The 1 RU Cloud USA MX155 is a mic/line preamp mixer with five multipurpose mic/line inputs, one dedicated microphone input, a FOH/Aux input, and a talk over feature. Channels 1-5 and the microphone input feature high and low EQ and gain control. The balanced output is provided via 5-pin Euroblock connector, while a stereo RCA is available for recording purposes. A remote muting and emergency signal replay facilitate the use in installed sound system.

The rear panel features stereo RCA line inputs, while balanced microphone inputs use 3-pin Euroblock connectors. The stereo FOH input uses a 5-pin Euroblock connector and a stereo 3.5mm aux input is featured on the front panel for easy integration of portable music players. A dedicated 1/4" headphone output is available for pre-fade monitoring. An internal dip switch offers phantom power to the dedicated microphone channel for use with condenser mics. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just got the iRig Pre HD. It says it will work with Android phones. I want this product to help my students in a course, but I don't have an Android phone myself. I know the lightening cable goes with the iPhone (etc.) but is the cable included that goes into an Android-based phone? I only see 2: lightening and USB.

A: The IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD is compatible with Android devices. Users can connect the Micro USB-to USB cable into an OTG adapter to get into the Android phone. For your reference, you may look at the StarTech Micro USB Male to USB OTG Host Adapter; B&H# STUUSBOTG.

Q: 2. Will the device it pass supplied 48 V phantom power through to a microphone on the input?

A: The Cloudlifter Z Instrument/Mic Activator is not compatible with condenser microphones. The Cloudlifter itself does not pass phantom power, rather, it is powered by phantom power, and uses that to boost the output level of the connected mic or instrument. For condenser microphones that require phantom power, this is the most similar in-line preamp to use: https://bhpho.to/3jLSjQX

Q: 3. Does this come with the cabling to go out to an iPad? Lightning to Lightning?

A: Yes, the iRig Pre HD comes with two cables -- a Lightning to micro-USB cable and a USB to micro-USB cable. The host connector on the iRig is micro-USB. If your iPad uses a Lightning connector, then the Lightning to micro-USB cable is the one to use. If your iPad uses a USB-C connector, use the USB to micro-USB cable together with a Pearstone USB 3.0 Type-C to USB Type-A Adapter (B&H # PEUSB33CA06) or similar USB-C adapter.

Q: 4. Can you monitor while recording?

A: You can monitor from this device while recording. If using an app with a monitor return, then the audio will be processed and returned out the headphone output. If using an app without an audio return, then the Direct Monitoring feature of this device will allow you to hear the audio input, before being sent to the app.

Q: 5. I'm looking at the Cloudlifter CL-1, CL-2 (2-channel), the CL-4 (4-channel 1-up rackmount) and this CL-Z. I understand the value of a switchable high-pass filter (removing low-end rumble, etc.), but I don't understand the value of variable impedance, especially since the CL-Z appears to add a potentiometer to the signal path. Does the "knob" allow you to "tune" the mic to what sounds best to you? What are the physics behind the "Z"? Thanks for your help!

A: Each mic will have it's own resistance rating that will sound best. By being able to adjust it you can fine tune the Cloud Lifter to sound as best as it can with each mic, instead of a one size fits all option. You can also use it creatively to create sounds the mic normally would not be able to do.

Q: 6. Does this preamp work with the video shooting apps (3rd party or standard, such as those on Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra)? If so, does the sound in video become 24bit / 96KHz or it's downsampled to something less when recording?

A: The IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD Audio Interface with Mic Pre is capable of passing audio at a 96 kHz / 24-bit sampling rate, however because it is not a recorder itself, the sampling rate of the audio file would depend on the capabilities of the application used to record. The iRig Pre HD has general compatibility with Android OS, but specific compatibility with third party applications is dependent on the specific application's ability to be used with external microphones.

Q: 7. 2 Qs: 1) Does this add any coloration to the signal; 2) will this work passively while it is powered down? One of the mics I'd be running through it is a Warm WA 47, which doesn't need the phantom power. I want to be sure that I can either go through the powered-up Rolls without it affecting the signal, or turn the Rolls off and just pass through it in passive mode. Sorry for the complicated and poorly phrased question!

A: The Rolls MX310 MorMics 3-Channel Mic Mixer/Combiner requires a power supply to function and is not passive. It does not specify any features that would color the signal specifically, however most electronic circuitry will typically influence the audio signal in some manner, typically minimally.

Q: 8. Are the euroblocks unbalanced compatible?

A: No they are not: Connector Euroblock (Balanced) 3.81 mm Pitch

Q: 9. Can you run the SCM268 stacked or in series? Not sure of the wording. One unit into another so you can use 8 XLR inputs and one XLR output. This is for voice only.

A: I haven't tried this but I imagine you can take the mixed signal output from one unit and run it to one of the channels of a second mixer. You could still adjust the 4 channels of the first mixer but the levels would be limited by the level of the mixed signal output of that first mixer. That make sense?

Q: 10. I'm looking for blend a piezo pickup and condenser mic both mounted on double bass. Does this will works?

A: It might. Give it a try. It is a returnable item.

[1 RU] I'm really happy with how this mixer was designed in the first place. Even though I think it could use an on and off switch, it seems to be just fine when you simply unplug it from the outlet. The volume control works really well and the multiple channels are fantastic. I'm very happy with the output system. It works great with my stereo mic. I hear very little white noise when working with this mixer. A good little machine. :)

[6.945 lb] Was thinking that we needed a whole new matrix amplifier, this fixed our issue perfectly. Doesn't matter if they are handheld mics or lapel mics, this allows us to seamlessly work 4 new microphones with our existing 4 channel amplifier/matrix/mixer.
