Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what windjammer I need to the ae kit?

A: They no longer make a blimp or windjammer for the Rycote Stereo Windshield WS AE ORTF Kit.

Q: 2. Can the BBG work without the windjammer?

A: Yes the Rycote BBG Windshield can work without the Rycote BBG Windjammer.

Q: 3. i want to mount a stereo pair of DPA 4060. Is there an accessory I need to make this work?

A: Unfortunately the Baby Ball Gag is made for pencil mics or short capsule mics like the Neumann KM 100 or the Schoeps CCM4 LG. There is a stereo boundary kit for the 4060s that has many parts to it. You might want to look at that see below. Perhaps you can fashion something from that. Also the Sanken dual capsule lav might be worth looking into. Here is a dual lav case that may help B&H # ROINVISI10PK. Whatever it is you will have to modify it or build it. Here is a mount that shows promise the Neumann Hanging Stereo Mount. This is the B&H part number B&H # NESTH100.

Q: 4. How lenght it is?

A: The Windjammer WJ4 is designed to fit the Modular Windshield WS4, which has a body length of 330mm, and overall with end caps of 440mm. Q: 5. How do I clean the Rycote BBG Windjammer?

A: Rycote recommends cleaning their furry windjammers by hand with either warm or cold water and a mild detergent.

Q: 6. Will this fit the Videomic Pro+ ?

A: No, this Rycote Mini Windjammer is intended for use with a different mic. For the VideoMic Pro+, you can use the Rycote Mini Windjammer for Rode VMP+ (B&H # RY055470) or Rode DeadCat VMPR+ Artificial Fur Windshield for VideoMic Pro Plus Microphone (B&H # RODEADCATVPP).

Q: 7. will this fit the Sennheiser 8050?

A: Rycote does not list the 8050 as a compatible microphone.

Q: 8. will it work with a beyerdynamic 201tg (24mm)?

A: With a specified compatible diameter of 25mm, the Rycote BBG Windshield (25mm) may be slightly big for pairing with the Beyerdynamic M201TG. It may be more preferable to size down to BH #RYBBG22 which specifies a compatible diameter of 22mm instead, which may provide a bit of a snug fit but will at least ensure that the BBG is not loose on the microphone.

Q: 9. If you mount this item like pictured, what is the point of the velcro? It has no way of latching. It seems like it is supposed to cinch around the mic part itself, but then there's way to much room in the front. Also, am I supposed to leave the foam on?

A: The wind protection works best with the foam in place. When I tighten the velcro around the barrel and then pulls it back into the notch between the barrel and the body, I get a very nice and snug fit.

Q: 10. Which rycote fur windjammer will fit the Sennheiser MZW 60-1 Blimp Windscreen?

A: The Rycote and Sennheiser blimps are very similar but they are not identical. Part of the issue is where the pistol grips line up on the blimps, and of course the opening on the fur windjammers factor in the position of each pistol grip. There are no 100% guarantees Rycote and Sennheiser are interchangeable, but a Rycote equivalent t the MZW 60-1 would be the Windjammer #4 (B&H#RYWJ4).

[13 x 4.6 x 4.5"] I needed this Windjammer for my Sennheiser 816 long shotgun when in a blimp. It works exactly as it should. Rycote has been the standard for a long time, and even with new challengers in the market, Rycote remains the standard by which all the others are measured.

[0.61 lb] We operate a narrated tram ride, and the wind on our wireless headset, would cause the narration to go in and out, even with a foam wind protector on the mic. The windjammer has solved that problem. We have happy passengers again!

[Faux Fur] Used with the Rycote Baby Ball Gag Windshield over the Oktava MK-012. Fits well with a handy draw chord instead of velcro that can tend to stick to the fur. Handled wind and dialogue pop well so far. Also comes with a flip-out Rycote comb so you can stay mad styled.

[Faux Fur] These are Windjammers are on my 4 Baby Ball Gag setups.
I believe they complete the setup for optimal wind suppression and some protection. The Windjammer is needed to give you the best wind noise reduction on the Baby Ball Gag enclosures. I have an extra Windjammer on hand to swap out if I'm working in slightly light weather.

[0.61 lb] The cyclone without the windjammer offers very good wind protection in many cases, but when the wind picks up this windjammer will save your take. I don't notice any muffling of the sound when using with my Sennheiser MKH 418 S, but I do notice that wind sounds are gone when I put this on. Fully recommended.
