The Shure SLXD24/SM58 offers presenters and performers a wireless handheld microphone system that's dependable, easy to set up, and features crystal-clear, digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, single-channel, half-rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration includes the SLXD2 handheld transmitter featuring an interchangeable microphone capsule design and equipped with the SM58 cardioid dynamic capsule, an industry standard for vocalists and presenters. The lightweight metal transmitter features a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately).

  • With durable aluminum housing, the SLXD2 handheld transmitter offers a lightweight design that's comfortable to hold and features an LCD to show essential information.
  • The SM58 dynamic microphone capsule features a cardioid polar pattern that minimizes background noise and feedback, while its brightened midrange and bass roll-off deliver that sought-after warm and clear vocal reproduction.
  • The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to choose the ideal capsule for your application. Shure offers a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with varying pickup patterns—capsules include the Beta 58A, Beta 87A, and KSM8.

  • The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound for your events.
  • The system operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band with a 44 MHz tuning range and 1760 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
  • With a low latency of 3.2 ms, the system is ideal for performances and conferences that require live sound reinforcement.
  • The SLX-D's spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
  • Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.
  • Ethernet networking saves you time with coordinated group scanning between multiple receivers from a single location; TCPI command streams from third-party companies such as AMX and Crestron are also supported.

  • Housed in a tough, half-rack metal chassis with detachable antennas, the SLXD4 receiver is a great fit for A/V installations or as part of a portable rackmount rig—ready to travel to a meeting or event.
  • The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
  • Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
  • The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitter then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
  • The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain and the display shows you where the ideal level should be.

  • Adding the SB903 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, along with an SBC10-903 single charger or an SBC203 dual-docking charger, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away AA batteries (battery and chargers available separately).
  • Using the SB903 battery and SBC203 charger simplifies the task of keeping multiple transmitters charged and ready—you can even recharge the battery while still in the transmitter.
  • When powered by an SB903, the transmitter displays the remaining battery life in hours and minutes.

  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.

  • Shure offers a bodypack transmitter with a variety of lavalier and headset microphones to adapt your system as your needs evolve.
  • The WL183 (omnidirectional), WL185 (cardioid), and WL184 (supercardioid) lavalier mics offer hands-free presentation options.
  • The miniature WL93 and subminiature MX150 mics are smaller, easy-to-conceal lavaliers.
  • The discreet MX153 subminiature earset mic provides exceptional clarity in spoken word applications.
  • The PGA31 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the on/off switch have a mute option?

A: It does not have a formal mute button. You can turn it off and then on again and it will stay on the same channel.

Q: 2. whats the difference between this 2 kits Shure BLX24 Handheld Wireless System With Beta 58A Mic (J10: 584 - 608 MHz) and Shure BLX24/SM58 Vocal Wireless System Basic Kit (H9: 512 to 542 MHz)???

A: The Beta 58a is a different microphone. It is also in a different frequency block. The kit with the SM58 also comes with a bag, cable. and windscreen.

Q: 3. Does the receiver of this system use a removable battery?

A: The Shure SLXD4D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Receiver in the Shure SLXD14D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Bodypack System with No Mics does not use an internal battery but rather receives a 100 to 240 VAC external power connection from a dedicated power supply.

Q: 4. We currently have several BLX24 systems on H8 frequency and would like to add 2 more matching systems. Will systems on H9 frequency work with H8 systems? Frequencies overlap (H8: 518 - 542 MHz v. H9: 512 - 542 MHz).

A: Yes, should all be able to be used together so long as the number of systems you are running within the same range does not exceed the amount of bandwidth available. For optimal coordination, it is preferred to utilize best practice by running a frequency scan on each system individually in sequence so that they can each find an optimal available frequency. As the question may also pertain to using the transmitters of one band with the other, to clarify, this can be done. However it is important to note the difference in frequency ranges of each band. For example, if an H9 receiver lands on a lower frequency group not covered by H8 transmitters, you cannot sync the transmitter to that unit (it cannot be set to the matching group). It's best to run a channel scan within a group you know both bands have in common to avoid this outcome and but still utilize the benefit of the system's frequency scan.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with Shure UA874 antennas?

Q: 7. I bought this exact set 4 years ago and I use it every day in the classroom: Sept-June. Is it not supposed to last longer? Is 4 years its lifespan?

A: A wireless mic system like the Samson AirLine 88x Wireless Fitness Headset Microphone System can last longer than four years. If used every day, it is possible for a component to be damaged that could cause the system to stop working. [>70 dB] I've used the Shure SLXD series now at 8 events. They've been great. I bought the rechargeable batteries and I'm getting 7.5 hours out of them. The setup is fast. They scan the open frequencies in less than 10 seconds. Very happy with this series!

[Cardioid] The Shure SLXD mic system is a great upgrade to the older SLX system. The setup is fast with open frequency scans in less than 10 seconds. It's also nice that this unit scans for both mics at once. The mics have a nice professional feel to them. The all metal housing of the mics is a great feature. Battery life is great at over 7.5 hours. Sound is just as good as a wired mic. Very happy with this series.

[1x Handheld] I am a professional wedding DJ, do over 100 a year, for a living. Just got two of these mics, after calling Shure to find out which frequency is best for the Denver area (H22). The mics are awesome! I had an older SLX analog, and the difference is night and day. No drop outs, super solid signal, (and I have them buried in a podium, one with 1/4waves, and the distance mic has 1/2waves mounted on the outside of the podium. And the vocal reproduction is rich, and comes in with plenty of oomph. I paid up and got the Beta 58A mics, with rechargeable batteries.....it was an investment, but you truly get what you pay for and these mics do not disappoint.

[Aluminum] As a Wedding DJ, I have a console with room for only one 19-inch rack mount mic receiver. I was going to buy two single units, but I didn't want four antennas. I stumbled across the SLX4D4 that's two receivers in one that only uses two antennas... PERFECT! And, it's easy to configure and sounds fantastic!

[DHCP, Manual IP] My Sure wireless microphone system is top notch. I love it. It worked flawlessly from the time I plugged it up without me having to change the channels. I'm really considering ordering another one just to have when I get those requests for three to four microphone set ups. Thanks B&H
