The generous 55 lb load capacity of the RTH-1050 enables the smooth positioning of almost any type of camera, ranging from simple compact models up to heavy camera-plus-lens combinations, with stable and secure results.

The locking knob includes an integrated tension dial that sets the minimum amount of friction on the ball. This ensures there's friction, even when the main locking knob is disengaged. This feature assures control of your camera and lens when you need to quickly unlock and reposition the ball head.

The Arca-type compatible quick release plate allows the camera and lens set to be quickly mounted. It incorporates a bubble level for precise horizontal alignment, and a +/- 25mm scale for precise quick release plate positioning. The included AQR-60 quick release plate has a D-ring 1/4"-20" mounting screw, rubber traction strips to prevent camera rotation, and security pins to prevent it from accidentally releasing from the mounting platform while being positioned.

The panning base operates independently from the main tension knob and features its own locking knob. A highly visible precision scale adds simplicity to panoramic imaging and creating repeatable results.

For exceptional strength and stability, the RTH-1050 head is constructed with aircraft-grade aluminum that can stand up to demanding use and travel and perform at the highest level. All of the control knobs are cross-hatch knurled for easy gripping.

The base of the RTH-1050 ball head features an industry-standard 3/8"-16 mounting socket machined from corrosion-resistant brass, making it compatible with virtually any tripod leg set. The socket is made from reinforced brass to resist wear for long life and reliable, secure tightening.

Quickly change the camera orientation from landscape to portrait using the 90° notch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, does anyone know what is the difference between Benro B2 and Benro IB2 Ball Heads and which is better?

A: generally the ib2 is rated for less load. the b2 is slightly bigger and maybe better build.

Q: 2. Is the RTH-1050 compatible with the Robus CC-001 Center Column?

A: Yes. The Robus RTH-1050 Triple Action Ball Head is compatible with the Robus CC-001 Center Column for Vantage Series 3 and 5 Carbon Fiber Tripods.

Q: 3. Can the clamp be removed and replaced?

A: Yes, the clamp can be removed and replaced.

Q: 4. What is the diameter of the base?

A: The base diameter on the Benro B2 Triple Action Ball Head is 54mm.

Q: 5. Is Robus RTH-1050 made in China?

A: Yes, this product is manufactured in China. :)

Q: 6. Does the B2 traction control have ”clicks?”

A: No " clicks"

Q: 7. Will this fit a Nikon D7100?

A: Justin:Unless your cam weighs more than 17.6 lbs (not likely) and DOES NOT have a 1/4 -20 tripod screw hole (also not likely) in the bottom then it'll work.fine. (The screw hole is pretty standard on most (all?) DSLRs and other camera types, too.) What you might want to put on the bottom of your camera is an L-bracket so you can easily attach the cam to the tripod head since the head uses an Arca-type plate. Talk to customer service to get the right bracket for you camera.

Q: 8. Will this tripod head fit on the oben at-3421 legs?

A: Yes. The Oben tripods have a reversible stud to accommodate 3/8 and 1/4 mount heads. This head has 3/8 threads for mounting.

Q: 9. What Nodal Rail will fit the RTH-1030. Is Nodal Rail from Really Right Stuff MPR-CL 5.7 or the Acratech Nodal Rail an ok fit?

A: Yes, both the RRS and the Acratech will fit the Robus RTH-1030 Triple Action Ball Head. Both of those rails are arca compatible and will work with the Robus that is also arca. Main thing you want to look for is how long the lens you are using. You want a rail that is similar to the length of your lens and camera. If the rail is much longer it may appear in the photo if you are using a wider angle lens. If the rail is too small you might not be able to place the center of the lens over the center of the tripod.

Q: 10. Why is this ball head not recommended for use on a monopod?

A: Typically ball heads offer too much motion when unlocked, which can be hard to handle when using a monopod. With only two hands to grip onto the camera or lens; monopod itself; or the head/tension release knob, using a ballhead could make it difficult to secure the lens in the correct position/orientation. Alternatively, using a monopod head limits the motion to a single axis via the primary tension knob, making it easier to adjust for tilt while not giving you any hassle with pan or roll.

[Yes] I have used the tripod and this ball head a few times including photographing the recent partial lunar eclipse. The ball head is solidly constructed, its main knob is well-placed and I have confidence that my camera and long lens are stable during use.

[+90° to 0°] I'm a full time architectural photographer and I've been using Manfrotto gear for many years. I recently read a very positive review of the Robus RC-5570 Vantage tripod and the RTH-1050 Triple Action Ball Head. Since I was due for an equipment refresh I decided to switch to the Robus system. I absolutely love both the tripod and the ballhead. The huge ball in the head is easy to adjust, and once I dial in my positioning just a slight twist of the lock knob secures the head in position solidly. No more cranking the knob as tight as I can to ensure there's no movement. The 55lb weight limit is awesome too, My R5 with the RF 28-70 2.0 is locked in solid despite being a fairly heavy piece of glass.

[2 lb] The look and feel of this piece of gear is outstanding. It is extremely well made, easy to use, very precise and I highly recommend this ball head. It will handle just about any camera you place on it. The controls are very finely precise for precision work. Every time I use it I ask myself why I never purchased this years ago. Looking forward to using this ball head for years to come.

[Yes] I needed a new ball head for my new Robus RC-8860 tripod. I wanted something reliable, able to hold at lest 20 pounds and without limitations. Most heads I have used in the past all had something I felt could have been better or missing. Everything about the RTH-1050 hits home for me. It has a nice large base that makes it easy to use and provides great support. The large nicely finished ball looks and works as well as any premium head I have ever used. The controls are a nice size with very good grip to use in any conditions with ease. I love the integrated tension control in the main knob. It provides great control WITHOUT HAVING AN EXTRA CONFUSING KNOB. I like how well the tension is controlled with the tension control while the main outside knob will lock down the ball in less than a quarter turn. The 90 degree portrait orientation notch is very accurate. And I was concerned about how tight the pan tension was when I first tried it. But after I spent some time spinning the head , it got better. Then after I put a camera and lens on it felt free but well dampened. There isn't anything I can find about this head that I can't give high marks. I find it hilarious that some take points off because of the bag that comes with this head. While it isn't a nice leather case, it isn't bad. And in truth, most real photographers will keep it in a Pelican case when not mounted on a tripod. And all a nicer case or bag would do is to add unnecessary cost. Where do you want your money spent, on better kit purchased or getting accessories you may never use!
