The dedicated Vello HN-22 62mm Screw-On Lens Hoodis specifically designed for use with Nikon's 35-70mm f/3.5 Ai-S, 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 Ai-S, 55mm f/2.8 AF Micro, 60mm f/2.8 AF Micro & 60mm f/2.8 D AF Micro lenses. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Q: 1. will this work with a Sony VCLHGA07B?

A: I am not familiar with the application of this particular product (Sony VCLHGA07B Lens). The specifications say 62 mm diameter. As far as screwing the shade onto the lens, it should work from that standpoint. As far as providing the proper amount of shade for this focal length, it should. This is a wide angle lens shade, and I have not used this particular lens. The worst performance, I would think, that you would expect would be slight vignetting around image edges. I am not saying that vignetting would happen; I am saying it is a slight possibility. Keep this in mind; filters, shades and lens dimensions with the same diameters are interchangeable among brands. I have had good success with Sensei products from B & H on various brands of lens.

Q: 2. Is this lens hood compatible with the Nikon Z 40mm f/2 SE?

A: The Vello LHN-HN52 Dedicated Lens Hood (52mm Screw-On) is compatible with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 (SE) Lens.

A: As long as your filter has front threads of 62mm you can use this hood in front of it.

A: Yes a circular polarizer can still be used while the HN-40 is on the lens.

[Plastic] I bought this because the Nikon brand hood was not available. This one is just as good. Nice material and finish, and threaded on both sides to either stack on a filter or add the filter on top. Deep enough threads for Nikon cap to fit securely. 5

[Plastic] Nikon charges extra for their hood for the 15-50 DX lens that comes in the Z50 kit. The Vello hood works well and costs less. 5

[Plastic] At half the price of Nikon's optional hood for the 16-50mm, it is perfect. Strong metal. No vignetting. Threads in front for filters, or use a filter in between which makes turning a polarizer or variable ND hassle free. Still compact, which is the point of the Z 50 and Z fc with the 16-50mm. Protects the lens, too. Should have been included with the lens. 5

[0.09 lb] This hood fit wonderfully. I wouldn't expect it to prevent lens flaring under specific conditions, but I very rarely shoot at angles that contribute to lens flare anyway. This provides me with a bit of lens protection, and the small size allows me to stuff more equipment when on the go. 5
