Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The spec says +5 diopter but the NiSi website says 3x for the 77mm?

A: As per NISI, the 77mm Close-Up lens has a +3 diopter strength.

Q: 2. Is there any way i can use these adapters to use my non magnetic 105mm filters

A: The Kase Magnetic Step-Up Ring for Wolverine Magnetic Filters (105 to 112mm) is only compatible with magnetic filters.

Q: 3. Does this work with older Wolverine (non-revolution) filters?

A: Yes, the Kase Wolverine Revolution Magnetic Step-Up Ring (82-95mm) is compatible with both Wolverine and Revolution line of filters.

Q: 4. how much vignetting would occur on a 82mm filter using a step up ring? unfortunately my sigma 70-200 has 82mm front threads. It wouldn't kill me if I had to crop in a bit to eliminate the vignette.

A: The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 referenced has a 82mm front threading and you would need a step down ring from 82mm to 77mm to mount the NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings. It is possible that this will vignette slightly.

Q: 5. Does this step-up ring work with the Kase Armour magnetic filter holder system?

A: No, the Kase Magnetic Step-Up Ring for Wolverine Magnetic Filters (62 to 82mm) is only for use with the Wolverine and Revolution system. You need to use a standard screwed Step-Up Ring (62-82mm) and attach it to the 82mm magnetic adapter that is in the kit.

Q: 6. Is it necessary to buy this magnetic ring or can you just use a standard threaded step up ring and then thread a normal 82mm Kase magnetic ring to that?

A: It is recommended to use as few adapters as possible in order to keep the filter closer to the lens to avoid vignetting. While an aluminum step up ring and then an 82mm magnetic adapter will fit, it is not recommended.

Q: 7. Will this work on a Canon XF400 camcorder???

A: The efficacy of this lens accessory on sensors smaller than ASP-C has not been listed and is therefore doubtful.

Q: 8. I plan to get the S5 Sigma 20mm f1.4 system but wondered if this particular NiSi 77mm Filter Adapter Ring for S5 Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG Art Lens System will work w it should I use it on other lenses(?). Thanks in advance for any feedback and suggestions.

A: This adapter allows you to use a threaded 77mm filter with the S5 holder on the Sigma 14-24mm lens. To mount the S5 on other lenses you would need the mount for that lens.

Q: 9. can I use the 77mm lens on a 58mm with a step up ring?

A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 58-77mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring, B&H # SESURPA5877, would be compatible for use with the NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings.

Q: 10. Do you have to get a lot closer to the subject when using these closeup lenses?

A: Yes, using the NiSi 77mm Close-Up NC Lens Kit II with 67 and 72mm Step-Up Rings would require you to move physically closer in order to focus effectively on the subject.
