[0.55 lb] During long astrophotography exposures, really good not to worry about battery life. Works fine, exc the cord exit from the battery compartment is a little too tight. Worried about damaging something when closing.

[0.55 lb] I needed a dummy battery to power my Olympus mirrorless camera while using it for streaming. This option from Bescor does the job and I have had zero issues with it thus far.

[0.55 lb] The power source works perfectly in our Olympus OM-D E-M10 II & III cameras. For the E-M10 II camera you have to leave the battery hatch open, to accommodate the cord, but it still works fine.

[0.55 lb] One of the Q&A’s says the Bescor BLS50AC dummy battery adapter kit is not compatible with the Olympus E-PL9.  I asked Bescor ( answers@bescor.com ) why the kit is compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M5/M10, but not the Olympus Pen E PL9, since all three use the same Olympus BLS-50 battery.   The response was: “It will work. Your camera just needs to be added to our list.”

The Bescor is 8V 3A. The Olympus battery is 7.2V 1175 mAh (1.175A).  I did some online research to see if a device built for 7.2V could operate at 8V.  One person describing himself as an engineer posted that 7.4V
Lithium batteries actually span a 6V to 8.4v voltage range depending on state of charge of the battery.  Another “senior electrical engineer” said that because all devices are designed with some voltage tolerance value, a 7.4 volt device means 7.4 volt +/- 1 to 1.5 volts.  Still other posts indicated that you can use a
3A power adapter on a 1.5A device.  By logical extension, I figured (I don’t actually know) that since the PL9 uses a 7.2 volt battery, it is probably designed to also work at 8 volts, and is also okay running at 3A.

Based on the response from Bescor and the Internet voltage and amperage responses, I decided to purchase
the Bescor and use it with my PL9.  I haven’t seen any sign of overheating or other problems with this setup so far, but will update this review if that changes.

I did not deduct points for the need to leave the battery compartment open because I knew that would be the case when I bought it.

[0.55 lb] I am just ecstatic with this product!! 6 months ago, when my job switched me to full time telecommuting, it was clear that I was going o have VERY important meetings vie zoom, Skype and teams. I could NOT use my cell phone or the whack webcam built into my iMac. I needed to figure out how to use my Olympus EM10 MIII mirrorless camera as a webcam so that I could stream with clear video for longer than an hour.  

My camera does NOT have a ac jack for power and the batteries last for 1 hour, tops. Even after I jumped through a million hoops and figured out how to use a capture card to connect my camera to my CPU as a webcam, in every meeting, my camera would die and I would replace it mid-meeting. I kept 3 fully charged batteries on standby at all times. That SUCKED!

With this, I no longer worry about my battery running out. It works perfectly!! I mean, PERFECTLY!! If you are using your Olympus camera as a webcam and you need a steady power supply, this works. I'm so glad it was released right before my first zoom deposition.
