Telephoto zoom is designed for DX-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 75-375mm equivalent focal length range.

One extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Vibration Reduction image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops for sharper handheld shooting.

Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.

Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

[Nikon Z] Great lens at an affordable price. I have been using it for about two weeks and I am happy about buying it. I can recommend it.

[APS-C] When I bought my Z50 I continued to use my Nikkor DX AFS-S 55-300mm lens with the FTZ adapter. I could could get great shots with the old lens, but for the longest of shots, I really needed to use a tripod for sharpness - and I wasn't about to carry a tripod every time I went out. The 55-300mm was just too long and heavy for many handheld shots. I bought the Z lens and was amazed at the lighter weight, the sharpness of shots, and the extended range I was getting. I do believe you will save yourself a lot of heartache with this lens. My old lenses still provide great Nikon quality with the FTZ adapter - but when it comes to holding a longer lens steady, the Z DX 50-250 is the way to go.

[Nikon Z] Let me just add to what many others have said about this lens: so much better than you’d expect for the price! I’ve owned a number of zooms over the years from Nikon and Canon, including lenses in the $2,000 range. This Nikon isn’t that good, but it is unbelievably good and would still be an excellent choice for twice the price. The first time I put it on the camera for a few random shots out to my bird feeders, I was immediately getting crisp shots of the birds with very good isolation against a good out of focus background, as you’d expect from a good tele. Also, it feels solid and yet is much lighter than a higher end lens. If, like me, you got tired of hauling around a heavy higher-end lens, and moved to mirrorless, you’ll want this lens for your Z50 if you didn’t buy it with the two lens kit. Really, only a couple of shots will convince you that this is must-have lens.

I also have to add that B&H not only ships this lens as fast or faster than Amazon, but the price was the same and you get a free Hoya filter. Hard to beat this deal all around.

[f/4.5 to 6.3] I use this lens on a Z 50 body primarily for taking ID photos of wildlife & plants for iNaturalist. It does. very well for that purpose though its minimum focusing distance isn't as close as I would like. At f/4.6-6.3, it is a bit slow, but high ISOs make up for this. When I want top quality and macro photos , the D850 with its top 70-300mm lens is my choice. For those who can't afford or don't need top-off the line lenses, this lens is an excellent buy.

[Nikon Z] I purchased a Nikon Z50, a FTZ, 16-50mm lens and added the 50-250mm lens to use on vacation and a walk around group. The 50-250mm lens is an excellent addition to give the Z50 the reach it needs to get BIF and other wild life. I have used it to capture this Hawk in my backyard. I had to shoot it through a window screen

[Autofocus] This is a lens way better then I expected. the VR performance alone justifies it!

It as a little vignetting that is noticeable when shooting at dawn/dusk but nothing that can't be fixed later.

Super-sharp.

The VR mechanism rattles a little when the camera is powered off but it goes quiet when it's on.

[Nikon Z] When I bought my Z50 I was on the fence about buying another DX kit lens. I'd bought them before and was underwhelmed and they just end up in my drawer unused. But I'd heard this lens is sharp. And is was only $200 more in the kit, so I decided to go for it. I'm glad I did as it certainly is sharp. Small size and light weight compliment the Z50 well. It's incredibly light! But it's not without compromise. The lens has a plastic mount, implemented to achieve light weight and low cost. And the wide open f/# is a bit high, another compromise to achieve light weight and low cost. But the main reason I bought the Z50 is for it's small size and weight, so these are compromises worth making. Did I say it's sharp? :-)
