Tele Vue Encoder Tele-Pod Alt-Az Telescope Mountdesigned their Tele Vue Encoder Tele-Pod Alt-Az Telescope Mountfor smooth and balanced tracking for optical tube assemblies (OTAs) up to 3" in aperture. It is configured as a dual-fork yoke mount that cradles your OTA at its center of balance for smooth pan/tilt motion with reduced vibrations and smooth-motion altitude and azimuth bearings with tension adjustments. A single control handle enables precise control without the associated vibrations that normally come with moving a mount by hand.

The unique design allows for the OTA to move through an 85 to -10° altitude range from below the horizon (such as viewing from a hilltop) all the way close to the zenith. A scope-stop helps to prevent damage if the objective end "nosedives" down. The Tele-Pod is offered here as a mount head only and comes equipped with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting treads for easy attachment to most photo, video, field, or astronomical tripods. Mounting holes on the azimuth plate are pre-drilled for 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 bolts for attaching OTAs.

Q: 7. How does this work with the Meade LX 600 12”? Would it be too much? I would like to do planetary photography with either a Nikon D750 or a Nikon Z6. Thanks

A: This would work with the LX600,but might be very dark/distorted. You can definitely try it with the Scope. The View just might be a little grainy due to the high magnification.

Q: 8. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?

A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.

Q: 9. How can I use this with Canon RF R6 markII?

A: You can connect rthe Tele Vue 60 2.4"/60mm Refractor Telescope Optical Tube Assembly to the Canon R6 II, by using a T mount adapter connected to the Canon R6 II camera: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1683086-REG/tokina_szx_ta0017_ta0017_szx_t_mount_adapter.html and the the T mount will be connected to the 1.25 adapter : https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202135-REG/Celestron_93625_SLR_35mm_OR_Digital.html This way you will be able to connect the Canon R6 camera with that Tele Vue 60 2.4"/60mm Refractor Telescope.

Q: 10. What type of adaptor should i buy to fit with Canon r6 markII (RF-mount)?

A: The Tele Vue 60 2.4"/60mm Refractor would need a combination of these accessories in order to attach a Canon RF mount camera: https://bhpho.to/3jCjOKt plus https://bhpho.to/3JROjqV

[85 to -10°] I used the Tele Vue 2x Powermate to image the planets, as well as doing some visual observing. As usual, Tele Vue optics never disappoint!

Highly recommend this great addition to your eyepiece line up!

[Manual alt-az] The Televue 2 2X Powermate is a well-built item, as expected for
Televue. Compared to a standard barlow, the Powermate delivers better off-axis correction, making it more suitable for imaging. For visual use, the Powermate pretty much disappears and the observer just enjoys the greater magnification.

[Manual alt-az] I received this a few days ago for viewing planets, particularly Saturn and Jupiter, though my Celestron C8 cassegrain. I have several 2-inch Tele Vue eyepices (up to 16 mm) as well as a 6.5mm and 9.0mm Baader Morpheus eyepieces for greater magnification. The Powermate used with the 20mm Nagler Type 2 and the 16mm Nagler Type 2 provided greater clarity and easier viewing than the Baader eyepieces. Views were sharp to the edge of the field. I was impressed. I'm thinking of replacing the Baaders with another shorter focal length Tele Vue with which to use with the Powermate for even greater clear, sharp magnifications on nights of good seeing. The Powermate is more expensive than a barlow, but the quality of magnification with really good eyepieces is worth the money. I'm not parting with this--ever!

[None] I thought it was not possible to have a Barlow lens and not see a much dimmer image. It is possible and it still stays focused. I'm very pleased and awed.

[85 to -10°] I bought this telescope mount for my husband's birthday. He had previously purchased a high-priced camera tripod head that didn't adequately support his Televue 85. The Tele-Pod exceeded his expectations. It is beautifully made, pans fluidly and completely balances the telescope. Highly recommend!

[85 to -10°] Works great, beautifully made. it's Tele Vue.
Heavy, four elements. Great performance comes at a price in weight.
My Vixen SXD2 GEM is a bit too wobbly for my astro-photo set up.
The Powermate is excellent, but it contributes to my weight problem.

[85 to -10°] I'm using 4x Powermate for astrophotography with an E0N 72mm. The first things that I noticed was the high quality of the optics and the manufacture of the barlow. It is important tho say that I had to use several extension tubes to reach the focus point.
