The dual 18" D.A.S. Audio ACTION-S218A is a 3200W powered subwoofer that’s portable, versatile, and simple to use. It is designed to supplement a main PA speaker, offering a louder and deeper bass extension to the ACTION-508A, -512A, -515A, or any full-range PA speaker and is suitable for audiences up to 300. The onboard DSP processing, 2-input channels, and a dedicated crossover knob help working presenters, musicians, instructors, performers, and A/V providers get powerful, clean, and clear sound quickly. The specialty 18FW4 drivers are equipped with double-layer 3" voice-coils with a forced convection circuit that reduces the effects of coil heating for remarkable system power, clarity, depth, and punch.

The subwoofer provides 140 dB of peak SPL—plenty of volume for mid-sized venues including houses of worship, conference centers, performance spaces, and meeting rooms. The highly efficient 3200W Class-D amplifier powers the two 18” woofers, providing a deep, clean, and detailed bass response with a frequency range of from 125 down to 35 Hz.

The rear panel offers two line-level inputs with combo XLR-1/4" connectors. Two XLR Thru-Output are available for daisy-chaining to additional subwoofers / speakers. An integrated 100 Hz high-pass filter is available for the stereo loop-thru XLR outputs, which can be switched on or off; useful for connecting full range tops via the subwoofer. Additionally, the rear panel includes a variable low-pass filter (63 to 100 Hz), gain control, and polarity reverse. All inputs are mixed to a mono signal internally. For a true stereo L/R operation, two S218As are needed with each to receive independent the left and right signals respectively. The S218A features a powerCON input and thru-put for daisy-chaining power for up to four subwoofers. The ACTION-S218A ships with a standard powerCON power cord.

Q: 6. What's the difference between this DRM 18S cab and the SRM 1850 cab? Why is there no specific sub for the SRM215-V-Flex cabs? I want to get the latter but your Mackie sub lines are confusing.

A: There are several differences between the two models and the best option would be based on your system and the type of application you would be using the subwoofer for. The DRM18S-P is a passive subwoofer capable of handling 500W RMS and 2000W peak power from a separate power amp. The SRM1850 is an active subwoofer which has a built-in power amp capable of producing 800W RMS and 1600W peak. The frequency response range and threshold for SPL are the same for both models. The DRM18S-P can be mounted on a pole or suspended while the SRM1850 is designed to be placed on the floor or stage and should not be pole mounted or suspended. I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or need further assistance.

[+8 dBu] So yes. First off this thing cleans up your audio from external mics very well. I've tried this on my motorcycle with the gain set to -10db and it turned out very clear (I am still editing that video). It fits nice and tight onto the side of your Action 3/4. Something to note....you WILL need to remove your usb-c access door to use this. Lucky for you, it removes easily by design and yessss it fits Into your camera while your camera is still in a cage.

Another thing is you CAN use the usb-c port to charge your camera while still using the 3.5mm jack to plug a mic into while recording.
- The 3.5mm jack is a TRS port so your mic has to have 2 lines on the 3.5mm end (not 3) in order to work with this adapter.
- You cannot use the usb-c port of this mic adapter with a usb-c microphone as that mic will not work. If you have a usb-c microphone, plug it directly into the camera to use it.

- the usb-c port of this adapter can be used to transfer files from the camera to your phone/laptop/tablet or PC or charge the camera ONLY.

[Plywood] This is my first PA subwoofer so I don't have much to realistically compare it to but I'm happy for my purposes!
My use:
With 2 mackie thump go's through a mixer for karaoke, backyard parties, garage band, general small portable DJ setup.
I bought used and saved some money on an already good price.
At first I was disappointed with the power and sound when I hooked it to my mixer via the headphone out for volume control.
It turns out my cable was bad or sent a weak signal for the sub.
I replaced the Cable (1/4 TRS to split balanced XLR) and now that the signal is strong and clean and the sub actually sounds GOOD and musical - so a clean strong signal will do wonders with this subwoofer and I think a little break-in period helped it loosen up and improve SQ. Also properly setting the gain staging will help maximize output.
The smaller weight and size of the sub are a big factor for me; it's not that hard to move compared to the majority of other 18's.

If you're looking for a monster teeth rattling single sub with power for a live band in a larger venue this might not be the sub for you but it does great for small/medium DJ applications.
I will likely add another one for outdoor events or bigger venues.
Overall after a few weeks of ownership I recommend it if you manage your expectations

[Plywood] It sounds fantastic. So that's great. However, when shipped from the factory, 4 of the DIP switches in the back were switched to 'off,' preventing basically everything from working. This was frustrating, as, when nothing works, you tend to think the thing is actually broken. Since resolving that issue, however, the subwoofer has been nothing but pure pleasure. It works perfectly with Eve's SC205 speakers.

[Convection, Fan] It completely redefined my way of producing. Delivery was incredibly fast. The Apollo x4 is a beast of an interface and even so the UaD plugins included in the bundle.

[Voicing Modes] From the Universal Audio Website:
The latest UAD software is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit editions), and all Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo and UAD-2 products (Apollo X series, Apollo 8, Apollo 8p, Apollo 16 MkII, Apollo Twin, Apollo Twin MkII, Apollo Solo, Arrow, UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt, and first-generation silver Apollo/Apollo 16 models equipped with a Thunderbolt Option Card).
That was an easy google, and I wonder why the other reviewer wasn't able or willing to do the same before pulling the trigger on this purchase ... or on his review.

I don't understand people who write reviews in which they reveal not a single fact about the product, and instead just confess to their own lack of research before buying.

The Apollo system has come under a lot of pressure, because the better computers get, the less of a need is for UA's system of handling processing in the interface as opposed to the computer's CPU. UA has responded by making more and more of their famous plugins available natively, so you can now run them in your DAW directly.

Whether or not an Apollo is still your best choice depends on the power of your computer, and on how much you appreciate the design, easy usability and overall elegance of a unit like this.

The price is a powerful argument to consider alternatives, unfortunately.
