Q: 1. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Q: 2. So if I upgrade to a mesh wifi router which has only one ethernet in-port than my old non-mesh wifi router, is this the right device to, in effect, add more ethernet-in ports to the mesh router? Is there a performance hit using this?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Unmanaged Switch is exactly what one would use in the case you described, at no detriment to performance.

Q: 3. How is this mountable on a 19" rack when it is only 11" side?

A: The TL-SG1024S comes with brackets that allow it to be mounted in a standard network rack. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: 4. I would like to know what is the power adapter input power data: voltage and frequency?

A: As per the manufacture the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE Unmanaged Switch uses a 56W Power Supply.

Q: 5. Can this switch hand out DHCP?

A: Since the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Managed Switch is a managed switch, you are able to hand out DHCP.

Q: 6. Is the cloud or hardware controller a must? Or it can be configured via web Ui and/or app?

A: The TP-Link Jetstream TL-SG2210MP 10-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch with SFP BH #TPTLSG2, can be configured through a hardware controller or through the Omada App.

Q: 7. TP-Link has different hardware versions for the same model. Can you confirm if this one is V1, V2, or V2.6?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG105PE 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch (BH #TPTLSG105PE • MFR #TL-SG105PE) is currently version 2.6.

Q: 8. It says it comes with a rack mount kit. What are the dimensions of the rack mount kit?

A: TP-Link has not specified the dimensions of the rackmount kit included with the TP-Link JetStream TL-SG3428MP 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP. However, the included rack mount kit was designed to be compatible with standard rack mounting configurations.

Q: 9. Does it support RADIUS?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG2008P JetStream 8-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch, B&H # TPTLSG2008P, supports RADIUS.

Q: 10. Is TP-link 2000 working with TP-link 1000? I have 2 old TP-link 1000 and I int to know if they will work with TP-link 2000.Thx

A: All TP-Link AV Powerline products are compatible with each other.

[Yes] I used four of these to create a distributed network in an office suite for VoIP telephones and data connectivity. Having the SFP slots allowed for a fiber backbone leaving all the copper ports available. Be cautioned, though, that they come with a default IP address that you should change so as not to have any conflicts.

[Yes] Compact but sturdily built. The included documentation from TP-Link was short but satisfactory and should be consulted to make sure you are using the correct ports. This device seems well suited to SOHO uses if you're distributing signal from a router that has limited ethernet ports itself, and you want to power at least some peripheral devices like SIP phones with POE.

[Yes] My existing switch was becoming a bottleneck as we had more devices supporting Gb ethernet and starting to transfer large files. We pulled that out of our rack and dropped this one in and had nice fast transfers in a matter of minutes. Ou building cable plant was Cat5 but it still managed to get Gb speeds between network segments. Sometime we'll start adding some IP phones so I opted for the slightly more expensive PoE model as a future-proofing method, but haven't really tested that out.

[Yes] I have a bunch of POE equipment in a location that is about an hour away and occasionally a glitch occurs which requires a power down reboot. With my former un-managed switches I'd have to make the trek over to do a physical reboot. Now after using the managed switches for about 8 weeks I can do it from pretty much anywhere. Makes life much easier and all for a pretty modest price. I'll definitely pick up a couple more of these.

[Yes] Four POE switch powers my 2 webstream ptz cameras and controller just fine, and the extra non-POE ports are handy for connecting other devices to the network.
