Once a Sigma Art, Contemporary, or Sports line lens is connected, you can use the Sigma Optimization Pro software to configure focus settings and update lens firmware.

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style.

If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are available: three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus; the ability to constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits; and three Optical Stabilizer modes to suit the manner in which you are shooting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where do I get the Mac OS software for use with the Sigma Dock? No software is listed in the box from the item description.

A: a href= http://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/product/accessories/usb-dock/ target= _blank http://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/product/accessories/usb-dock//a

Q: 2. Is this the USB dock for 150-600 contempary ?? I have a canon t6i Love this lens just want to do the firmware update

A: Yep, that's the one!

Q: 3. Does it come w/ the software (CD) for use w/ Windows 7, 8.1, & 10?

A: My Sigma Dock came with no software. You're instructed to go to Sigma's download site (they give you the URL) to get the Optimization Pro application. Current version is 1.3.0. It supports Windows 7 and higher (and Mac). I noticed that the current version has 'enabled compatibility' for Windows 10.

Q: 4. Will using this affect Live View focusing as well, or will it only affect through the view finder phase detection auto focus?

A: Changing values via the USB dock for the SIgma 18-35mm f/1.8 with Canon mount do not appear to have any effect when auto focusing using Liveview on my Canon 60D.. I experimented by modifying all 16 values the dock provides to their extremes. As a result, auto focus through the viewifinder was consistently well out of focus at various distances and focal lengths.. However, even with the dock modifications, auto focus when using Live view still resulted in sharp focused images..

Q: 5. Does this dock work with the Sigma 150-500mm APO lens?

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. Our USB docks can only be used with our Sigma Global Vision lenses. It only works with our Art, Sport, Contemporary lenses. However it will not work with the DN lenses.

Q: 6. does this work with a macintosh?

A: Yes , that's all I own is apple products

Q: 7. Does Canon have a similar device for their lenses (EF & EFS)?

A: No, Canon does not have it. Canon do update camera body firmware to debug/improve Canon lens performance. Sigma and other lens manufacturers cannot interact with Canon firmware. All they can do is to adapt lens firmware to Canon camera body manufacturer firmware. To do so, the lens has to be connected to computer/internet to install newer lens firmware. Canon does it by direct camera body USB connection to a computer (details in camera manuals), Sigma does it through the lens USB Dock device. Also USB Dock is used to customize some lens settings at owner shooting preferences and focus micro adjustments. Canon customization and lens focus micro adjustment can be done through camera body menu for each individual lens (details in manual for each camera model).

Q: 8. I have two Sigma Canon EF mount lenses and two Sigma L mount lenses. I also have the MC-21 adapter for EF to L mount. The UBS dock I have is for L mount and it updates the firmware for the MC-21 adapter and the two l mount lenses. If I attach the Sigma Canon EF lenses to the MC-21 adapter, will the L mount USB dock be able to update the firmware on those EF lenses or do I have to have both docks?

A: Unfortunately, you would need the specific dock for the Canon EF mount.

Q: 9. Does this work with an IPad Pro? Also, IPad Pros only have the USB-C port? What adapters do I need to buy?

A: No, the Sigma USB Dock for Canon EF-Mount Lenses will not work with the iPad Pro or anything else running iOS. This only works with Windows or MacOS devices.

Q: 10. Hi !Beside this Sigma USB Dock, do I need to buy the Sigma Optimization Pro software? Thanks.

A: The software is a free download from the Sigma site.

[0.41 lb] This concept of a USB dock to connect to a Sigma lens for internal & firmware adjustment is not only brilliant but at the same time, a surprising task to do. Let's talk about the ability to adjust back & front focus. You would have thought that prior to leaving the factory in Japan they would have adjusted the lens focus to be spot on. Well, it's close but this docking puck allows for the focus to be more than just close. Hooking the cable to your computer is the first step after downloading the dock software from Sigma. It is surprising that the plug connection to the lens is not a standard plug so be sure & not lose this cable. I'm adjusting the 150x600MM Sports lens. With this lens you have a spreadsheet of 16 fields to fill in. 4 focal lengths & each has 4 distance points. I would have thought that Sigma would have also provided a target for the focus points to be printed out. Some camera bodies have the ability to internally use micro focus for front to back focusing but this is only for one focal length, ok for a prime lens. Then you have the ability to adjust stabilization & focal length search areas. This lens already has a focal length search area button. Due to the weight of this lens, I would hope that most users would be on a tripod & stabilization would not be that big of an item to adjust. Yet, for the focus improvements I plan on using the Canon utilities software for better focusing & then adjusting the + & - focus points using the dock for different focal lengths. All in all a nifty tool.

[0.41 lb] if you're a pro, a pro\am, or serious hobbyist and have bought into Sigma's new line of lenses, the dock is a must have. The ability to customize your lens, or calibrate your lens, sitting next to your PC using the dock, is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm glad I bought one with my Sigma 150-600mm C lens. It'll make your day. Tim Lawton
