people don't get scary when photographer stays within 1 meter. They think the camera was pointed somewhere out. And, what is more important, you don't need to lose time for viewfinder's look and focusing, just point and shoot.
