[Plastic] I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but it's solid and is great for a cell phone desk tripod. I wouldn't use it with anything heavier than that, but the ball mount is good and it folds down well. With tripods, you get what you pay for, and the MT-16 overdelivers on that front. 5

[Plastic] Perfect as a backpacking tripod, sturdy, and strong. It is stable and the extension is tight, to support to a DSLR. The Ball head is solid. I bought it as a mic stand for a wireless go type of mic, or as a camera tripod for blogging. 5
