This lens features a relatively fast T4.3 maximum aperture and can be stopped down to T22.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does anybody have any insight on this lens vs a Venus laowa 12mm zero d 2.9?

A: The IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) is slightly wider but lets less light enter. The Venus Optics Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Lens (Canon EF) (B&H# VE1229CC) is sharper and faster.

Q: 2. In a BMPCC 6K Pro camera, this 11mm equals to what mm?

A: The IRIX 11mm Lens on the BMPCC 6K Pro will become roughly a 16.5mm lens.

Q: 3. How is the iris controlled on a Nikon F-mount camera? Is there a 'G' style control lever? Or is it purely electronically controlled?

A: The aperture is electronically controlled.

Q: 4. Anyone using this with a c100 mkii? If so, thoughts?

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Blackstone Lens for Canon EF is an excellent choice for someone interested in a super wide angle rectilinear lens for the C100 Mk II Digital Cinema Camera. The rectilinear design limits image distortion and the lens uses a positive lock mechanism that will make it easier to pull focus consistently and accurately.

Q: 5. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: There are four seals protecting against inclement weather and dust.

Q: 6. Would the Sigma MC-11 adapter for Canon EF to Sony E mount work on this lens?

A: Yes the IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens for Canon EF compatible with the MC11.

Q: 7. Can someone please explain or help me to understand how to read the hyperfocal scale on this lens? I have never had a problem using hyperfocal scales on any of my other lenses, but this one is quite perplexing to me, there are so many values on it.

A: If you are old school and know how to use the hyperfocal scale on manual lenses, then work as you have before. If you wish, you can also use the innovative hyperfocal indication line but really it is meant for others. That is because, ever since auto focus lenses came into use, they have mostly come without manual aperture scales since they had no place for the scales to be applied. Therefore a generation of photographers has grown up not knowing what they are for or how to use them. With Irix's hyperfocal line, the new user determines what aperture they are using, moves the focus ring to line up the aperture number on the Irix hyperfocal line with the lens focus mark. Then they look to the aperture numbers on the traditional scale to see the hyperfocal distance or the area that is in acceptable focus. To old users it is not necessary, to new users it is very helpful.

Q: 8. Why no Nikon F mount then it could be adapted to more than one camera!?

A: I am sorry to say we are not aware of the reason why IRIX does not make this lens with a Nikon F mount.

Q: 9. Will this PL mount lens work with Panasonic L-mount?

A: No it will not.

Q: 10. Will this work on the BMPCC4K with a Metabones Speedbooster (MFT to EF) ? Will there be vignetting?

A: Both the 0.71 and the 0.64 Metabones Speedbooster, show little to no vignetting.

[Full Frame] A very substantial and solidly built piece of glass. Excellent quality. The lens is very sharp with great color and contrast. If you're like me, you may need to work on your focusing skills since it's a manual focus lens. Usually not an issue because infinity covers a huge area in such a wide angle lens. Irix is very proud of their packaging but I found it pretty insubstantial. The can is very flimsy and thin. Not nearly as tough as your average coffee can. B&H might consider packaging this with a little extra padding. UPS, my least favorite carrier, was pretty rough with mine and the can was actually bent. Fortunately, the very nice semi-hard lens case that comes with the Blackstone version did a nice job of protecting the lens. If you need or just want a super wide angle non-fisheye lens, this is a great value.

[11mm] After 3 months of waiting I received the lens and i had tried it for few shots. the lens is tack sharp with little distortions and some CA. This super wide angle has great colors and good contrast the only negative is that I recieved the lens with scratched cap which makes it like a used one.

[Metric] Awesome lens for scenery, landscapes, cramped interiors ... really opens things up!
Packaging
was excellent, lens was inside a sturdy metal box with heavy duty foam
inserts, inside a durable cardboard box, inside a padded cardboard box
from B&H.
This lens seems very well built, gives sharp images,
and has features I wish other lens makers would use in their lenses; the
hyper-focal distance scale, click stop infinity detent, and raised
'lever' on focusing ring to name a few.
I would definitely recommend this lens as an inexpensive, lightweight, super-ultra-wide-angle lens !!!
