Q: 1. this works for the blackmagic 6k g2 (Ef mount)?? or what model will allow me to use an RF mount lens on this Ef mount body?

A: The Sirui Jupiter EF-RF Adapter for Canon EF Lenses to Canon RF Cameras is not compatible with the Blackmagic 6k g2 (Ef mount). Currently there are no adapters that would allow an RF lens to be used on an EF camera.

Q: 2. Does this dock work with the Sigma 150-500mm APO lens?

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. Our USB docks can only be used with our Sigma Global Vision lenses. It only works with our Art, Sport, Contemporary lenses. However it will not work with the DN lenses.

Q: 3. Does Canon have a similar device for their lenses (EF & EFS)?

A: No, Canon does not have it. Canon do update camera body firmware to debug/improve Canon lens performance. Sigma and other lens manufacturers cannot interact with Canon firmware. All they can do is to adapt lens firmware to Canon camera body manufacturer firmware. To do so, the lens has to be connected to computer/internet to install newer lens firmware. Canon does it by direct camera body USB connection to a computer (details in camera manuals), Sigma does it through the lens USB Dock device. Also USB Dock is used to customize some lens settings at owner shooting preferences and focus micro adjustments. Canon customization and lens focus micro adjustment can be done through camera body menu for each individual lens (details in manual for each camera model).

Q: 4. I own the 30mm Art lens, and it seems to back focus when shooting up close, but front focus when shooting more towards infinity, would this dock allow me to fix that?

A: yes. it allows you to set the focus at different distances.

    Q: 5. Does it come w/ the software (CD) for use w/ Windows 7, 8.1, & 10?

A: My Sigma Dock came with no software. You're instructed to go to Sigma's download site (they give you the URL) to get the Optimization Pro application. Current version is 1.3.0. It supports Windows 7 and higher (and Mac). I noticed that the current version has 'enabled compatibility' for Windows 10.

Q: 6. Shooting a stationary family on 1.8 or so I am getting 1 out of 6 images in focus. Will this help the focus? It is horrible praying after a photo shoot that I got one sharp image out of the pose bundle.

A: The USB dock will allow you to calibrate focus and receive firmware updates for Sigma's Global Vision lines of lenses, so you can optimize your lens' focus with this device, yes.

Q: 7. I have two Sigma Canon EF mount lenses and two Sigma L mount lenses. I also have the MC-21 adapter for EF to L mount. The UBS dock I have is for L mount and it updates the firmware for the MC-21 adapter and the two l mount lenses. If I attach the Sigma Canon EF lenses to the MC-21 adapter, will the L mount USB dock be able to update the firmware on those EF lenses or do I have to have both docks?

A: Unfortunately, you would need the specific dock for the Canon EF mount.

    Q: 8. Sigma art 24-105 1:4 dg, compatible?

A: Certainly! :) All Sigma EF-mount lenses are compatible with this dock.

Q: 9. Does the dock work with the 85mm art? It's not listed with the usable lenses on the sigma site.

A: I can confirm it does- I've used it with mine.

Q: 10. Will a Canon 5dIII body recognise that a Sigma 50 mm f1.4 Art lens is a non Canon Lens BUT still allow me to micro-focus that lens on that body? If so why do I need the Sigma dock?

A: Canon 5DIII can MFA the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art lens. The Sigma dock allows you to MFA at four different distances, so therefore is more accurate as lenses can front or back focus different amounts at different shooting distance. For example, lenses can be spot on shooting at objects close but then back focus shooting at objects that are greater than 6ft. The MFA you can make on a camera body is just one adjustment for all shooting distances. Hope that makes sense. Also, another use for the dock would be to download the latest firmware for the lens. The dock only works with the Global Vision lenses. (i.e. art, contemporary, and sports)

[4-Year ] I found the carepack to be of great value. I have had to us this on a situation where I damaged a lens and the cost of the package was much cheaper than the replacement of the lens.
