Featuring a 290 gsm basis weight, 60% of this paper is made from hemp fibers. The base material has a bright white natural tone, and thanks to the bright white color of the hemp fibers, optical brighteners are not needed. A lightly textured surface gives the paper a silky feel, and the paper provides deep blacks with contrast that stands out with eye-catching effect. Compatible with pigment and dye inkjet systems, the acid- and lignin-free paper has a high age resistance, which makes it well-suited for long-lasting prints in galleries, exhibitions, and museums.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have an Epson printer stylus 1400, and old one . What is the maximum thickness of photo paper that I can use in my printer ?

A: The Epson Stylus 1400 can handle papers from .003 to .004 inches or .08 to .11 mm in thickness. If you're interested in Hahnemuhle Photo Luster 290, it is 290 microns in thickness. or .29 mm, so the Epson Stylus 1400 cannot handle that thickness. You can use Epson photo papers if they are within the specs and I believe most are for that printer series. The thickness should be indicated on the box or in the specs for the paper.

Q: 2. Are all the sheets in this sample pack the same finish, Matte Smooth Fine Art? If not, what are the other surface finishes in the pack?

A: Two Sheets of Each Paper Type: Rice Paper 100 gsm Photo Rag Book & Album 220 gsm Bamboo 290 gsm Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305 gsm Photo Rag 308 gsm Photo Rag Bright White 310 gsm

Q: 3. What's the single sided equivalent of this paper? It has more texture than the ultra smooth but less than the standard photo rag. Just wondering because I love this paper but don't need double sided. Thanks!

A: The Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Bright White would be the most similar single sided option: https://bhpho.to/3HYbbGg

Q: 4. A client wants to know about this paper's longevity? What can I tell him?

A: As with most good quality fine art inkjet papers, their archival longevity typically exceeds 30 years. In some of Hahnemuhle's products, the lifespan of a print can be upwards of 200 years. While we couldn't find any archival testing results from them on the Matt Fiber Duo, proper use-case will ensure your prints will last many, many years. For best results, please follow typical archival guidelines, and see Hahnemuhle's website on longevity here: https://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/longevity.html

Q: 5. Where do I find the ICC Profile for this paper? I have an iMac and an Epson R2880

A: You can find the ICC profiles on Hahnemuhle's website at this link:http://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/icc-profiles.htmlThere is a drop down menu that allows you to select your printer brand, model and the paper type. Once you have selected your printer and paper, you will be able to download the profiles.

Q: 6. Will color images on this warm tone paper be biased towards yellow?

A: The Hahnemuhle Matt Fibre Duo 210 Inkjet Photo Paper has a warm, almost cream like color.

Q: 7. How many sheets in the box?

A: 25 sheets are included in one box.

Q: 8. What is the mil of this fine art paper?

A: It is about 19mil.

Q: 9. May I use this Hahnemuhle Etching paper for printing my etching through a printing press? Is it good for use with etching inks? Are there any special coatings on it for photographer's use? Thank you!

A: Hahnemühle Museum Etching Paper is designed for use in inkjet printers. You can experiment using it for other processes but there are no specific known results using this paper with the method you described.

[Matte] This paper surprised me. It copied my photographs of my pastel drawings so beautifully. The colors, contrast and the weight and texture are on point.

[290 gsm] I didn't think I would love the cooler tones as much as I do but it is absolutely perfect for black and white!

[35 to 65%] I have a fairly old, Canon inkjet printer. Honestly, I thought it was going to be good for nothing more than printing off standard documents. But oh man, this paper works wonders with this printer. The photos come out bright and have beautiful colors. I recommend this paper 1000%!

[89%] Straight off, I wondered it the profile would be close to those for Agave or Bamboo-Nope! So I downloaded the available Hahnemhle profile and it was fine. I will profile the paper myself to see if I can eke out a tiny improvement over the canned one. It's nice to have one more slightly different paper base to turn to in terms of paper color and texture. Reading the literature, I discovered that I had completely missed another Hahnemhle product based on a fourth alternative fiber source, sugar cane! Seems not to be available any more. I regret not having been able to try it.

[290 gsm] I'll leave the science to someone else, let's talk intantangibles. Agave has a feel, texture and tonality that lens itself to toned B&W imagery. For me it's that beautiful, subtle, thiourea toner look we strived for in wet prints. On an image with lots of lighter tones, on Agave, we can add just a little highlight warming in post, leaving the blacks alone and get these stunning warm prints, with this beautiful paper texture that creeps through those areas with little to no image detail.
