Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How difficult is this radio to program?

A: Not hard at all. Just download the free CPS software from Motorola and purchase a RMM2050 compatible CPS cable (Motorola specs part #HKKN4027, available from many online retailers including B&H). You have to have a Windows computer or Mac running Windows in bootcamp/parallels/etc. The app is a web-app that runs in your browser. Connect the radio via USB, follow the instructions, and all the settings are selectable from drop-down menus. When done, click to store to the radio or save for later if doing multiple units. Took about 10 minutes for the first one to learn everything and 2 minutes or less each after that. I had no previous experience programming radios, so it was easy for a beginner. There are no selectable frequencies, since MURS only uses 5 FCC-approved frequencies. You can select privacy bands for each channel in the CPS software, however. All other settings (mic gain/button function/tone/vox/etc.) were also selected by drop down menus in the web-app.

Q: 2. Does this unit have a 3.5mm jack for external headphones, or is there a proprietary connector?

A: The CP200D uses a two-prong connector for external headsets.

A: The Motorola DLR 1060 operates in the 900 MHz ISM band which is license free for amateur radio in the Americas and Canada.

Q: 4. What is the communication distance between two Motorola CP200d?

A: The Motorola CP200D Portable 4W 16-Channel Analog/Digital Two-Way Radios can communicate indoors within a range of up to approximately 350,000 square feet or within 30 floors. When used outdoors, they can communicate within approximately 1 to 3 miles.

Q: 5. Looking to get these for my security team. Are they compatible with remote speaker to mount it close to their ear?

A: The compatible product is the Motorola HKLN4606 Remote Speaker Microphone for Business Radios, BH #MOHKLN4606.

A: El radio Motorola RMU2040 incluye batera y cargador. Las frecuencias de operacin son 450 to 470 MHz. Es probable que estas frecuencias estn abiertas para uso, usted tendra que verificar con la entidad Mexicana que regula las comunicaciones.

Q: 7. Do you need an FCC license to operate these CP200s?

A: Yes, an FCC is required to operate the Motorola MOTOTRBO CP200d Portable 4W 16-Channel Analog 2-Way Radio.

Q: 8. placed a brand new battery in walkie talkie, placed on charger, will not work any advise?

A: If you purchased this item at B&H. Please contact Customer Service they can be reached by phone at 800.221.5743 or 212.239.7765. As an alternative, you can send them an e-mail to CS@bhphotovideo.com.

Q: 9. Can these radios be used out of box or is there a license necessary for use?

A: These radios will work out of the box. A license may be required depending on the location and application of use.

Q: 10. how long does it take to charge?

A: Charge your new battery overnight before using it. This is referred to as initializing and will enable you to obtain maximum battery capacity.New Motorola IMPRES batteries, when inserted into a Motorola IMPRES charger, will indicate a calibration cycle by displaying a steady yellow light on the charge status indicator. Allow this calibration process to complete by not removing the battery from the charger until it's fully charged and displays a steady green light. Lithium-ion/Polymer: Charge 1-2 more hours after the charger light turns green. In order to minimize capacity loss and cycle life reduction, new, non-initialized batteries must be stored in well ventilated, cool and dry locations. Batteries stored in these conditions may be stored:If used batteries are to be removed from service for extended periods (greater than 30 days) they should be discharged to about 50% of their capacity. Store in a cool, dry, location.

[45 dB] I've been testing this little radio in an urban setting and have been able to communicate at 1 mile clearly between two units on the ground with houses everywhere around me. They are cool little radios. They feel tough and rugged. To get the full functionality you need the programming cable to make adjustments to settings and buttons and of course change frequencies to match other radios. Lots of settings to enable or disable like roger beep, emergency button, scan, squelch, etc. When you change the channel it says the channel name out loud over the speaker. It also tells you (out loud) when the batteries are low.

These are business radios but I've taken them on a few hikes with friends. I'm getting way over a mile in the forest clearly. I'm sure you could easily go to 2 miles without hills in between. Longer with zero obstructions. This is a 5 watt radio.

Only one suggestion to Midland. Make this radio in a GMRS/FRS version so the outdoor guys can buy a full 5 watt radio for play too! Not just for work.

Highly recommended.

[16] The CLS-1110 2-way radio by Motorola is small, lightweight and easily accessible for my assisted living staff. If only there was a way to eliminate the protruding antenna (can easily get in the way), this would be the world's most perfect unit!

[0.5 W] My Wife has been confined to bed since October of 2008. We use this Radio for in house and surrounding areas for quick and easy communication. After buying and returning several 2 way Radios for inadequate Audio, the CLS-1110 produces a clear and crisp Audio and is a simple device to operate. All in all the best of the bunch. I can find little that is wrong with the radio

[16] We had some difficulty getting all five walkie-talies to communicate on the same channel. But, as they say: when everything else fails, follow the instructions, the units are performing exactly as we needed. The easy way to program the channel was by using the multi-charger unit.
