But because of the retracting design you do not have to do that in any case. It retracts completely just by pushing it back. Putting it reverse would not buy you anything in term of length of the lens. It is a pretty nice design, very convenient to operate.

A: A POSITIVE follow up for the Vello Hood on my 60mm Oly lense - when new I found it hard to slide, however it has freed up with use and slides well now. I like that the hood can be pushed back over the lens for storage without having to remove it. A good buy =)
