The Synco Mic-D2 Hypercardioid Shotgun Mic for Clear Audioshotgun microphone features a hypercardioid polar pattern to deliver sharpened frontal focus and side rejection compared to supercardioid shotguns, allowing it to capture clear, quality dialogue and sound effects for independent filmmakers, videographers, and broadcasters.

The lightweight body is constructed from CNC-machined brass for improved resistance to interference and durability. The black speckle finish reduces reflectivity to ensure visual discretion during video shoots.

With strong sensitivity and high maximum SPL handling, the Mic-D2 provides robust distortion-free signal. Its circuit utilizes a built-in bass boost to enhance low-frequency detail. The microphone's XLR output and included XLR cable enable standardized hookup to mic preamps, mixers, and a variety of portable audio recorders. It is operated via 48V phantom power, so no batteries are required.

Whereas traditional shotgun mics use supercardioid polar patterns, the Mic-D2 utilizes a hypercardioid pickup pattern to provide even tighter frontal focus, more attenuation at the sides, and slightly increased rear pickup, making it an ideal choice for recording in indoor or outdoor environments.

The Mic-D2's circuit employs a built-in bass boost to enhance the detail of low-frequency sources, lending its tone to complement sound effects as well as dialogue.

With its balanced 3-pin XLR output and 48V phantom powering, the Mic-D2 can be used with an array of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders. The XLR connector's gold-plated contacts improve conductivity to maintain the integrity of your signal.

Lightweight and nearly 10" long, the Mic-D2 is well suited for use on a boompole or mic stand. It includes a mic holder with 5/8" and 3/8" options for mounting versatility.

The Mic-D2 includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this mic capable with the Sony a7 IV ?

A: The Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone requires a 48V-enabled XLR connection, which is not found directly on the Sony A7IV Camera. To connect the Deity S-Mic 2S to a camera such as the Sony A7IV you would need to implement a camera mixer such as BH #SASRPAX1 Saramonic SR-PAX1 Two-Channel Audio Mixer, which would provide the preamp needed by the Deity S-Mic 2S and calibrate the audio signal to the level expected by the Sony A7IV audio input.

Q: 2. On off switch?

A: The Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone does not feature an on-board "On/Off" switch. The switch found on the Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone is a "High Pass Filter" switch which filters out low end frequencies below 180Hz.

Q: 3. Only works with Phantom Power?

A: Yes, the Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Shotgun Microphone operates using phantom power only.

Q: 4. Where can I get a deadcat that fits this microphone?

A: You can use the Auray Professional Windshield (B&H # AUWSS2018) for direct compatibility with the Synco D1 shotgun mic.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with Nikon Z6 ?

A: Yes, fully compatible.

Q: 6. Would the Rycote 18cm not be too large for this mic? Just wondering whether the 12cm Rycote wouldn't be a better fit for a mic that has a length of 148mm?

A: Yes. The 12cm would be a better fit.

Q: 7. This microphone is only 5.8 inches long. Both of the previous suggestions seem kind of long. Wouldn't a 2.7 inch Rycote, or the 4 inch, small Bumblebee Windkiller be a better fit?

A: Yes, those would work as well.

Q: 8. Will this fit a Sennheiser 416 shotgun mike?

A: Yes, the Rycote 104428 Shotgun Mic Foam for ME66 and K6 Microphone is compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKH 416 Shotgun Microphone. If you want the same windscreen that is included with the MKH 416, it is the Sennheiser MZW-415 Foam Windscreen (B&H # SEMZW415).

Q: 9. I don't need stereo for DSLR XLR adaptor cable. Will this still work for basic audio from a Sennhesier mic?Sescom SES-DSLR-ST-MIC XLR Stereo Mic to DSLR Audio Input Adapter Cable (10')

A: The Sescom SES-DSLR-ST_MIC is actually an output cable designed to output audio to PA systems from small cameras and recorders with a 1/8 output. In order to connect a standard dynamic or battery powered mic to a DSLR, you can use a standard XLR cable to run the length, and an adapter such as the Kopul LMT-100 to input into the DSLR. a href= http://bhpho.to/1yMIinD target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1yMIinD/a

Q: 10. Can anyone recommend a shockmount and windscreen for this microphone?

A: An excellent kit that provides a shock mount and outdoor windscreen would be the Rycote 18cm Standard Hole Classic-Softie with Lyre Mount & Pistol-Grip Kit, BH #RYSPGK18M. Another good option would be the Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shockmount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles, BH #AUDUSM1, combined with the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Short Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics (Extra-Large, Black), BH #BUBBIWKSXL. Both of these choices would work well with the Diety S-Mi C2S.

[Hypercardioid] My ears can't tell the difference between the Synco D2 and the Sennheiser MKH 416! This mic is an incredible value!! Plus, you get a nice carry case, pop filter, and short XLR cable for boom use. What's not to like?

[End Address] Solid metal construction. Even compared to the Sennheiser, the noise floor and sensitivity were better than I expected, so I purchased a second one for church.
The foam windscreen is garbage, but with studio work this is not needed (and I have a couple 'blimps' in my wishlist for outdoor work).

[End Address] I record concerts. Classical and jazz, mostly. I also live stream a church service from 40 feet away, in a choir loft (recording from above the audience reduces noise at live events;). The quality is great for our purposes. Most of the audience is far enough back to mostly get mono, anyway, and the events are small stages, so stereo isn't really how it sounds. Think about the staging for a piano trio or jazz combo, where the performers stay close so they can coordinate on the music. From 40 feet, this microphone is directional enough to cover the performers, capture the sound over the entire range with pretty flat response.
I get compliments on the sound from the performers. Those are my customers; when they like the sound, I'm golden.

[2.4 lb] The mic was packaged incredibly well. It adds the clarity and presence I was looking for in a mic. Many others I have tried, only added to the muddiness. This allowed me to record and send. Work smarter not harder.

[Phantom Power] As far as I'm concerned this mic IS the best bang for the buck on the market. Period. Full stop. Leaps and bounds better than other mics in its price range. You can buy 4 of these for the price of an MKH416. Buying a second now. Wish I could still get it for $169 like I did the first one.
