Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Which one is brighter? This X or Silver series? I can see this is newer with different looking LEDs.

A: silver has a bit of a higher output and battery flexibility using a v-mount system.

Q: 2. What softbox or diffusion plate is recommended for this unit?

A: There are a few different softboxes that will work. The one I would recommend on the top is Dracast Softbox for LED500, B&H # DRSB500 MFR # SB-500.

Q: 3. Is there a way to mount the light to a truss? I want to mount 4 lights.

A: Yes, the Dracast X-Series 1000 RGB and Bi-Color LED Panel may be mounted to a truss; however, which clamp would work would depend on the thickness of the pipe used on your truss. As a recommendation, I would recommend the Avenger C338 Quick Action Baby Clamp with 5/8" Pin, B&H # AVC338, which works on pipes with a diameter between 0.78 to 2.04'' (20 to 52 mm), or the Impact Pipe Clamp with Baby Pin, B&H # IMCC130, which works on pipes with a diameter between 0.39 to 2.16" (10-55mm).

Q: 4. Is this a 2 pin connector?

A: No, it is a single female connector.

Q: 5. Is it AC also and does it come with a battery?

A: Yes. As indicated under the “In The Box” section under the Overview tab on our website for the Dracast LED500 Silq Bi-Color LED Panel B&H # DRS500B, the following items are listed as included by Dracast with the purchase of the light panel: In the Box Dracast LED500 Silq Bi-Color LED Panel • AC Adapter • Soft Nylon Carrying Case • V-Mount Battery Plate • Limited 1-Year Warranty As indicated, the AC adapter is included with the light panel. While a V-mount battery plate is also included with the unit, the V-mount battery and battery charger would have to be purchased separately for location DC power usage needs. There are V-mount battery options listed under the Accessories tab on our site as recommendations for use with the above light fixture.

Q: 6. What is the brightness of this panel?

A: Photometrics 100°: 102.2 fc / 1100 Lux at 3.28' / 1 m

Q: 7. What is the lux at 1m or similar distance?

A: The following unit at 1m/3ft will offer 381 lux 3200k 380 lux 5600 k 4106 lux 3200k 4087 lux 5600k

Q: 8. Would these lights be appropriate in a studio situation where they would be mounted to a wall or track 10-15 feet from the subject? Thanks.

A: It will depend on the overall space and the camera settings. Your results may vary.

Q: 9. It's interesting but tells me nothing. How big is it folded up? How big is it open? Does it have lightning and USBC connectors?

A: The DJI Zignes 100W Solar Panel for Power 1000 is designed for the DJI Power 1000 Portable Power Station, BH #DJP1000. This solar panel does not feature any Lightning or USB-C connectors and measures 343 x 532 x 50 mm when folded and 1286 × 532 × 25 mm when unfolded.

Q: 10. What is the output of this light?

A: The Kala Plus Series LED3000 RGBWW LED Panel would offer 2668 lux@ 3200K and 2744 lux at 5600K within 3 feet of the subject.

[1.235 lb] Dracast's LED1000 PLUS Daylight is the best LED light I've ever tested because its so color accurate and build solidly. As a cinematographer I have a practical understanding of light and light sources. Its important to know that LEDs aren't a full spectrum light source like sunlight. And they can have difficulty reproducing certain key wavelengths of light, leaving gaps in the visible spectrum. In fact, most LEDs today do a poor job of reproducing red (R9), which is important for good skin tone. This is okay if you're just lighting backgrounds, but not so good if you're lighting people. The common CRI measurement fails to tell the whole picture because it assumes a full spectrum source. CRI averages readings from only 8 samples, that is R1-R8. However, the colors which are most important for skin tones, R9, R13, and R15, are omitted in the calculation. Using a Sekonic C-700 Spectrometer, I was able to meter the light from 5' at 100%. The display temp of 5600K metered at 5787K, which is acceptable. The measured output was 2750 lux and there was zero indication of a green or magenta color shift (CCi). Most notable was the CRI rating (Ra) of 96.2, and R9=94.6, R13=97.3, and R15=94.1. Those are outstanding numbers for an LED panel and the best Ive seen yet. The beam spread appears to be about 45 and is controllable with the barn doors or grid. Its very intense and youll want to shoot this through diffusion or bounce it when lighting people but the package is easy to handle and very portable. The panels are built solidly with a nice blue aluminum frame, sturdy yoke, a useful display for color temp and intensity, xlr power, assignable dmx, and interchangeable battery plate. This panel cant be beat at any price and is perfect if you need a lightweight, battery-powered light source for lighting people and need great skin tones.

[15 VDC] Very good light, ordered 3, 1 came with part of a row of led's that didn't light, corner of the box was crushed/split open. I called B&H and made a quick return and received a replacement 2 day air. When I ordered there was a package deal with barn doors, softbox and 60 degree grid, along with the standard power supply and soft sided carrying case made of durable heavy nylon. I ordered the daylight 5500k light to utilize full power. I independently ordered a set of filters offered by Dracast, which are made to slide into slots on barn door, grid or softbox. Oddly the filters don't actually fit in the slots on the light itself, which are made for a clear plastic protective sheet over the leds and a second slot for the accessory barn doors, etc. A full set of 5 filters was $130 but are well made and should last many years. The light is well made with a metal housing and the digital readout for power setting is nice. Lowest end settings are iffy up to about 10%, after that they are consistent. The lights are very bright but not extremely bright. I'm using them for product videos and they are working well. After a solid days shoot the lights are slightly warm to the touch and no flickering issues. When using the filters I didn't use the clear plastic protective sheet so as to help keep the lights cooler.
