[5600K] Smith-Victor brand Daylight LED proves You get what Ya pay for

[5600K] The color temp of this LED light is 5500 - not higher and not lower - for all 3 of the ones that I own. The color rendition for skin tone is excellent on my Sony A7S3. I have used two as a Key pushed though a silk. The color and the overall light is excellent. I only wish they made a brighter (more output) version. Maybe a 24 will be their next one and I would buy it if it ever happened!

[Yes] This light can easily be used with a reflector to take portraits anywhere.

[Yes] I need a couple of extra LED panels and didnt want to spend a fortune. These came in a carry case (well padded) had two stands and AC kit plus they work with the Sony NP batteries I already have. These are great lights with a built-in diffusion, and they have a nice even balanced spread - I used the for side fill on a backdrop and they worked just as well as my more expensive lights. They are very light-weight so the small stands are great with a small sandbag. We ran them constantly for about 11 hours on AC and they ran cool and quiet. Used them on another shoot running on battery (takes 2 x batteries) for about an hour and they were fine.

I’ve been using yongnuo air 600 LEDs for basic interviews and I wanted to improve a bit. Those lights are half the price, but you have to buy a separate mount.

This light is brighter, a bit larger, softer, and more sturdy than the yongnuo. Color is great too. I used it without any extra diffusion and it was surprisingly soft. More so than I expected. The mount is very sturdy.

I used it for an interview yesterday and it was a great key from a couple feet away. We put it on a boom to get it above the talent and close to them, without getting the stand in frame. We used it sideways, which I think helped it wrap around the face more.

Overall I’m very happy with it. After using it yesterday I’m keeping it. I just need a small basic kit for lower budgets interviews.

[5600K] I'm not super into equipment and I've never reviewed any of my purchases before, but I think this light deserves it. For my simpler shoots where I don't want to set up my Aputure 300d and light dome, this is doing the trick SO WELL. It's so tidy and cool looking and streamlined and the output, to me, seems great. My only complaint is that the 1% level is actually kinda bright!

[Yes] I had some smaller rectangular, side lite LED lights that have been using that are LEDGO or something, which are also good, but not as bright and not round. This should make nice catchlights in the eyes if I use it in such a way. I wish there was a nice power block tether like the LEDGO lights have. Kind of a rubber thing that hangs off a knob on the light stand to keep the power brick from dangling. I think this had some velcro that came with it but that's defiantly not the same or as good.


I actually haven't tried it with the batteries yet, but I assume it would be the same. If not, I will report back and take off at least one star if not.
I know they make a color temp variable version too. I wish this would have been it, but it was on sale and I can deal with daylight balanced light.
