Procure yourself a highly professional microphone for recording in the elements with the Schoeps MiniCMIT Mono Windshield Set. This bundle gives you the MiniCMIT short shotgun mic as well as an elastically suspended windshield that mitigates the sound of wind when recording outdoors.

The blue Schoeps MiniCMIT is a top-tier performer for camera- or boompole-mounted use in film, TV, and location recording applications. Compliant with P12 and P48 phantom powering, the MiniCMIT can be used with professional and consumer devices.

A fixed 24 dB/octave low-cut filter at 70 Hz ensures that excessive boom noise and rumble will be kept under control. Special construction and filtering effectively inhibits interference from various sources such as radio, TV, and cellular frequencies.

The MiniCMIT's supercardioid/lobar polar pattern yields directional characteristics that smoothly increase at higher frequencies while providing low off-axis coloration for natural sound at all angles. With low self-noise, moderate sensitivity, and high SPL handling, the MiniCMIT delivers a sonic performance deserving of premium mic preamps.

When you take the mic to a highly windy location, that's where the COSI-L-21 Windshield comes in. This windshield is tailor-made for the MiniCMIT Microphone. It also isolates the mic from structural-borne vibrations ensuring a clean sound. A premium carrying case is included.

The MiniCMIT features the same frequency response curve as the CMIT 5, allowing either microphone to be used without altering the sound. Thanks to a polar pattern that stays the same in the vertical and horizontal planes, the MiniCMIT produces consistent sound quality at any point of rotation.

With a directionality that increases smoothly at high frequencies and a 60 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the MiniCMIT is optimized for neutral, transparent capture of dialogue, foley, sound effects, and instruments. Considering its low self-noise of 14 dBA and moderate sensitivity of -35 dB, it performs best with a clean, high-gain mic preamp.

The MiniCMIT utilizes special construction and filtering to provide a high standard of measurable immunity from radio-frequency interference (RFI) caused by sources such as switching power supplies, lighting controls, AM/FM radio, digital radio and TV, cellular phones, and broadband communications.

The MiniCMIT features a balanced 3-pin XLR output, low current draw, and support for P12 and P48 phantom power, making it compatible with a variety of professional and consumer devices such as handheld audio recorders, portable field recorders, mixer adapters, and cinema cameras.

Mount the MiniCMIT directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied mic clip, affix it to a camera with an optional shoe shockmount such as the Rycote InVision Video, or place it in the separately available Rycote INV-6 InVision shockmount to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone when attached to a boompole.

The MiniCMIT includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rycote Cyclone Windshield Kit (Small) blimp-style windshield and suspension system (available separately).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this work with the sanken CS-M1?

A: Yes, it will.

Q: 2. Dear sir, is the Sennheiser MKE 440 compatible with Canon 60D?

A: If the 60D has a microphone jack, I dont why it wouldnt work

Q: 3. How long is the included XLR cable?

A: The XLR cable for the Rycote Windshield 9 Kit CMC-1 Modular Windshield for Schoeps CMC 1 Microphone is approximately 12" long.

Q: 4. Would this Rycote Windshield Kit accommodate the DPA 4018C combination?

A: The DPA will be too long to fit in this windsheild.

Q: 5. Several on camera monitors have a second cold-shoe mount on the side for something like a microphone. Would there be any issue using this microphone sideways?

A: yes. this mic is designed to give to the left speaker what is left of frame and the same with the right. something or someone that is interested b the middle (in front of the camera) will get an extra boost as well as separation from off camera sounds.if you orient the mic as ou mentioned, you'll get sound bouncing off the ground in one speaker and sound from the sky above in the other which will make for a weird stereo image that at the same time adds noise to the dialog that would otherwise not be there.better to use a mono shotgun style mic or find a way to flip this one right side up.

Q: 6. Can it fit a dpa 4017 capsule?

A: I it might be a bit large for your DPA Dimensions are (LxDiameter) 4.4 x 0.75". The Schoeps shotgun is Length 9.88" Diameter 0.83". The foam is Length 5.5" and the Compatible Mic Diameter 1.6 to 2".

Q: 7. why is the grey version cost more than the blue one?

A: The standard surface finish color of the CMIT 5U is blue. The CMIT5U is available in Antracite Gray as a special order item and custom made from Schoeps. Functionally both units are identical.

Q: 8. Would this Rycote Windshield Kit accommodate the DPA 4017C combination?

A: Yes, this will be compatible. The 4017C with preamp is just slightly longer (0.12") than the CMIT mini.

Q: 9. It says windjammer included! which windjammer is it? if it's Olympus WJ-1, it's not compatible to this kit at all, obviously!

A: Included would be the Olympus WJ-1 Windjammer, this comes this way from the manufacturer.

Q: 10. Will this fit and replace the Sennheiser 416 windscreen?

A: This 2mm too big for the MKH416.

[Low Cut/HPF] Scheops newest shotgun mic and the 3rd member of the CMIT family. Has the CMIT sound minus the filter options but makes up for being versatile with its small size. Great mic!

[End Address] All my go to microphones for field location audio are first and foremost Schoeps. I have a pair of Schoeps cmc641s and snagged a cmit5u when it was first introduced. I was in the market for adding a second cmit5u and saw that the miniCMIT had just been released. So glad I waited for this newer version. It's size makes it incredibly versatile in tight locations. It's lighter in weight than its big brother (cmit5u) but has the same sonic quality. The only thing you give up on the mini model is some of the filter options. I've used this on multiple shoots and interviews and it is a stellar microphone. The one thing I appreciate most about Schoeps microphones is the overall lack of coloration. Once I'm back in my studio listening to playback I can close my eyes and it's like the talent is sitting there right next to me speaking clear, uncolored, natural audio. That being said there is a lot of buzz about Schoeps microphones being susceptible to humidity causing the mic to motorboat. I have only had this happen once with my cmit5u in an extremely humid interior interview. For that reason I highly recommend you always have on hand a microphone that is impervious to humidity and moisture (Rode NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 50, Sennheiser MKH 416 or whatever you prefer). But otherwise all my Schoeps have performed well in some very humid environments. If I were headed to the Amazon Rain Forest or somewhere incredibly wet and humid I would leave all my Schoeps at home and go with a sure thing that could endure that much moisture. And yes, there are times I will choose another mic for very specific reasons dictated by the room or the talent's voice, but otherwise I'm swinging a Schoeps on my pole at least 95% of the time. Money well spent.
