Outfitted with a magnification and objective lens combination that is optimized for low-light use, the Minox 8x56 X-HD Binoculars | High-Performance Opticsis designed with extra low-dispersion HD glass to provide you with clear high-contrast views free from distortion.

Minox utilizes large 56mm objectives that draw in copious amounts of light that push its ability to perform in low and challenging lighting, such as in the pre-dawn and late dusk hours when many animals and birds are most active. Proprietary M* anti-reflection multi-coatings on the ED glass lenses and silver coated Abbe-Koenig roof prisms transmit bright and clear high-contrast images with true neutral color rendition and crisp clarity while correcting chromatic and spherical aberrations. The X-HD's performance enhancements are critical components for scanning wide open terrain, identifying your target, and maintaining sight of it without it seeing or smelling you.

Utilizing an open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration helps to cut weight without sacrificing stability while providing plenty of room to wrap your hands completely around the optical tubes for a better grip, even if you need to use them one-handed. The chassis is made of a lightweight and durable polycarbonate wrapped in a protective armor that provides a slip-resistant grip—especially in cold and wet weather. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be resistant to internal fogging and also waterproof—so the X-HD will fair better than you if it tumbles into a stream or pond. And if you do end up in a stream, tethered objective lens caps and one-piece ocular rainguard prevent their loss while allowing for fast reaction when opportunities present themselves.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It looks pretty heavy, does it require the rods and box setup? For the dvx200? Is there a way to bring the camera into the store to try it out

A: No, the Century Precision Optics 0.75x HD Wide Angle weighs comes in at less then 2lbs making a rail system not needed.

Q: 2. Does it fit the Sony PXW-Z280 bayonet mount?

A: Unfortunately, the Century Precision Optics 0.75x HD Wide Angle Converter has a 72mm filter thread and the PXW-Z280 has a 77mm filter size.

Q: 3. What are the main differences between X-Active 8x25 and the older Minox BV 8x25 (62059) they replace? I compared the specs and can see the X-Active are a few ounces lighter but not much else. Are there any differences in terms of optics?

A: Its a newer coating and a newer procedure on putting the coatings on. Better image color results and improvement in light transmission

Q: 4. Does the box include any kind of neck strap? If not, do you have such straps for sale?

A: Yes. The KITE OPTICS 12x30 APC Stabilized Binoculars come with a neoprene neck strap.

Q: 5. How do I remove the quick release plate?

A: There is a lever on the tripod head that allows you to take the quick release plate off and on. If you have purchased this tripod and are having issues with the quick release plate please email us directly at provideo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a so we can assist you.

Q: 6. What are the main differences between X-Active 8x25 and the older Minox BV 8x25 (62059) they replaced? I compared the specs and can see the X-Active are a few ounces lighter but not much else. Are there any differences in terms of optics?

A: Newer coatings and a newer procedure to put the coating on the elements. Increases light transmission and colors

Q: 7. Are the roof prisms in the Minox 8-44 X-HD phase-coated?

A: Dielectric-Coated Roof Prisms. This type of coatings are found on roof prisms of binocular and are there to increase light reflectivity - As the light is incident at a glass–air boundary with an angle less than the critical angle, total internal reflection does not occur at that surface. To solve this problem, a mirror coating is used on those surfaces. To quantify typically an aluminium mirror coating is used that has a reflectivity of 87% to 93%) or a silver mirror coating (reflectivity of 95% to 98%) is used. The light transmission of the prism can be improved by using a dielectric coating rather than a metallic mirror coating. This causes the prism surfaces to act as a dielectric mirror. The dielectric multilayer coating increases reflectivity from the prism surfaces by acting as a distributed Bragg reflector. A well-designed dielectric coating can provide a reflectivity of more than 99% across the visible light spectrum.

Q: 8. Minox appear to not publish exit pupil distance eye relief. This measurement is critical to know for eye glasses wearers. What is it for these binoculars?

A: A ccording to the Minox manual for the Minox 8x56 X-HD Binoculars BH #MI8X56XHDB • MFR #10023 the rye relief is 20mm. https://cache.tradeinn.com/images/pdf/manuales/eng_minox_manu_xhd_series.pdf

Q: 9. What is the diameter of the ball head?

A: The Bescor TH-770 has a 65mm ball.

Q: 10. To what extent are these binoculars waterproof?

A: The manufacture only indicates that it is Fully O-ring sealed and nitrogen filled for waterproof and fog proof performance. No mention of any submerged test.

[7 mm] I bought one of the 8x42 models and just recently the 8x56....they are wonderful instruments for the price and the Zeiss guarantee is exceptional, too. I have some more expensive Leica and Swarovski binoculars around and they are excellent, but unless you want to spend $2k more, buy a Conquest HD model, you won't be sorry.

[8x] This is the first review I've ever done for a pair of Binoculars and I've owned plenty. About 20 years ago I purchased a pair of Nikons, upgraded to some HGs a few years later, Zeiss Conquest and finally to a pair of Swarovski SLCs. For low light conditions these work the best. All the others are 8x42 and these are 56 and from what I've read and seen first hand this was GPOs objective with the Passion ED 8x56. I did a ton of research before buying and could talk about the exit pupil and GPOs lens coating but you can all do that yourself at home. What I can tell you is that holding all the pre mentioned binoculars to my face in low light conditions these are the clear winner. My mission was to seek out the best low light binoculars that also match up well in the other main categories. These are it! They really impressed me in every way. Through my research I heard the president of GPO say their objective was to build a binocular to compete with high end European brands at a better price point through a scaled down corporate model and they did it!. $799 for GPO Passion EDs 8x56 that beat Nikon HG, Zeiss Conquest and Swarovski SLCs head to in low light conditions and it's not a contest. The build quality and operation is as good as the others and as far as what you see through the lenses I can't distinguish a much of a difference that would be relevant in any real world application. My only complaint is they are kind of big and heavy. They don't fit in the custom harness I Cary all my other 8x42 binoculars in. With all that being said these with out a doubt the best value of all my binoculars and will be my #1 choice when I go bow hunting here in PA in a couple of months.

[56 mm] I bought one of the last pairs of the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x56 from weeks of research. These are being replaced with the new incoming HDX series. The price on these, right below $1500, was my max budget. I wanted a pair of low light binos for hunting late into the evening or early morning. These have exceeded my expectations. From testing, I was a able to view a whipporwill bird late after sunset one evening on a tree branch about 50 yards away. To my surprise, I was able to clearly see the very fine details in the birds feathers, even noting it's eyes blinking with such clarity and perfectly balanced color/contrasting. The other test was a late evening sit across a 1/2 acre food plot surrounded by trees. Even at 45 minutes past sunset on a quarter moon clear evening, I was able to see the fine details in the tree bark 150 yards from my stand to back of food plot. I was able to sit a full 55 minutes after sunset with the assumption to recognize and identify deer to shoot (our law is legal harvest 1 hour past sunset or 1 hour before sunrise). These Zeiss Conquest 8x56 easily allow me another 10-15 minutes of dimming light ( late evening or early morning hunting), which can make a difference in hunting highly pressured bucks, in comparing to my $500 8x42 binos of another well known brand. I heavily researched other brands that were less expensive and more expensive but these seem to fit my needs as a great balance with performance and cost. These Zeiss Conquest HD 8x56 will now be a part of my permanent gear carried into the field for gun hunting.

[8x] I have been a long time customer of Vortex optics. I was looking for a good pair of low light binoculars so I started looking for 56mm objective lens pairs. Vortex used to make the Vulture's in 8x56 but since discontinued them. I started shopping for other brands and came across this pair. The price was in my budget, and the fact that it was a German based company I thought would be a positive to so I took a chance on them. Let me tell you, these binoculars are nothing short of awesome. Everything is top notch, from the packaging they come in to the carrying case, neck strap and optics themselves. I can be very picky when it comes to purchases (especially at this price point) and I can't find one thing to complain about. I get on the deer stand with these 2 hours before day break with just moon light and I can see my feeder and movement in fields clearly. They are 56mm objective lens so naturally they are a little bulkier and heavier than say a 42mm binocular but well worth the extra size and weight for me. I love them, I gave my old Vortex to my kids because after using these I don't want to use anything else. I highly recommend them. I attached an un-boxing video in case it might help.

[Roof] This pair of binoculars is phenomenal. I purchased them to maximize my low light viewing for hunting, fishing, and bird watching and they have exceeded my expectations. My deer hunting does not involve super long distances so the 8X magnification is perfect. The binoculars are also amazing in bright light. You will not be disappointed for whatever use you can imagine for them.
