This 1- to 8.6-stop, 46mm K&F Concept Blue Multi-Coated ND Filter 46mm 1-8.6 Stopfrom K&F Concept Blue Multi-Coated ND Filter 46mm 1-8.6 Stopis a variable neutral density filter providing an adjustable light reduction of 1 to 8.6 stops. It darkens the entire image evenly, allowing a photograph to be made with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing the exposure time or increasing the aperture, it is possible to control the depth of field and blur movement easily, creating a dynamic look for streams, waterfalls, landscapes, and more. This multi-coated variable neutral density filter does not affect the coloration of the image. The filter's slim design reduces possible vignetting on wide-angle lenses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Doesn't the blue coating affect the hue of the picture? Is there a blue tint?

A: The blue coating on this filter has no negative effects in terms of the hue in your images.

Q: 2. Would this fit a 12mm samyang lens?

A: The K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (67mm) BH #KFVFND240067 fits lenses with a front thread of 67mm. I am not seeing we currently sell a 12mm Samyang with that thread size. You will want to double check your lens to see what the front thread size is. You did not list the full name for us to check.

Q: 3. Does anyone know the difference between all the series of ND filters from K&F concepts (ie, nano, B-series, C-series, etc)??

A: The K&F Concept Nano X-Pro Variable filters features double-sided multi-coating and advanced Nano-coating that effectively minimizes reflections and improved image clarity. These are considered the top of their line. The K&F Concept B-Series filters features 8 layers of coating with good optical quality that is suitable for most photography needs. The K&F Concept C-Series are the base level filters with double-sided multilayer blue coating.

Q: 4. I think I have seen some VND's have a total size larger than its threading part, which ends up blocking the ability to mount a lens hood. Does the size of this filter prevent the mounting of a lens hood?

A: You will be able to mount the lens hood with the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter on the lens.

Q: 5. Is it best to put this VND on before or after a mist filter?

A: It generally does not matter if you put the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (82mm) on before or after a mist filter, it can come down to preference.

Q: 6. Are these filters glass or resin?

A: The K&F Concept ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter (72mm) is a glass filter.

Q: 7. Will my lens cap fit on this filter? The lens is a Lumix 12-35 micro 4/3.

A: The front thread for this K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (58mm) would actually be 62mm, so your current cap will not fit.

Q: 8. What is the frequency response of the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (40.5mm)?

A: Unfortunately, the specs of the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (40.5mm) do not list frequency response. The specs we do have is that if you turn the filter you can change the density of the filter from 1 to 8.6 stops.

Q: 9. Are they hard stops?

A: Yes the stops are hard on the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter. You can feel the filter pause as you rotate it past each mark so you know how many stops you are blocking.

Q: 10. Could I use a 62mm cap?

A: Yes. The K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (58mm) had 62mm front threads which can be used with a standard 62mm snap on lens cap such as this: https://bhpho.to/3DjuEgF
