Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the mic have a mute button? If not can you mute mics from the receiver?

A: There is no mute button on the transmitter or receiver of the Shure SLXD24D/B58 Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System with Beta 58 Capsules. Any muting would need to be done via the mixing desk.

Q: 2. Is there a way to tell the battery status from the microphone itself?

A: Yes there is. The green (charged) LED indicator lamp will glow red when it is time to recharge.

Q: 3. can i use it in europe , voltage problems maybe?

A: Power requirements aside (other responses given here are correct), available & legal transmission frequencies will vary greatly from country to country. I would recommend contacting Shure's Wireless Application division (1-800-516-2525, ext 4) to ensure your system will function well and operate legally where you need to use it.

Q: 4. Does it come with rack mount hardware?

A: Yes, rack mount hardware is included for the receiver.

Q: 5. Can I use it for my glxd4 z2 beta 87a?

A: The microphone capsules on the GLXD2 Handheld transmitters are fully integrated (hard-wired into the transmitter) so if you are looking to switch out your current mic capsule for another, this is not possible in the GLXD Series. Your only option in that case would be to purchase another GLXD2 transmitter all together, which can in turn be used with your existing GLXD4 receiver. If you might be looking to replace the capsule because you believe it may be defective, then it is best to seek repair under warranty from Shure (additional details regarding warranty coverage and procedure for return can be found on a href= http://Shure.com target= _blank Shure.com/a).

Q: 6. is the body of mic plastic or metal ?

A: Shure uses a Metal body casing for all of its QLXD receivers and transmitters.

Q: 7. Will this system work within a studio setting? Will the signal travel through a block wall?

A: You can use the Shure SLXD24D/SM58 Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System in a studio setting if you keep the receiver in the same room as the transmitters and run a longer cable from the receiver output to the inputs on the mixer. The signal will not transmit through cinder block walls.

Q: 8. Does this pair with any gooseneck mic system from Shure ?

A: The Shure SLXD24D/SM58 only works with other Shure SLX-D components. There are no Shure wireless SLX-D gooseneck systems.

Q: 9. Can I use this with phantom power

A: While this unit doesn't require phantom power, the unit can be used with phantom power on.

Q: 10. Why is it not compatible with the BLX?

A: BLX wireless series features a fully integrated capsule in its handheld transmitters. This means that the microphone capsule is hardwired into the transmitter handle which does not allow it to be removed to change capsule types. BLX and GLX-D are the only Shure wireless series with handheld transmitters like this. All other current series allow you to switch out the capsule and are compatible with this product.

[Dynamic] I use these mics mostly for speeches and they work great.

[1 / 10 mW] We decided to go wireless, with a little concern that it may introduce more variables and opportunities for static or dropouts.

This has been fantastic results. Love the freedom, strong signal, and full and crisp sound. Sounds better than our quite old wired mics. I was a little concerned if it would pickup stage monitor sound which are right in front of us, but that is no issue whatsoever.

I ended up buying more.

Just added the rechargeable batteries and docking stations and it EVEN BETTER. It provides more precise time estimates of remaining battery power, which are reasonably accurate.

[3.2 ms] Our church bought a large batch of these to replace our ULX systems that were in an outdated frequency band. We liked our ULX and had them for years, but these are a definite step up.
The mic body is made of metal and feels very solid. The power switch is sturdy too, and gives a tactile click so you can be sure you turned it on without having to look.
The range seems very good. We use these at a distance of 60-70 feet, and the signal is very strong using just the antennas that come with the unit.
One thing these do way better than the ULX is battery life. These use AAs (compared to 9V for the ULX), and we get around 10 hours of battery life out of them (compared to about 3 with the ULX). We use NiMH rechargeables, and they work just fine.
These QLXDs will be our go-to in the future for sure.
