Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a desk insert accessory that takes the place of the vice mount, for permanent mounting, like the PSA-1 comes with? If not what is the diameter of the anchor and will it work with the PSA-1 permanent desk insert?

A: No, the c-clamp is fixed to the arm.

Q: 2. For those of us that use the highest end XLR cables. Is removing and replacing the included and preinstalled XLR cable difficult?

A: It is not very difficult to replace the cable, but you might want to consider an uncabled arm like the Blue Compass that is designed to use your own cable, and has a channel to keep things neat. You can also easily adjust the tension on the hinges. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1385876-REG/blue_compass_desktop_boom_arm.html

Q: 3. Will the mounting peg on this fit into a Heil Sound WM-1 Wall Mount?

A: Since this item was not designed for the WM-1 mount, we can not guarantee compatibility.

Q: 4. Does the Zoom PodTrak come with an SD card? If not, which SD card make and model do you recommend?

A: No, the PodTrak P4 does not include an SD card. We recommend SanDisk brand SD cards class 10 or higher.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Shure MV7? Or is it too light?

A: In this case, the O.C. White Podcast Pro by Accu-Lite Mic Boom Package has a pre-determined boom tension and is made specifically for microphones weighing between 1.4 and 2.5lb. The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone has a specified weight of 1.21lb and therefore may not be completely compatible with this mic boom for optimal functionality.

Q: 6. Will this still need a cloudlifter?

A: Not necessary tho recommended. Providing the subject is at good volume and the room is very quiet, THe Zoom P4 will provide enough gain (70dB). Other Mic Pre-amps do provide 80 or more dB of gain. The Cloudlifter (B&H # CLCL1) provides more the only higher gain; it also improves mic performance, by lowering noise floor and matching impedance, which may lower distortion.

Q: 7. Can the XLR cable be replaced if it breaks or stops working?

A: The Podcast Pro is an all-in-one arm that is not intended to be taken apart. If the cable breaks you can replace it, though it is not easy to do. As another option for an arm that you can use with your own cable, O.C. White recommends their ProBoom Elite Series Microphone Arms, such as B&H# OC14295BC which features a top arm with a wire channel designed for fast and easy installation of XLR cable.

Q: 8. Can I use this device to conect a camcorder or cell phone who use to record or stream a Podcast? Thanks

A: Yes, connections below: Host Connection 1 x USB Type-C (I/O) 1 x USB Type-C (Bus-Power Only) Connectivity Analog I/O 4 x XLR 3-Pin Female Balanced Mic Input 4 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Female Unbalanced Headphone Output 1 x 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Aux Input 1 x 2.5 mm TRRS Female Unbalanced Remote Input

Q: 9. Is it possible to use the O.C. White riser with this boom?

A: At this time, this specific model of broadcast arm is not compatible with a riser. You may want to look into their Proboom Elite series for use with a riser. BH #OC14295BC.

Q: 10. Can I use this system to livestream webinars and lectures through a computer, as the audio solution?

A: Yes, this can be used to live stream a mix of all channels.

[Table Clamp] For a year I used a $14 boom that squeaked when I moved it and would slowly dip over time.

This boom arm stays where I put it, moves without noise, and has a greater arm length. The latter is quite useful since I can put it on the far end of my desk and thus easily move it out of the way not using it. I was dubious about the arm keeping it's position since it does so with tension, not with a fastener. However, it's done so beautifully so far! If it does so for at least two years, this will be totally worth the money.

[Black] I've owned a Blue Compass Boom Arm for more than a year. I love these style of boom arms as they pair nicely with my Shure SM7B. When I ordered a second mic I was looking for a second Compass. Unfortunately, they were out of stock, so I decided to give this one a try. After using it for multiple live streams and a couple podcasts, I found I actually preferred this so I bought a second one to replace my Blue Compass.
These did not need adjusted to hold the mic, unlike my Compass. They also hold their position perfectly (I set up an almost 2-hour timelapse to verify). There is more flexibility with this, when using a SM7B as it gives more clearance for the XLR connection. The XLR cable that comes with it is pretty good. I haven't done a detailed comparison, but I can't notice any difference with just my ears. And if you're using this with an SM7B and Cloudlifter, you won't need to buy 2 XLR cables as one is included.
So... yeah! I love it. Now, I just need to get a couple extra desk clamps for these.

[Black] Got a couple of these free, when I recently purchased a couple Shure
MV7X mics. Very good quality. Like that they give you a weighted base,
as well as the table clamp options. Plus is having the mic cable already
in the arm!!!

[Integrated] Perfect for my small, at-home recording space. Set-up is a snap, good tension/strength in the mic boom arm holds the mic (Shure SM7B) in position without 'drooping.' Provides plenty of mobility. Looks sharp & professional! (I found that gluing a round, rubber washer to the top of the clamp's adjusting screw made for a tighter, more snug fit, & wouldn't 'dig-in' to the underside of the table)

[Black] I am using this with a Shure Mv7x, so not a heavy mic by any means. But for the mv7x it works great. If you have something heavier like a rode podmic, maybe check some other places for reviews. I got this for free with the MV7x, but would have no issue buying this.

[Table Clamp] Awesome mic boom! I was worried that without the mechanical fasteners at the joints this boom would lose its position. Not at all. Stays put, easy to adjust. I am hanging a Rode Procaster from it and it works perfectly. I will say that if you can buy it from another vendor - you should. BH has been a frustrating to work with. My orders seem to get hung up between placing them and sitting at their warehouse for no apparent reason (even when they are not place on or around the sabbath). I'm headed to Adorama, they have a very crisp system from order to shipping, almost no lag at all. Placed an order yesterday and they shipped it the next day, it will be here in 4 days from when I placed the order. This order from BH - placed it on a Tuesday - they processed it on a Friday - shipped it on a Tuesday - got it the next Monday. One day short of two weeks - Meh...
I have an order right now I placed on April 10th - it is April 20th and it still hasn't left the warehouse. The order got to the warehouse on April 16th. This seems like a great company, but I don't like looking for shipping updates every morning (for two weeks) ha!

[5/8"-27 Male] I bought 4 of these in one shot! Sturdy and a great way to get your mics off the table. I do need to return one because of an issue with the xlr cable. Other then that a great addition to my studio.

[4.5 lb] I wasn't expecting much since these are being given out for free but this is a really solid boom arm. It looks good on camera and the built in cable is high quality monster XLR.

[XLR 3-Pin Male] The boom has clean lines with no gigantic logos. It's stable, quiet enough when repositioning, and the mic-angle adjustment knob is solid and easy to grab & twist. We're just using this for video conferencing, but it would work fine in any light-duty podcasting or home studio scenario. Nice job O.C. White!
