Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this card work inside Dell 7875 precision workstation? It does have one Gen 5 x16 PCIe lane.

A: Yes, the HighPoint Rocket 7608A PCIe 5.0 x16 to 8-M.2x4 NVMe RAID AIC will be compatible with Windows workstations/servers that have an available PCIe 5.0 x16 lane and at least 82.64 W of power available for the card.

Q: 2. Would 8 of these work in a RAID?

A: Yes, this Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2 Internal SSD could be used in a RAID array.

Q: 3. SLC MLC TLC QLC ? (Why is this info never up front?)

A: The Crucial P3 uses 176-Layer Micron QLC flash memory.

Q: 4. Will this work in a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot, physical x16 slot? With all 4 NVMEs?

A: The HighPoint SSD7105 NVMe RAID Controller requires a full PCIe x 16 slot.

Q: 5. would this work with bmpcc 6k pro ?

A: The Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2 Internal SSD is not on the approved media list for this camera. A list of recommended drives can be found here: https://bit.ly/3VdOkJq

Q: 6. Is there a RAID 5 version?

A: At this time, there is no version of the HighPoint SSD7505 PCIe 4.0 x16 4-Channel M.2 NVMe RAID Controller that can support RAID 5.

Q: 7. If installed on an older machine without NVMe in its BIOS, will this enable that machine to boot on NVMe cards in this controller?

A: If you want NVMe controller that supports booting, please look into the SSD 7110 instead (a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1413210-REG/highpoint_ssd7110_ssd_7110_3x_m_2.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1413210-REG/highpoint_ssd7110_ssd_7110_3x_m_2.html/a). For the SSD 7110, you should be able to boot with the NVMe drives on an older machine. However, we would recommend you to look into our compatibility list.

Q: 8. It will work on mac pro 5.1 pcie16x(2.0)? I believe individual drives (nvme 4.0) will work full, but raid will be negligible because of pcie 2.0. Am i right?

A: Nvme drives will typically be bottlenecked by PCIe 2.0 with or without RAID, and as such only SATA M.2 drives (via a PCIe card similar to this one) would be recommended for use with PCIe 2.0.

Q: 9. Could you run 8x drives in JBOD and still obtain read/write speeds usable for 4k editing?

A: For the fastest configuration on the HighPoint SSD7540 PCIe 4.0 x16 8-Channel M.2 NVMe RAID Controller, RAID0 will be the best way to go to utilize the speed of all drives together.

Q: 10. Is this device supported in Linux kernel 4.15.3?

A: The HighPoint Ultra-High Performance, Flexible NVMe U.2 RAID Controller B&H # HISSD7120 will work on Linux Kernel 3.3 or later.

[Yes, RAID 0/1] SSD7101A-1 is a great card. I installed 4x Samsung 970 EVO+ to be used for rendering and I get 13,000 MB/s.

A motherboard with 16x lanes is best for performance. It does come with a RAID software.

[1.325 lb] working perfectly

[1.325 lb] I use it in my 2019 Mac Pro with 4x2TB m.2 SSDs from Samsung. The passive cooling works great, I see consistent write/read speed rates in continuous heavy use and the drive is silent.

[1.325 lb] Moving from my on board RAID controller to a dedicated card was a game changer.

Using my motherboard in RAID 0 had no problem with Sequential reads/writes, but the random reads were painfully slow.

I moved to a PCI riser card (Gigabytes Aorus) so I could have more drives and a possible bonus of the bifurcated PCI lanes would be a bit quicker. Same performance.

I finally bit the bullet and picked up this card. It has been FLAWLESS.

The random read performance is within spitting distance of a single drive. Absolutely thrilled with this setup.

970 Evo Plus 1TB drives

Now I just need to get PCI4 capable stuff together so I can really put it through its paces

[Yes, RAID 0/1] Nice low profile to fit a server and it is thin.

[1.325 lb] Easy, instant upgrade for the QNAP TS-264. I noticed an immediate improvement in access times and in sync time for the Qsync app.

[Yes, RAID 0/1] It's a good little SSD, just an extra terabyte of storage for gaming on my laptop.
Good speed, and I don't really have to worry about the thermal-issues that can arise from putting a 4.0/5.0 NVME in an enclosed laptop chassis.
(The differences between 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 SSDs are negligible when it comes to everything besides transfer of large files)
