The Shure SLXD24/K8B offers presenters and performers a handheld wireless microphone system that's dependable, easy to set up, and features crystal-clear, digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, single-channel, half-rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs and long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration includes the SLXD2 handheld transmitter featuring an interchangeable microphone capsule design and equipped with a KSM8 dual-diaphragm dynamic capsule. The KSM8 minimizes proximity effect, delivering a consistent sound even when the distance between the mic and the sound source varies. The cardioid polar pattern provides a clean, richly detailed signal with reduced feedback, great for speech and vocals in live venues.

The lightweight metal transmitter features a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately).

The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4 receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio output. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links the them together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single receiver.

  • With durable aluminum housing, the SLXD2 handheld transmitter offers a lightweight design that's comfortable to hold,  and it features an LCD to show essential information.
  • The KSM8's hardened, dent-resistant grille is lined with hydrophobic woven fabric, which rejects moisture as well as plosives.
  • The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to choose the ideal capsule for your application. Shure offers a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with varying pickup patterns—capsules include the Beta 58A, Beta 87A, and SM58.

  • The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound.
  • The system operates in the H55: 514 to 558 MHz UHF band with a 44 MHz tuning range and 1760 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
  • With a low latency of 3.2 ms, the system is ideal for events that require live sound reinforcement.
  • The SLX-D's spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
  • Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.
  • Ethernet networking saves you time with coordinated group scanning between multiple receivers from a single location; TCPI command streams from third-party companies such as AMX and Crestron are also supported.

  • Housed in a tough, half-rack metal chassis with detachable antennas, the SLXD4 receiver is a great fit for A/V installations or as part of a portable rackmount rig—ready to travel to a meeting or event.
  • The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
  • Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
  • The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitter then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
  • The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain and the display shows you where the ideal level should be.

  • Adding the SB903 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, along with an SBC10-903 single charger or an SBC203 dual-docking charger, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away AA batteries (battery and chargers available separately).
  • Using the SB903 battery and SBC203 charger simplifies the task of keeping multiple transmitters charged and ready—you can even recharge the battery while still in the transmitter.
  • When powered by an SB903, the transmitter displays the remaining battery life in hours and minutes.

  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.

Shure offers a bodypack transmitter with a variety of lavalier and headset microphones to adapt your system as your needs evolve.

  • The WL183 (omnidirectional), WL185 (cardioid), and WL184 (supercardioid) lavalier mics offer hands-free presentation options.
  • The miniature WL93 and subminiature MX150 mics are smaller, easy-to-conceal lavaliers.
  • The PGA31 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this just plug and play what else I need to play my instruments do I have to connected to my computer and download software?

A: The Shure BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System is not an audio interface and cannot connect directly to a computer. To connect this or any other microphone/wireless system to your computer, you would need an audio interface such as BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The BLX24/SM58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System also does not have any support for connecting instruments. It comes with a handheld transmitter, although beltpack transmitters with an instrument input are available separately.

Q: 2. is the body of mic plastic or metal ?

A: Shure uses a Metal body casing for all of its QLXD receivers and transmitters.

Q: 3. Will this receiver work with the ew 100 G3 Transmitter?

A: The ew 100 -835 G4 is a complete wireless system that includes the EM 100 G4 receiver and an SKM 100 G4 handheld transmitter. The G4 series is backwards compatible for use with older G3 series components, as long as the frequency bands are the same for both components. The EM 100 G4 receiver can also be used with a bodypack transmitter such as the SK 100 G4 and G3 models to connect a lavalier or headset microphone. Only one transmitter can be used at a time with the receiver and the operating frequencies must match. Please contact us if you would like assistance.

Q: 4. Can i add additional 3 mic to the receiver?

A: no, you need one receiver for each microphoneon the plus side, these mics sound BEAUTIFUL

Q: 5. can i use it in europe , voltage problems maybe?

A: Power requirements aside (other responses given here are correct), available & legal transmission frequencies will vary greatly from country to country. I would recommend contacting Shure's Wireless Application division (1-800-516-2525, ext 4) to ensure your system will function well and operate legally where you need to use it.

Q: 6. What is the maximum length for the cable connecting the receiver and the amplifier? I want to mount the receiver in a place without obstacles between the mic & receiver. Thanks!

A: You can use any audio cable (1/4 or XLR) of most any commonly available length to connect the receiver to your mixer/amplifier, and can also easily extend the reach of the provided power supply with an extension cord. That said, I would caution sending analog output along a cable run that is over 300ft long as the audio quality of a mic-level output will start to degrade; however, 300 feet should still provide plenty of flexibility for receiver placement to achieve a clear line-of-sight.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with Shure UA874 antennas?

A: The Shure SLXD24/B58 Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System with Beta 58A Capsule (G58: 470 to 514 MHz), BH # SHSLXD24BG, is fully compatible with the Shure UA874 Active Directional Antenna (B&H # SHUA874US).

Q: 8. Will this work with a Shure ULXS system? Thanks.

A: Yes this Titan series case will fit a ULXS system.

Q: 9. Can this unit be rack mounted?

A: The Shure BLX24/PG58 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with PG58 Capsule (H11: 572 to 596 MHz), BH # SH24PG58H11, is a tabletop model and cannot be rack mounted with rack ears. Using a rack shelf would be a good option.

Q: 10. Does the on/off switch have a mute option?

A: It does not have a formal mute button. You can turn it off and then on again and it will stay on the same channel.

[25 kHz] I was reluctant to fork over this much money for a dynamic mic. But I had heard some great things about the KSM8, so I took a chance. I am extremely happy with that decision. Amazing, full sounding mic with a very even and pleasant tone. Plus really good feedback rejection. (i'm not working with blasting monitors as a work in the jazz world, but at the levels I'm performing at, the feedback rejection is superb.) I use it mostly with my wife who has a fairly soft soprano voice and the overall sound is flat and even thoughout the frequency range (though clear and open) with no emphasis or tones that stick out. It's kind of difficult to describe my first impression except to say that it's beefy without being muddy, and still sounding open at the top. It sounds much better than the more expensive Neumann KMS 105 she was using with much better off axis rejection. Best, most even dynamic mic I've ever used.

[-51.5 dBV/Pa] Very natural sounding and easy (and pricey!) to use vocal microphone. All the stuff about huge sweet spot, controlled proximity effect, and natural midrange is true. OTOH, if you're looking for the 8kHz zing, it's missing in action.

[Digital UHF ] I love this mic. Sounds really excellent in a mix, and whatever bleed from the band actually sounds good and adds something positive - like another nice room mic. Takes EQ very well. I would say it does the things a 58 does for live vocals while sounding like a supercharged SM7. It's pricey, but I'd buy again.

[0 +21 dB] B&H is great. They always have what I need. The product is exactly as advertised. The capsule is a great step up in quality and response from an SM58, or a Beta 87. I have found that this capsule is less prone to high frequency problems that you may find with a KSM9. Both are very nice.

[DHCP, Manual IP] I cannot say enough good things about this microphone. The cost is well worth the performance. It works well indoors and outdoors.

[Handheld] Using on tour on my lead vocalist. Her keyboard vocal mic is a standard 58 so I'm able to compare the two directly night to night. Every time she walks over to the keyboard mic I cringe a little bit. KSM's lack of a presence peak hits the PA very nicely. Overall smooth response, consistent with distance and off axis as well. Surprising Electro Voice didn't try this in a handheld sooner...
