[f/2.8] I bought this to get back into macro photography. My previous Macro Lens was a Nikon 105mm G on a D300. Yeah, it's been awhile. This new Laowa lens exceeded my expectations. It is superbly sharp from corner to corner at most apertures. It is very well built. And I really prefer macro lenses to be MF only, which this lens is. This is by far my favorite macro lens for the Fuji X System. The only minor criticisms that I could make is that I wish it had weather sealing - that's it! 5

I was worried that it's totally manual focus (focus has never been my strong suit); it works beautifully with focus peaking and correct settings. Its form factor is small and lightweight enough that I'll actually use it; yet it's still solidly made.The focal length is perfect for many applications, not just macro. [52 mm (Front)] I bought this lens close to its release for APS-C. The full frame version had a very positive reputation so I felt secure in my purchase. Being new to macro I knew I would need to grow into it. The lens provides amazingly crisp photos at any magnification. The focus ring and aperture rings both move smoothly with light friction. The aperture stops are easily detected. The fact that the lens is enclosed and easy to clean is a nice bonus. 5

[f/2.8] Others have said it, I'll agree: This lens lives up to the hype. Superb build quality, amazingly compact and lightweight (for a 2x macro), fantastic optical performance. This is a real top class macro lens. This little guy is true APO and exhibits no detectable lateral CA or bokeh CA @ 26mp. Colors are bright and poppy, contrast and sharpness are superb, even wide-open, though the DOF is so narrow at 2x and f2.8, you'll be using it that way very infrequently. If this were a general purpose lens you might fairly complain about the lack of auto focus or electronic control at this price point, but even out of it's macro sweet-spot it performs well enough that you might forgive it... Inside its optomized performance envelope - close focus - it's just a stunner. A terrific, beautifully made lens for APS-size sensors that does its intended job exceptionally well. 5

[9] Take your time, a manual focus lens. It produces better than satisfactory results that are pleasing to me for my summer time flora. It is a economical and a very high quality alternative to the Fuji offering. 5
