Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this compare to the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 Lens? (especially cnsidering it's cheaper, has more focal range and is a slightly faster lens)

A: Hi Dominic, while the 24-240 will be slightly faster at 24mm (f/3.5) it will not be the case as you zoom in. The 24-105mm will benefit from a constant f/4 aperture throughout. It is also part of our G series which benefits from a better image quality as well as more controls present on the lens.

Q: 2. Does it have a Quick Detach socket on the bottom?

A: There is no QD socket only 1/4" and 3/8" tapped holes for mounting to non-quick-release tripod heads and monopods.

Q: 3. The barrel of the 100-400 expands and contracts as the focal length is changed. What happens to the barrel cover when this is done?

A: The cover section for the extended barrel on the lens has velcro so you can easily remove it when you need to zoom in. This piece was designed to be used only when the lens is fully extended.

Q: 4. I use this lens with my Sony a6000. I have noticed lately that this lens has been rocking or twisting back and forth (in the same direction as if I am adjusting the zoom). Is this something I need to be concerned about and take in to get serviced? What could cause it to do that?

A: I am running this lens with an a6000 as well, and I have had a small amount of play in that direction since day one. Mine will rock back and forth less that 1mm if I play with it, but I've never noticed it when actually using the zoom ring or focusing. If it is getting worse I would call Sony. Since this lens hasn't been out for too long I bet yours is still under warranty and that they would fix any issues for free. Even if it is out of warranty it shouldn't cost too much to be serviced. I've had them service a lens before, they have you send it to Precision Camera--they got it back to me pretty quick. Might be a good solution if you don't have a shop nearby.

Q: 5. When mounted on a tripod, will the 453g Sony a6500 easily support this 780g lens?

A: I have the same lens on my Sony alpha ar7ii. I have mounted on a small potable manfrotto tripod that is only 12 inches from ground. I had no issues. The tripod is small but sturdy and can hold the weight...

Q: 6. will this fit on a ReallyRightStuff ball head?

A: Hi--yes, that foot is compatible with RRS ball heads.

Q: 7. The 100-400 contracts as the focal length is changed from 400-100. How does the barrel cover contract when the barrel becomes shorter?

A: The cover section for the extended barrel on the lens has velcro so you can easily remove it when you need to zoom in. This piece was designed to be used only when the lens is fully extended.

Q: 8. Does the Lens Foot incorporate Quick Detach socket

A: I'm sorry, no it does not, only 1/4-20" and 3/8" threaded holes.

Q: 9. Will this fit the peak design travel tripod?

A: Yes this can fit the Peak Design Travel Tripod.

Q: 10. Can you turn off the image stabilization to use with a tripod?

A: Hi Mitchell, after you have attached the lens on to the camera, you can go into the camera menu to turn off the OSS (Optical Steadyshot) to use the lens with a tripod.

[0.38 lb] I've been quite surprised how much lighter the 200-600 feels with this foot compared to the stock foot with an arca plate attached. I was able to hand hold the lens all the way through a 6-hour long air show no problem.

[Neoprene] Excellent in use so far. Why doesn't the lens maker use something like this to begin with.

[0.38 lb] Well made, sturdy lens foot for the Sony FE 200-600mm lens. A great value, much less than the other premier accessories available.

[0.38 lb] This is a great alternative to the original Sony provided product. Sony and all manufacturers of lens foot mounts should be doing this (yes, this would affect manufacturers of this type of accessory).

[Neoprene] Very happy with quality and fit of the Leofoto lens foot. Nice, secure and the longer foot base makes it easier to carry.

[Neoprene] Thanks to this foot, which helped attach my 200-600mm lens to the equatorial mount. Thus, I was able to follow the sun during the total eclipse

[0.38 lb] Easily installed. Provides a stronger and more flexible foot for this lens than the original foot does.

[Neoprene] Most foot replacements use an external tightening/loosening knob. This foot uses an Allen wrench, and I am so thankful because foot replacements with a hand-turning knob always get in the way when carrying camera and tripod over my shoulder. Once a foot is mounted it will stay put and who needs a hand-turning knob. Love it -- nice and compact and functional. I use them on Sony 100-400 and 200-600.
