The LEE Big Stopper ND Filter 10-Stop 85x85mmfrom LEE Big Stopper ND Filter 10-Stop 85x85mmis an 85 x 85mm solid neutral density filter, which provides a 10-stop reduction in exposure. This 3.0 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

This filter is constructed from a high-quality optical glass for high definition and clarity. It is compatible with the LEE85 Filter System, which is designed for use with compact cameras, mirrorless cameras, and mirrorless lenses. This filter measures 3.5 x 3.5" / 85 x 85mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would these filters fit the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens?

A: The specs for this lens, as listed at B&H, show a 77mm front thread. Get a Lee, or similar, 4x4 or 100x100mm filter holder and a 77mm wide angle adapter and it should physically fit. With this wide of a lens, I don't know how much vignetting you will get.

Q: 2. will this fit a Nikon nikkor 35km 1.8 and if so what accessories do I need to purchase with this filter?

A: yes with the Lee 100mm filter holder kit, go to 'Lee 100mm filter' on the internet and the site will show you everything you will need. I think B&H carries them.Regards...

Q: 3. Can I use this filter for the eclipse? If so, does it need an adapter?

A: Technically, yes, you could use it, but the sun will may likely still be overexposed. To get a properly exposed sun, you need a special solar eclipse filter that is far darker. Even with the solar eclipse filter, never use the optical view finder to frame the shot and always wear specialized solar eclipse glasses.

Q: 4. Will this filter fit into the 4 x4, 4 x6 Lee filter hollder?

A: This is designed for the Lee Filter 150 System and the Mark II version which has a Lightguard in the II system that did not exist in the I version. I have the Mark II Holder sand have no problems with this filter used in it. Mixing and matching mfrs is not always a good idea.

Q: 5. Would this work with the nikkor 24-70 2.8?

A: Yes sir I think work with 24-70 and adapter ring 77mm for sure

Q: 6. Will this work with the B&H 100mm filter holder (with the correct adapter)?

A: I can only assume it would. I have been using Lee's Lens hood with built in filter holder for years and highly recommend it.

Q: 7. Will this fit NiSi 150mm Filter Holder for Tokina 16-28mm Lens ?

A: I bought it for the Lee Filter system.I have never used NiSi system

Q: 8. I currently have a sony A7r with a Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens. Is this filter compatible with the lens I am using? Are there any kits or adapters I need as well? Thanks!

A: Hi Christian, Yes, it will work, you'll just need a 72mm adapter for whatever filter holder you're using. My recommendation is a Lee Filter holder and a 72mm lens filter adapter. If you have a lens that takes a larger filter size, say a 77mm, then I'd get a 77mm adapter and a 77mm to 72mm step down ring. That way you don't have too many adapters. Hope this helps.mick

Q: 9. When buying a Neutral density filter, do you buy an adapter size for each lens size you have? That way the filter becomes interchangeable? For instance one size for a 24mm-80mm and another size for a 24mm-120mm.

A: For the Lee Big Stopper, you would need to get a filter holder such as the LEE Filters Foundation Kit (B&H # LEFK). You would then need an adapter ring to attach the filter holder to your lens(es). The size of the adapter ring would be dependent on the filter thread size of each of your lenses (any lenses with the same size filter thread could use the same adapter ring). http://bhpho.to/1lERSTT

Q: 10. what is the typical exposure time for this when shooting waterfalls in the day.. are we looking at 10 seconds or 10 minutes?

A: Cathy, it would be somewhere around 1 second to 4 seconds. If the normal shutter speed is 1/1000 with big stopper it would be 1 second. If the normal shutter speed is 1/250 with big stopper it will be 4 seconds. Lee filters has a nice app that shows the conversion if you are interested.

[Glass] A quick review after only one outing with the Big Stopper - a series of practice photos of water and clouds. Utilizing this with a NISI V-5 Pro filter holder. Very impressive results to date. While others have noted a slightly bluish tint, I have not - or at least find the results acceptable in light of my subject matter. Even if you disagree and notice a tint, this can easily be adjusted with a very slight
temperature correction in post production - very minor at most.

Word of advice: download the Lee Filter App which saves time in calculating extended exposures. Time saver.

[0.31 lb] I just purchased this filter for nature photography. It arrived yesterday and I used it this morning. It's wonderful!

I just bought into the Lee 100 filter system, and I'm impressed. This filter, the Big Stopper, is glass. While the Lee website indicated there can be some color issues, I'm not seeing any. I will eventually want the Lee Little Stopper, the 1.8, 6-stop filter to complement my kit.

I've uploaded a photo from this morning's shoot, taken at Great Falls Park, Virginia. Enjoy!
