Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with 220v? (using 220v bulbs)

A: Pedro, the Light Shed is really great but you should order it stand alone and buy LED lighting kit. The light burn out too fast and are expensive to replace. LED will work much longer, less heat and with more control.

Q: 2. Are other colored sweeps with the touch tabs available? Particularly dark blue.

A: There are a few other brands of backgrounds that work with Velcro like the Impact models. This one uses clips but you should be able to attach MyStudio Color backgrounds. The next one is a bit larger but you should be able to attach it in the shooting tent. That is the Smith-Victor 28.

Q: 3. Will this stand accept an adapter for standard 5/8th inch microphone clips or booms? Thanks!

A: The top of the stand is 5/8. Items that have a 5/8 receiver should fit.

Q: 4. Does the light flicker? I see flicker in Cheesy Cam's review when the light is dimmed down low:https://youtu.be/_15aLmv-8zY

A: Emm has already addressed the above on his Cheesy Cam website review on this light fixture, which you may view on his website with his responses in the Comment section under the video. He stated that the units that he used were early prototypes of the Flolight Bladelight that he was sent from Flolight before final production. He admitted that the prototype had flicker when it was dimmed all the way down to its lowest setting (which it was for the video), but no longer flickered once the power was increased up to 10%, with no flicker from 10% to 100%. He stated it was due to the power supply he had on that particular light fixture, and his other power supply did not have the flicker issue, and that the final production versions of the light would be stable. Flolights are used often in television production studios and are known for being flicker-free light fixtures.

Q: 5. Does the Impact two-light digital light shed kit come with a black sweep and a white sweep?

A: Yes it does come with a Black sweep

Q: 6. what is the manufacturers warranty ?

A: Genaray covers the SSL-36B for 1 year against defects.

Q: 7. What is the brightness rating on these?

A: According to the manufacturer it makes 12,792 LUX at 1m.

Q: 8. how do I mount a photo strobe on it? Specifically the ALIEN B800 OR B1600

A: Unfortunately, this stand uses a bolt which normally connects to a yoke mounted light. A stand which can be used with an Alien Bees monolight is the Impact Folding Wheeled Base Stand (Black/Chrome-plated, 8.5'), B&H # IMLSPSFB8. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 9. Is this product recommended for jewelry?

A: Yes, keeping in mind that this would be better for larger pieces. B&H offers these shooting tents in a variety of sizes and styles. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=shooting%20tents&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

Q: 10. What's the footprint diameter of the Altman Wheeled Light Stand?

A: According to Altman, the length of the leg sections are 14.5 inches from the center of the stand. As the base is triangular in shape, not circular, I would say it takes up an area of approximately 25 x 25 .

[G9.5] These stands are such workhorses, you can't buy 'em used because every rental house continues to send them out constantly. It was great to get these all shiny and pretty and new, which I've never had the opportunity to see in all my years LOL! Great for theater lighting in small venues or tucked-in-the-corner additional positions. I love 'em :)

[24.6 x 8 x 6.9"] I use Leko's for my stage lighting and this bulb works great. The color temp was about right for my cameras and it was shipped fast and secure.

[17.28 lb] This Altman light is really good quality, but everyone knows Altman makes good stuff, anyway. With a 500 watt bulb and a set of barn doors I am able to light a stage for video and spot the presenter with really good separation of the spot from the on-stage video projector screen. It is a Fresnel so the spot isn't clearly defined on the edges like an ellipsoidal, but if you need to isolate a spot this will do it. The barn doors on front make it that much easier. In wide flood mode it produces a nice, even spread - kind of like a Par 64 can.

[24.6 x 8 x 6.9"] I've used several of these, and they always produce the results I need. For this kinda price, it is a great light fixture. I know I'll buy more.

[24.6 x 8 x 6.9"] This fixture is built very well. Not quite like tank, but fairly close to it. A note of caution: this unit is very hot. A 750 watt bulb will be hot, I assumed. But I didn't realize the cowling/fixture would get as hot as it gets. Duh. But wow, it is bright. I have to be very careful where I set up this fixture.
However, this is my first foray away from inexpensive LED lights. A very important lesson learned, but well worth the money.

[24.6 x 8 x 6.9"] I use this stand for mounting a video projector & it works very well. compact footprint, solidly built and at a great price. Would also work for smaller powered speakers, lighting, etc. You'd need to modify the top of the pole to pop a speaker on it, but totally do able.

[17.28 lb] We were purchasing these to swap out for some spots that weren't working. Easy to install - reliable units.

[G9.5] The 65Q is a high quality, well-built Fresnel which is what we've all come to expect from Altman. Its got a nice spot ranging from wide flood to narrow spot with the spotlight adjustment on bottom. Spots are not defined like a focused ellipsoidal, more like a Par 64. With a 500 watt bulb and set of barn doors I was able to spot a presenter on a stage for video and completely isolate the on-stage projection screen from any spillover light.
