A: Its called Chromatic Aberration or Chromatic Distortion. Its the failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same point. To a certain point all lenses have this issue. Telescopes, binoculars and even camera lenses. Manufactures try to compensate for this with the uses of special coatings on the elements. Sorry but you will probably see less noticeable chromatic aberration with some higher end binoculars. Also Chromatic Aberration is most noticeable around dark objects or objects in the shade.

So the question is not how far you can see but rather how much better you can see an object than with your eyes alone. For instance, with your eyes, you may see a bird in a tree 100 yds. away.
