The tan Countryman B6 Omni Lavalier Mic for Shure Wireless Transmittersfrom Countryman B6 Omni Lavalier Mic for Shure Wireless Transmittersis a very small lav microphone measuring one tenth of an inch in diameter. It can be used to capture audio for theater, broadcast, house of worship, and general lavalier applications.

This version offers the highest gain for general speaking such as in presentations or sermons. Built with a low handling noise and rugged construction, the B6 lavalier microphone can be easily hidden in a performer's hair or on costumes, ties, or behind a shirt button. It can also be attached to eyeglasses, for a secure, discreet, and convenient alternative to hair miking. The ultrathin diaphragm deliver a natural sound while its tiny size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection. The B6's aramid-reinforced cable terminates to a TA4F connector for direct connection to Shure AD1, ADX1, AXT100TA4F, GLXD1, PGXD1, QLXD1, and ULXD1 wireless bodypack transmitters.

Additionally, the included swappable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with a protective cap, which can be quickly removed for cleaning or replacement.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B6 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B6 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B6 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 140 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat-frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B6 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Standard, for most uses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the mic head of Shure BLX188 Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Mic adjustable to the position of the source of sound? Will the mic capture the sound when the speaker turns the head sideway?

A: The lapel microphones in the Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System feature a directional (although wide) cardioid pickup pattern. When clipped to the collar, they should capture the speaker's voice in most orientations when the lapel microphone is oriented in an upward position, although perhaps to a lesser effect if the speaker turns their head.

Q: 2. This will work with Wirless go system?

A: This microphone is incompatible with the RODE Go

Q: 3. Can both of the microphones work at the same time? Can you connect additional bodypack transmitters, and run all of them at the same time?

A: The Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel is what is known as a dual channel system. You get 2 mic's but 1 receiver with 2 outputs. Yes you are supposed to use both mic's at the same time. That is the purpose of the system. You cannot expand on the system.

Q: 4. Will these work for stage singing, i.e., a musical with four singers, in both open spaces and closed venues? Thanks

A: This system could be a viable option for stage performance, but it depends on a few factors. First, know you will need 4 of these systems to allow for 4 wireless mics to run at the same time. Second, you would need to confirm which frequencies are available in your performance area, this would tell you what frequency ranges to use and whether this system can hand 4 mics at one time. This can be done using Shure's Wireless Frequency Finder. We would recommend giving us a call at 800-606-6969 to assist in finding that information. Lastly for musicals, you'd probably want a lower profile lav mic you could hide on the performers head, or in a costume. Here's a recommendation for that type of mic BH #SHTL47TOMTQG.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Shure Beta 87A microphones?

A: Compatible with all Shure SLX-D Series wireless transmitters as well as the SB903 rechargeable battery

Q: 6. does shure BLX88 mix sounds from the dual XLR inputs?

A: No. There is no mixer functionality.

Q: 7. will it work with the Poulson lav mic?

A: It truly depends on which Polsen lavalier microphone you have. You may want to consider a more universal option from Rycote; B&H# RYOC.

Q: 8. This says "antenna diversity" so how does that compare to true diversity?

A: The Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System only specifies "microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity" but does not get more specific on the type of diversity implemented. This article provides a good explanation of the differences in diversity types: https://bit.ly/3J80yOw

Q: 9. is any of the three available frequency bands less vulnerable to interference? I want to use them in a deposition setting that changes from day to day from high end conference rooms to witnesses homes.

A: I can't speak to the 3 different band versions, but I can say that each version has a wide array of sub-bands you can choose from. Further more, the receiver has a function where you can have it select the sub-band with the least amount of interference -- it scans every band and then sets itself to the cleanest one. You then just set the transmitter to match. It has worked very well for me.

Q: 10. Does the receiver have a replacement battery, or it needs a power supply cable to work?

A: The Shure BLX88 Dual-Channel Tabletop Wireless Receiver in the Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System does not offer the ability to power via battery and requires a Shure PS24US Power Supply to function properly.

[Tan] I like these wireless mics better than the Sanken COS11-D that I previously bought for my Lectrosonics L Series. They may not have the fidelity of the Sanken mics, but they are very clear sounding with nice low end presence (without it being too much). I prefer these lavs over others for their all around great sound while being extremely durable.. These can withstand heavy use, while the Sanken COS11-D metal windscreen quickly was scraped and dented in regular use.

[Omnidirectional] Needed a quality mic to record some interviews for a historical video series. Paired with my Sennheisser system, this little mic worked great. This is my 3rd Countryman mic and all seem solid. I'm happy with it.

[Omnidirectional] Very good in general - great for the cost. The B3 pairs well with the Senheisser G3 wireless packs. It sounds better than 'starter' mics like the ME2. Sanken sounds a bit better but costs a lot more. I think the B3 is in the sweet spot for moderate budget TV and film. The capsule tips included help shape the sound.

[1 to 2 V] I like the flexibility of this product in that it enables varied positioning. All that's needed is tape specifically designed for attachment to skin and in my case the upper cheek of my face. It has clear sound and is comfortable to wear.

[Omnidirectional] You get what you pay for. We all know this. These mics are perfect for talk shows, commercials, guided tutorials, etc. Buy a few extra tie clips and you can clip them at multiple spots to keep the mix secure if your talent is moving around. We already own 2 of these and just bought 2 more to outfit a bigger number of people on screen.

[Omnidirectional] I have a Sony wireless lav and have gone through 2 Sony lavs due to the poor design of the cable going into the connector. Talked to a B&H audio consultant on the phone and she suggested the B3. Definitely seems to be a lot stronger at the connector.

[Plug-In Power] I'm a professional video guy but not a professional audio guy. I was having issues trying to hide big ole mics that probably shouldn't be hidden (due to size and causing clothing noise because of that). A professional audio friend of mine recommended this mic and I'm so happy that I bought it. Easy to hide, beautiful sound. I couldn't be happier. I bought this to use with my Sennheiser G3 wireless system. I would buy this mic again without a second thought.
