The Shure SLXD2/B87A is a digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter compatible with SLX-D receivers. It comes equipped with the Beta 87A supercardioid condenser capsule designed to withstand extreme sound pressure levels, while still delivering a remarkably smooth frequency response for vocal performers and presenters. The capsule features a supercardioid polar pattern that offers excellent rejection of off-axis background noise, helping to reduce feedback.

The system operates on a 44 MHz UHF tuning range with 1760 frequencies available. The transmitter features a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or a rechargeable SB903 battery pack (available separately).

The SLXD2/B87A handheld transmitter delivers crystal-clear, 24-bit digital audio quality and reliable RF performance in a lightweight, yet durable aluminum housing. It is well suited for use in small- to medium-sized venues and houses of worship or with A/V installations in a conference, educational, or corporate facilities.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use it for my glxd4 z2 beta 87a?

A: The microphone capsules on the GLXD2 Handheld transmitters are fully integrated (hard-wired into the transmitter) so if you are looking to switch out your current mic capsule for another, this is not possible in the GLXD Series. Your only option in that case would be to purchase another GLXD2 transmitter all together, which can in turn be used with your existing GLXD4 receiver. If you might be looking to replace the capsule because you believe it may be defective, then it is best to seek repair under warranty from Shure (additional details regarding warranty coverage and procedure for return can be found on a href= http://Shure.com target= _blank Shure.com/a).

Q: 2. BLX24/PG58-H11 What is difference in the H-11 and H-9?

A: The difference between the H9 frequency band of the Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule and the H11 frequency band is the operational frequencies. H9 covers 512 to 542 MHz, and H11 covers 572 to 596 MHz. Deciding which one is best can be influenced by factors such as location (where Shure's Frequency Finder comes in handy) as well as whether you are using the new wireless system(s) alongside any existing wireless, and if so, how the new frequencies will interact with the existing frequencies.

Q: 3. We currently have several BLX24 systems on H8 frequency and would like to add 2 more matching systems. Will systems on H9 frequency work with H8 systems? Frequencies overlap (H8: 518 - 542 MHz v. H9: 512 - 542 MHz).

A: Yes, should all be able to be used together so long as the number of systems you are running within the same range does not exceed the amount of bandwidth available. For optimal coordination, it is preferred to utilize best practice by running a frequency scan on each system individually in sequence so that they can each find an optimal available frequency. As the question may also pertain to using the transmitters of one band with the other, to clarify, this can be done. However it is important to note the difference in frequency ranges of each band. For example, if an H9 receiver lands on a lower frequency group not covered by H8 transmitters, you cannot sync the transmitter to that unit (it cannot be set to the matching group). It's best to run a channel scan within a group you know both bands have in common to avoid this outcome and but still utilize the benefit of the system's frequency scan.

Q: 4. can i use it in europe , voltage problems maybe?

A: Power requirements aside (other responses given here are correct), available & legal transmission frequencies will vary greatly from country to country. I would recommend contacting Shure's Wireless Application division (1-800-516-2525, ext 4) to ensure your system will function well and operate legally where you need to use it.

Q: 5. Will the receiver transmit static when the mic is off?

A: The Shure BLX4 receiver in the Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule should not, in theory, create any noise when not paired with the PG58 transmitter. However, this is not a specification that manufacturers provide for their wireless products. Because this system operates on open frequencies, the receiver could be susceptible to RF activity in the area, which could manifest itself as audible static noise.

Q: 6. Does the on/off switch have a mute option?

A: It does not have a formal mute button. You can turn it off and then on again and it will stay on the same channel.

Q: 7. is the body of mic plastic or metal ?

A: Shure uses a Metal body casing for all of its QLXD receivers and transmitters.

Q: 8. Is this microphone brand new?

A: Yes, the Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule is a brand new item in the original manufacturer's packaging with a full manufacturer's warranty.

Q: 9. Is this just plug and play what else I need to play my instruments do I have to connected to my computer and download software?

A: The Shure BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System is not an audio interface and cannot connect directly to a computer. To connect this or any other microphone/wireless system to your computer, you would need an audio interface such as BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System also does not have any support for connecting instruments. It comes with a handheld transmitter, although beltpack transmitters with an instrument input are available separately.

Q: 10. Can I use this on a current SM58 body?

A: The RPW120 is a replacement capsule for Shure wireless transmitters. Compatible with the SLX, QLX-D and ULX series wireless transmitters. Not compatible with Shure wired handheld mics.

[117 dB] The Ulxd series from Shure is incredibly fast to setup and sync. After using the uhf-r, these are just way better. You also get 3 transmit power levels in this handle which helps out when your antennas are far away from stage. They are metal housed and very strong. The display is very easy to read, ALTHOUGH, I do like the display on the SLXD better, especially on the transmitter. SLXD has better contrast and easier to read. I have also used the Dante on the Ulxd series. Works great. I have 6 in a rack and one cat6 cable puts them all on the network. No xlr needed if you have a Dante enabled mixer. The available frequencies after a scan in WWB6 are usually around 40-50 in Los Angeles in the g50 band, which is plenty for me. The only thing I would like to see Shure improve on is the battery tray contacts. My frantic customers have broken them several times jamming batteries in sideways. Maybe curl the sides of the contacts more so when they do try and sideways insert it might take the battery without snapping off. Other than that, these handles have been rock solid in the many live performances I have used them on.

[Supercardioid] I recently converted my Shure SM58 wireless mic into a Beta 87A by purchasing this new cartridge. It makes the mic a bit lighter and a bit shorter, but the purpose of switching it out was to reduce feedback, and so far that it has done!!!Glad to have made this purchase.Thanks!!... This was the lowest price I could find on the internet, as well.

[8.2 dBV] We have this mic in addition to a couple of Shure GLXDs with Beta 58 mics. We like those mics, but this one really blows them out of the water!

[Supercardioid] We decided to go wireless, with a little concern that it may introduce more variables and opportunities for static or dropouts.

This has been fantastic results. Love the freedom, strong signal, and full and crisp sound. Sounds better than our quite old wired mics. I was a little concerned if it would pickup stage monitor sound which are right in front of us, but that is no issue whatsoever.

I ended up buying more.

Just added the rechargeable batteries and docking stations and it EVEN BETTER. It provides more precise time estimates of remaining battery power, which are reasonably accurate.

[50 Hz to 20 kHz] I really like this mic. I've got a soprano that can literally overdrive a standard microphone but this Bate 87 appears to handle her voice with clarity. I would recommend this mic to anyone.
