A: If you currently have a 49mm filter mounted on your X100s camera, then you have purchased the required filter adapter ring to mount filters onto the cameras lens. This Vello LH-X100 lens hood for the X100s also comes with the same filter adapter (the hood is two parts). You could use the hood portion of the Vello hood (minus its included adapter) to connect with your current filter holder on the camera.

Q: 4. This lens hood is not compatible with the x100s. I've unscrewed the adaptor ring and it still won't screw on. What's the deal?

A: There is a thin ring on the front of the lens that needs to be removed first. It's a bit difficult but it will come free with a little effort. The ring like the lens hood has a bayonet mount; it's not threaded.

Hi, I have bought one of these Vello LH-49 hoods, it does not slide for storage / use smoothly at all... in fact I have to be pretty violent with the hood to get it moving on my lens which is not at all ideal... do I just have a lemon hood or is this normal for this hood...? A: A POSITIVE follow up for the Vello Hood on my 60mm Oly lense - when new I found it hard to slide, however it has freed up with use and slides well now. I like that the hood can be pushed back over the lens for storage without having to remove it. A good buy =)

A: The color is different and not an exact match. But is fine and works well.

Q: 8. can this hood be put on in reverse for storage?

A: By design it retracts completely on the lens so you do not have to put it on reverse. I tried anyway but did not succeed. May be I did not try correctly but in any case it would not be easy! But because of the retracting design you do not have to do that in any case. It retracts completely just by pushing it back. Putting it reverse would not buy you anything in term of length of the lens. It is a pretty nice design, very convenient to operate.
