Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the 19 mm end opening mean a rod can be screwed into the end of the handle?

A: Sorry but the mention of a 19mm on this handle is an B&H web error for it does not have one. Other Wooden Camera Handles that do are:

Q: 2. Will this handle (in either orientation) get in the way of still photography, ie hit your forehead, if you leave the handle on the hot shoe?

A: While you can get your eye in there, head hitting will be likely.

Q: 3. 1) How useful are all those mounting points on the handle, considering you have to carry the camera by the handle?2) How durable is this system? I'm considering a similar system by Zacuto (a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/888618-REG/Zacuto_Z_BMTH_Blackmagic_Top_Handle.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/888618-REG/Zacuto_Z_BMTH_Blackmagic_Top_Handle.html/a), which I'm sure will be rock solid like all Zacuto products. I always worry about those rosettes, for example--are they metal?3) Does the slide rail come with it?4) How comfortable or uncomfortable is this handle to carry? I've got a heavy camera and will do a lot of carrying on location...Thanks!!

A: 1) As useful as you might need them. You can't expect to use them for many things at the same your trying to carry your camera, but they do come handy when you have your camera on tripod only shoots, like interviews, and you the need to add some small accessories.2) If I had to chose one word for this item: High Quality (thats two). Aside from the wooden label, everything is hard, solid steel. Quality is on par with Zacuto.3) No. I bought Zacuto's 3 rail and they both paired very nicely.4) Very comfortable. Will fit for almost any type of camera handling you might need. I use it for my GH4 rig (7 monitor, cage, dslr baseplate, rods and EF glass) and can't be happy enough. For my needs its a perfect fit.I don't regret buying this. Hope it helps.

Q: 4. Will this handle fit on top of the Redrock Micro ultraCage Black for the c100?

A: Unlike the standards for placement of 15mm rods, there is no standard for handles and unfortunately we are not able to test the compatibility of these two different brands of handles. That being said they do look very similar and the swap may very well work.

Q: 5. Are hot shoes designed to support the weight of the camera and lens hanging from it?

A: Hi William. The intention of this handle is for lightweight camcorder and DSLR camera setups. That said, a hot shoe mount can support heavier cameras depending on the application. If you would like to discuss this further you may email us directly with camera and lens information.

Q: 6. Is this handle good for larger cameras, Ursa Mini Pro for example, with a full load of accessories? I'm wondering if the cold shoe mount will hold the weight.

A: Hi Jason, the Hot Shoe Camera Handle was specifically designed for lightweight camcorders. Since this unit only offers one point of contact, I would recommend a sturdier handle option for the Ursa Mini Pro, like any of our NATO Handle Kits.

Q: 7. What's the weight capacity of this with the Wooden Camera swat rail?

A: We were unable to find a weight rating. However, it is shown with RED cameras. A fully decked out RED with a big Angenieux zoom will be in the 25lbs to 35lbs range. I am of the opinion that weight rating is well within the range of this handle.

Q: 8. Can this be natively mounted to the top of FX6 (with Sony handle removed) without a plate?

A: The Wooden Camera Master Top Handle with Universal Center Screw Channel should work as intended with the FX6

Q: 9. Has anyone mounted this on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera?

A: This particular handle is for an ARRI ALEXA. The screws I would believe would not match up. I would suggest the following handle instead. This handle is made for the BMCC. Yes it is more expensive but Wooden Camera makes outstanding quality items and once on set you will appreciate in the long run the ability of swiftly changing the handle.

Q: 10. What is that rod attachment shown in the picture on the front of the camera/cheese plate?

A: That is two different products from Wooden Camera. First is the Top Plate for C100, C300, C500, while the 2nd product is the the 15mm Tube Clamp for UVF Mount and UVF Mount v2.

[1.6 oz (45 g)] This is not the best or innovative handle on the market, but one that I enjoy the look and feel of each day I use it. Much of camera work is finding efficiencies and tools that help make the experience more enjoyable, and this little handle makes it just that. I like the attention to detail that makes this work in my FX9 ecosystem, and that to me speaks volumes about the design and cleverness that went into this product.

[3.9 x 2 x 0.8"] Feels great in your hand. Highest quality finish that doesn’t scratch. Very solid and has many mounting options for accessories. I love the fact that it screws in very tight and even comes with a wrench to tighten it more. My first product from Wooden Camera and I will definitely be buying more items from this great company.

[3.9 x 2 x 0.8"] This thing is high quality as with all of Wooden Camera's products. I have it on the C100 top plate to hold the C100 handle. Easy to install.

[0.09 lb] I have two of these because they are that good. Out of all the top handles released for the Komodo, I keep coming back to this because it's A) Practical B)Solid and C) provides built in top rod mounts so I can mount a motor for Low profile configurations.

I've used pretty much all of the available Komodo top handles and this is the only top handle I see handle a tough work environment.

[1.6 oz (45 g)] I use this on the Wooden Camera C100 top plate, and it fits perfectly on my C100 MKI. I can mount the C100 handle with the XLR inputs, and still have the top plate handy for mounting monitors, lights, etc. As usual, Wooden Camera's products are top notch. And B&H, as always, has the best price and the quickest shipping. Perfect addition to my camera rig.
