Telephoto prime is designed for APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 97.5mm equivalent focal length.

Featuring an apochromatic designation, this lens uses three low dispersion elements to effectively eliminate chromatic aberrations and color fringing for greater clarity and accurate rendering.

Greater-than-life-size 2:1 maximum magnification pairs with a 6.7" minimum focusing distance to suit working with close-up subjects.

Manual focus design, along with focus distance and depth of field scales, aids in precise focusing control.

Internal focusing maintains the overall length of the lens during use for easier use, especially when working with nearby subjects.

A nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is the lens at maximum extension?

A: Being that the Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens has internal focusing, the length of the barrel would not change.

Q: 2. What magnification ratio is the lens optimized for? I could not find that information on the Laowa site.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens can focus as close as 6.7 inches with a 2:1 macro ratio and all the way up to infinity. The optimal focus will depend on the subject.

Q: 3. Would the focus stacking ability of a Fujifilm X-T3 still work or is that a victim of no electronic connections?

A: Unfortunately to do the auto focus stacking ability in the X-T3, you do need electronic communication. However, if you plan to do your stack in post, then you could use this lens no problem.

Q: 4. This lens does not appear to work with the Canon M50, set to manual mode. The 7Artisans 60mm also does not work with M50. Is there a setting for M50 to make this lens work?

A: If you go to page 5 in the camera's settings menu, click on Custom Functions, then go the item called "Release shutter w/o lens", and select "Enable". Then, mount the lens to the camera.

Q: 5. This is for fuji X mount so compatible with XS10? No OIS I assume?

A: This lens has no built-in stabilization.

Q: 6. Can I use Godox Ring48 Flash with Laowa 65mm lens ?

Q: 7. I se in the Q/A that there are no electrical contacts. That would suggest no metering as well - correct?

A: That is correct.

Q: 8. I know there is no EXIF data passed to the camera but, can you see the lens aperture in the view finder?

A: I'm sorry, no, since there are no electronic contacts, you won't be able to see the aperture in the viewfinder.

A: Yes, the Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO Lens for FUJIFILM X is compatible on the Fujifilm X-M1 camera.

[Manual Focus] I purchased this lens to replace my Fuji XF 60mm f2.4 macro, which is limited to 1:2 magnification, lacks a distance scale and relies on focus-by-wire, making it too hard to pre-focus for a specific magnification. This lens ticked all those boxes at a very attractive price and is a real joy to use for macro photography. Testing at moderate distances (6 feet) sharpness is very good wide open, even in the corners, and is stellar at f4 and higher, matching the great performance of the Fuji 60mm. Centering is also very good in my copy. Sharpness at macro magnifications is also great right through 2:1 magnification.

Focusing is very smooth, and the distance, DOF and magnification scales are very well implemented. The supplied metal lens hood is compact and useful, but needs to be removed for focusing at 1:1 or higher to allow enough working distance for lighting, since subjects are only a few inches from the front element. Focus is easy to achieve using focus peaking and focus zoom on Fuji bodies, but at extreme magnification it's often easier to focus by moving the camera back and forth than focusing, so a good macro rail is a useful accessory. The only minor negative I've found so far is that the aperture ring only has detents at full stops, instead of 1/3 stops like native Fuji lenses. But that's not a major concern for this type of lens.

Another benefit of this lens over native Fuji 60mm and 80mm macro lenses is it works beautifully for infrared photography, with no noticeable hot spots through f11. Neither Fuji macro is usable with IR, so this opens up some very interesting opportunities for IR flower and insect photography.

[Sony E] Take your time, a manual focus lens. It produces better than satisfactory results that are pleasing to me for my summer time flora. It is a economical and a very high quality alternative to the Fuji offering.

[2:1] All I can say is this lens lives up to all the hype it gets in reviews and on YouTube. Crystal clear, sharp images - and as a super macro it more than exceeds expectations. I have a whole new world open for me now.

Great general purpose prime lens too.

[APS-C] I am extremely pleased with this lens! It goes well beyond my expectations for a lens designed specifically for aps crop sensor cameras, Sony a6100 in my case, not to mention the affordability of such a quality lens. I highly recommend this lens for folks using crop sensor cameras. 5 stars

[f/22] I've been wanting a macro lens for a long time, but wasn't sure how much I'd actually use it.When I saw this one that is relatively affordable and with so many good reviews, I decided to make the purchase. I was worried that it's totally manual focus (focus has never been my strong suit); it works beautifully with focus peaking and correct settings. Its form factor is small and lightweight enough that I'll actually use it; yet it's still solidly made. The focal length is perfect for many applications, not just macro. I'm so happy I decided to purchase this lens.

[Sony E] Yea, I know what you are thinking. How can a lens costing under $400 yeild any quality. This lens is a gem in every respect, check out reviews like I did and they are right on the money. Ok, I am a fugi guy so like you guys, I am only going to buy lenses made for my camera right/ no. Take the plunge like I did, great optics, very well made and packaged very well. I am so happy I took the chance with this product and now getting superb results, let the inclosed photo tell the story

[Manual Focus] Others have said it, I'll agree: This lens lives up to the hype. Superb build quality, amazingly compact and lightweight (for a 2x macro), fantastic optical performance. This is a real top class macro lens. This little guy is true APO and exhibits no detectable lateral CA or bokeh CA @ 26mp. Colors are bright and poppy, contrast and sharpness are superb, even wide-open, though the DOF is so narrow at 2x and f2.8, you'll be using it that way very infrequently. If this were a general purpose lens you might fairly complain about the lack of auto focus or electronic control at this price point, but even out of it's macro sweet-spot it performs well enough that you might forgive it... Inside its optomized performance envelope - close focus - it's just a stunner. A terrific, beautifully made lens for APS-size sensors that does its intended job exceptionally well.
