The tan Countryman E6i Omnidirectional Earset Mic for Recordersis a vocal microphone with a soft, flexible boom that facilitates its adjustment for different users. It's built with a larger silicone rubber earpiece making it better suited for situations when multiple users share the same mic.

The E6i earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6i earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the highest gain for general speaking such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6i earset's cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom DM-420, DM-520, DM-620, DS-2400, DS-40, DS-51, DS-61, DS-71, LS-10, LS-14, R05, R09HR, PCM-D50, PCM-M10, DR-05, DR-07mkII, DR-08, PR-10, Pocketrak C24, Pocketrak W24, H1, H2, and H2n portable recorders.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6i is soft and highly flexible with a larger silicone rubber ear piece. When multiple users share a mic, the E6i is a great choice. The soft boom is durable and the flexibility makes it easy to adjust for different users.

The E6i's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6i earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6i earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this the battery the Ninja 2 uses?

A: yes

Q: 2. Will this work with the DR-70D?

A: This model is now compatible with the DR-70D as well.

Q: 3. How long will this last on the Tascam DR-100mkii on Phantom Power mode?

A: Significantly longer than the internal battery or a pair of AAs. When I shoot for 6-8 hours (on and off), I usually only need one battery swap, sometimes two.

Q: 4. Is it good for the Zoom H6 with stereo mic? Is there a video showing how it works?

A: Yes. The Saramonic SR-SMC20 Universal Shockmount for Portable Recorders is compatible for use with the Zoom H6 Portable Handy Recorder and an attached mic capsule like the X/Y capsule that is included with the recorder. The SR-SMC20 will support up to 1.1 lbs. The H6 and X/Y capsule weigh 0.9 lbs. We do not have a video showing how it works, but there should be instructions included in the package. The tripod socket on the H6 has the same size thread as the male thread on the top of the SR-SMC20 Shockmount.

Q: 5. Can you use the cable from this unit with a USB external battery pack and power a DR-100 recorder? I'd like to avoid AA batteries. USB battery packs are much more convenient.

A: Yes you can. In fact I equip my DR-100 with 4 rechargeable batteries, on top I use the BP-6AA for extended use. That is on EFP mode - If you are shooting outdoors. Indoors I use BP-6AA AC.

Q: 6. What is the best SSD drive for the Shogun?

A: This came with it and I have purchased an additional one. It has worked flawlessly so far and I just leave them in the caddy and plug the drive into the computer using the reader included with the shogun. I bought it off of adorama, but I buy a lot of gear from B&H.

Q: 7. The ssh model is described as having an hyper-cardioid polar pattern and the sgh a super-cardioid polar pattern. Is there a functional difference?

A: The main difference between the two models is that the SGH-6 uses three internal mic capsules and has a supercardioid polar pattern for a tight, focused response and dual-mono output. The SSH-6 is a stereo mid-side shotgun microphone with two internal mic capsules which each pickup sound from a different direction in order to create a wider stereo image with more ambience than a mic that picks up sound from one direction. One capsule from the SSH-6 is extremely focused on picking up sound on center and can be combined with its bidirectional capsule which is able to pickup sound from the left or right side to create a spacious stereo image that can be mono-compatible. For example, you can record dialogue with the center microphone and then mix in the desired amount of ambient sound captured by the side microphone. Both models are very good for picking up dialog. The SGH-6 is for one direction and SSH-6 is also capable of stereo imaging.

Q: 8. Does it fit OM Ls-P5 recorder?

A: Yes, the Auray WRW-H4DR Custom Windbuster for Digital Recorders can be used with the Olympus LS-P5 Linear PCM Recorder.

Q: 9. Will this work with the DR-70D?

A: If the DR 70d accepts power from a USB then yes this will most definitely work.

Q: 10. Does this Tascam BP-6AA External Battery Pack also work for the Tascam DR-60 MkII Portable recorder? And if so how?

A: The Tascam BP-6AA is compatible with the DR60D. It features a USB input jack and connects to the DR60D via the USB cable that is included with the recorder.
