The Shure SLXD24D/B58 offers two presenters or performers a dual-channel wireless handheld microphone system that's dependable, easy to set up, and features crystal-clear, digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, dual-channel, single rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration includes two SLXD2 handheld transmitters, each featuring an interchangeable microphone capsule design and equipped with a Beta 58A dynamic capsule. The Beta 58A has a supercardioid pickup pattern that focuses on speech, helping to reduce feedback on loud stages. The lightweight metal transmitters feature a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. Power is supplied by two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately) for up to 8 hours.

The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4D receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio outputs. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs for each channel. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links them together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single receiver.

  • With durable aluminum housing, the SLXD2 handheld transmitter offers a lightweight design that's comfortable to hold, and it features an LCD to show essential information.
  • The Beta 58A dynamic microphone capsule handles high SPL levels and has a tailored frequency response that accentuates clarity of vocals; a tight supercardioid pattern ensures high gain before feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off-axis tone coloration.
  • The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to choose the ideal capsule for your application. Shure offers a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with varying pickup patterns—capsules include the Beta 87A, SM58, and KSM8.

  • The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound for your events.
  • The system operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band with a 44 MHz tuning range and 1760 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
  • With a low latency of 3.2 ms, the system is ideal for applications that require live sound reinforcement.
  • The SLX-D's spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
  • Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.
  • Ethernet networking saves you time with coordinated group scanning between multiple receivers from a single location; TCPI command streams from third-party companies such as AMX and Crestron are also supported.

  • Housed in a tough, single-rack metal chassis with detachable antennas, the SLXD4D dual-channel receiver is a great fit for A/V installations or as part of a portable rackmount rig—ready to travel to a meeting or event.
  • The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
  • Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
  • The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitters then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
  • The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain and the display shows you where the ideal levels should be.

  • Adding the SB903 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, along with an SBC10-903 single charger or an SBC203 dual-docking charger, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away AA batteries (battery and chargers available separately).
  • Using the SB903 battery and SBC203 charger simplifies the task of keeping multiple transmitters charged and ready—you can even recharge the battery while still in the transmitter.
  • When powered by an SB903 battery, each transmitter displays the remaining run time in hours and minutes.

  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.

  • Shure offers a bodypack transmitter with a variety of lavalier and headset microphones to adapt your system as your needs evolve.
  • The WL183 (omnidirectional), WL185 (cardioid), and WL184 (supercardioid) lavalier mics offer hands-free presentation options.
  • The miniature WL93 and subminiature MX150 mics are smaller, easy-to-conceal lavaliers.
  • The discreet MX153 subminiature earset mic provides exceptional clarity in spoken word applications.
  • The PGA31 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the receiver connect to my mirrorless camera or computer to live stream a presentation?

A: Yes, you just need to connect the Shure SLXD4D receiver to the camera's audio input or to an audio interface such as B&H # FOSSOLO4G to allow for use with livestreaming software.

Q: 2. I have the Dual-Channel System with H55: 514 to 558 MHz band. I want to get a second unit. Should I buy the same frequency band?

A: In most cases you can use the same frequency band, but to be sure, please click the following link. The Shure Frequency Finder will show you how many microphones you can use per frequency band based on your zip code. https://www.shure.com/en-US/support/tools/frequency-finder

Q: 3. Can I stack multiple of these units? Thanks!

A: Shure does not recommend stacking multiple BLX88 and BLX4 receivers on top of each other since the antennas are built into the casing. You may want to consider the BLX4R receivers instead since this model has external antennas and multiple receivers can be easily rackmounted and stacked on top of each other without blocking the signal from going to the antennas.

Q: 4. Can I use this with phantom power

A: While this unit doesn't require phantom power, the unit can be used with phantom power on.

Q: 5. Will this system work within a studio setting? Will the signal travel through a block wall?

A: You can use the Shure SLXD24D/SM58 Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System in a studio setting if you keep the receiver in the same room as the transmitters and run a longer cable from the receiver output to the inputs on the mixer. The signal will not transmit through cinder block walls.

Q: 6. is the body of mic plastic or metal ?

A: Shure uses a Metal body casing for all of its QLXD receivers and transmitters.

Q: 7. How long is the flexible gooseneck ?

A: The Flexible gooseneck is about 3.3 inches in height.

Q: 8. What are the physical dimensions of the receiver?

A: The dimensions of the Shure SLXD4D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Receiver included with the Shure SLXD24D/SM58 Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System are 15.5 x 1.7 x 6" (393 x 42 x 152 mm).

Q: 9. Does the receiver have a replacement battery, or it needs a power supply cable to work?

A: The Shure BLX88 Dual-Channel Tabletop Wireless Receiver in the Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System does not offer the ability to power via battery and requires a Shure PS24US Power Supply to function properly.

Q: 10. I HAD THE BLX2 88 OLD MODEL WITH ANTENNAS,AND 2 SM58A MIC,I LIKE TO ADD ON BLX288/58, ARE THEY CAN BE WORK TOGETHER? THANKS, RICK.

A: Yes, you can use the Shure BLX288/B58 Dual-Channel Wireless Handheld Microphone System with Beta 58A Capsules and your older Shure BLX series wireless microphone system at the same time. It doesn't matter whether the two systems operate on different frequency bands or if they both are on the same band. Since the BLX series system has 123 individual frequencies within the band, up to 12 BLX series systems that operate on the same band can be used at the same time within a 300 foot range without any problems.

[Digital UHF ] I already own 2 QLXD mics with the distro and Antenna fins and have never had an issue.  I live in NJ and for all the ocean/beach/NYC events with all sorts of wireless going on around me, they’ve been stellar.  So I purchased two more for a compact system when I don’t need to carry my bigger rack system.  And the beauty of it, is when I need to use four mics I can hook these two up two my Shure distro system!  I also opted for the sm58Beta heads on my mics.  the ordering and delivery from B&H was spot on and they always do a great shop in their service.

[50 Hz to 16 kHz] My Sure wireless microphone system is top notch. I love it. It worked flawlessly from the time I plugged it up without me having to change the channels. I'm really considering ordering another one just to have when I get those requests for three to four microphone set ups. Thanks B&H

[1% ] We decided to go wireless, with a little concern that it may introduce more variables and opportunities for static or dropouts.

After initial success with SLX, I added this, which has beed great success. Love the freedom, strong signal, and full and crisp sound. Sounds better than our quite old wired mics. I was a little concerned if it would pickup stage monitor sound which are right in front of us (wondered if SM58 would be preferable) , but that is no issue whatsoever.

Just added the rechargeable batteries and docking stations and it EVEN BETTER. It provides more precise time estimates of remaining battery power, which are reasonably accurate. A little extra investment but worth the simplicity and ease of keeping everything charged sufficiently.

[32] Our church bought a large batch of these to replace our ULX systems that were in an outdated frequency band. We liked our ULX and had them for years, but these are a definite step up.
The mic body is made of metal and feels very solid. The power switch is sturdy too, and gives a tactile click so you can be sure you turned it on without having to look.
The range seems very good. We use these at a distance of 60-70 feet, and the signal is very strong using just the antennas that come with the unit.
One thing these do way better than the ULX is battery life. These use AAs (compared to 9V for the ULX), and we get around 10 hours of battery life out of them (compared to about 3 with the ULX). We use NiMH rechargeables, and they work just fine.
These QLXDs will be our go-to in the future for sure.
