Q: 7. Are these Sensei Rubberized (ie. steel coated with rubber) wrenches worth the extra cost over the plastic ones? I'm asking in the context of 58mm filters, but also just in general.

A: Yes. I've had the plastic ones break. These probably won't ever break and the rubber coating is sticky and grabs the filter better. I own them in 3 different sizes. Definitely worth the extra cost.

Q: 8. Is this worth the extra money/weight over the Sensei plastic versions?

A: Yes the rubberized wrench is better than the plastic versions. You get a better feel and can use more strength with the rubberized ones. I bought both and ended up using just the rubberized steel one. But it also depends on how tight the filter is stuck on the lens. Unfortunately for me, my UV filter is pretty stuck on the lens since it's been there since I bought the lens so neither rubberized or steel wrenches worked to get the filter off. That being said I still think that purchasing the wrenches was a good idea and if I had to do it again I would just buy the rubberized ones. Hope this helps.

A: Yes, this Catlabs Large Format Lens Shutter Spanner Wrench can be used to tighten the shutter ring before screwing in the rear element of a large format lens.

[0.13 lb] Great product; well made and durable. So superior to old flimsy plastic filter wrenches that used to be only game in town. If you use filters, sooner or later one will become stuck, and at a very inconvenient time. Quickest way to solve the problem is with the appropriately sized wrench you can depend on.

[0.13 lb] Unlike some all plastic versions of this type of tool, these are metal and have a good non slip coating that grips filters/adapters well. They cost more, but they work.

[0.13 lb] Had a 82mm threaded filter get stuck on my 24-70, this took it off effortlessly and without any fear of damage. Worth the cost, hopefully something I don't have to use often (or ever again) but if another filter gets stuck I know I'll be safe.

[0.13 lb] I had a 46 mm step down ring stuck on a lens reverse mount adapter and could not twist it off. This wrench got it off in a flash. The downside of aluminum, even the high quality aircraft grade aluminum that a lot of camera equipment and lens filters are made of, is that it can stick. These wrenches have a good rubberized coating that grips the filter and leaves no scratches.

[0.13 lb] I was expecting some light plastic wrenches. These are substantial metal construction with an industrial tough rubberized plastic coating. Unexpected high quality
