Designed for birders and nature enthusiasts who need to move fast and light without being weighed down by large cumbersome optics, the ZEISS 8x32 Victory SF Binoculars | High-Performance Opticsprovide an immersive observational experience in a compact and lightweight housing that combines exceptional optics, a powerful magnification, and a wide field of view.

The optical precision starts with SCHOTT Ultra-FL extra-low dispersion (ED) fluoride (FL) lenses that virtually eliminate distortion and chromatic aberration while increasing contrast and color fidelity. Compact Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms are more compact than conventional prism designs and are coated with ZEISS' P* phase-correcting coatings to limit light loss and increase color fidelity and contrast. All of the optics are fully multicoated with ZEISS' anti-reflection T* coatings. These greatly reduce light loss and maximize light transmission to create bright and clear images. The glass, prisms, and coatings all work together to create images that are clear and bright without distortion across the entire wide field of view, while colors are accurately represented with high contrast and crisp resolution.

This SF version of the Victory binoculars feature the Smart Focus system. Unlike conventional focusing wheels that require users to turn the knobs as many as 2.5 times to transition from the minimum to the maximum focus distance, the SF system only requires less than two turns. This means faster and easier adjustments without sacrificing focus precision if your subject moves or you change subjects. The binoculars are designed with ergonomic balance to reduce the feel of the weight in the hand, which reduces user fatigue for comfortable viewing during long observation sessions.

The housing is made from a lightweight, durable, and strong magnesium alloy. A double-hinged, open-bridge design provides a larger surface area for gripping while reducing the overall weight even more. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for waterproof and fogproof performance, giving them a waterproof rating to 400 mbar of pressure.

  • Moderate 8x magnification brings subjects in close for viewing without narrowing the field of view or shortening the eye relief, greatly improving viewing comfort
  • 32mm objective lenses straddle the line between compact and full-size to offer the compact form factor of the former with the performance of the latter
  • Schmidt-Pechan roof prism design enables the use of thinner optical tubes without affecting performance for easier and more comfortable handling in a more compact overall form factor
  • SCHOTT Ultra-FL extra-low dispersion (ED) fluoride (FL) lenses virtually eliminate distortion and chromatic aberration while increasing contrast and color fidelity
  • ZEISS' proprietary anti-reflection T* lens coating increases light transmission for brighter images
  • LotuTec lens coatings protect the objective and ocular lenses from dirt and dust, resist scratches, and bead off water and oils
  • Ultrawide 67° apparent angle of view allows the user to view wide areas of the landscape with little head movement while helping to minimize the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics
  • 467-foot field of view at 1000 yd

  • Open-bridge / dual-hinge design provides more grip room without sacrificing strength or stability
  • Fast focusing mechanism allows the user to go from the minimum focus distance to infinity in under two rotations

Q: 1. My binoculars did not include a physical limited lifetime warranty document in the box. Is this because they offer lifetime warranty?

Q: 2. Can you explain the T* in the model name, Zeiss 8x42 Victory SF T*? I am not seeing it on the Zeiss website.

A: T* is the name give to the multi-layer coating which allows good viewing in low light. And they are excellent in low light.

Q: 3. The angle of view is quoted as "6.7° (Actual)". Can this be right?

A: The actual angular field is 8.89 degrees. This is determined by dividing the field of view at 1000 yards which is 466.87 feet by 52.5 which equals 8.89 and a very small fraction.

Q: 4. Where are these made? Thank you.

[32 mm] I use binos mainly for birding. I had a pair of Leica 10x42 Ultravids for 11 years. Looking for a new pair, I was all set to get the newer Leica Noctovids, but did some research first and wound up with the Zeiss Victory SF. (Killer stat for me was the weight difference). I am very pleased with my purchase. The optics, ergonomics and build quality are absolutely superb. I know, you would expect this for the price, but still, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like the new ones.

[-4 to +4] After reviewing several binocular configurations I decided on the Zeiss 10x32 Victory SF. The field of view is incredible and I love the weight and balance in my hands. Plus the eye relief of 19mm is perfect for an eyeglass wearer!

[Center] Superior design and optical performance combines with ease of use, great balance and handling. Added magnification enhances overall performance without offsets. There’s more than enough field of view for tracking and locating and weight has not been a factor.

[4 mm] These are a big upgrade from my Zeiss Conquest 8x30 bins. So far they are as described, and I had little trouble getting used to them on a recent 3-wk trip. They have that same Zeiss feel that I'm used to!

[3.81 lb] The optical quality is second to none. Ergonomics are amazing, the difference is evident even when compared to other high-end binoculars from Zeiss. The binocular shake while glassing is so well dampened by the distribution of the weight towards the eye that for the 10x42 the image is less shaky than high-quality 8x42 binoculars. The field of view for this 10x is almost as wide as your average 8x binoculars and it focuses down to about 5 ft in front of you. The model is designed mainly for bird watching and nature observation, however, I use it for other purposes also (on a boat, for example) with no issues whatsoever. The image is highly corrected and flattened, but unlike other high-end binoculars, this one doesn't give me a headache or vertigo after I use them for a day. The 10x gives additional reach over the 8X with very little compromise in optical quality and I highly recommend the 10x42 over the 8x42, as the FOV is still plenty wide.

[-4 to +4] I recently bought and rated these binocs as 97/100. But I've discovered they are even better! (except they still rank 97 because of
the too-few eyecup detents).

Today we have perfect clear weather and I was looking at some close birds. I noticed something.

That is ... and as far as I can tell, no other reviewer of any binocs or refracting telescopes has noticed this ... the to me infuriating
lateral chromatic aberration (red-blue primary or green-violet secondary fringes) away from the center depends on the subject distance. Presumably it also depends on the setting for the focus distance difference between your eyes, which for me is zero so I can't check that.

None of my top binoculars are designed so that this aberration is zero at infinity focus. Its something in the range 15 to 50 feet.
For these Zeiss ones its actually zero at about 15-20 feet. Beyond that its green-violet and closer its red-blue. Still, at infinity its better than the competition.

So, at one focus distance, the optical performance of these is actually truly perfect visually. I've done a bit of optics design in my time. Getting that and the small variation with distance is really amazing, and it really does costs what these cost.

[32 mm] I have been a customer of B&H for at least 20 years. I could not ask for a more reliable company to do business with. My newest pair of binoculars are great., especially the close focus feature. They are solidly built and all of their other features are superb. I would certainly recommend these binoculars and B&H for a most satisfactory experience.

[Schmidt-Pechan] I'm no binocular expert but I've been birding regularly and intently for about 7 years. As much as I've enjoyed my Nikon Monarch 5s I decided I was ready to buy my "last pair of binoculars". While I had initially planned on sticking with 10x42s, the weight of the highest quality options was daunting. These 10x32s are exactly what I expected when it comes to optical quality - super clear and bright even in dimmer conditions. The weight and size is also nice though I'm having to get use to the different feel in my hand. Glad I made the decision I did and I'm hoping for years of fast and light birding enjoyment.
