The black Countryman B2D Lavalier Mic for Audio Technica Wireless Transmittersfrom Countryman B2D Lavalier Mic for Audio Technica Wireless Transmittersfeatures a lightweight 0.18-ounce body that was designed to be discreetly mounted and can be used for miking news anchors, actors in a film or theater setting, lecturers in a school or house of worship type environment.

The B2D's tight hypercardioid pattern gives the mic an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omnidirectional lavalier mic, which means less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations when using multiple microphones.

This version offers the highest gain for general chest-worn applications such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the B2D lavalier is equipped with a detachable cable that terminates to a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-T5201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

With its small size and sensitivity options, the B2D can easily hide behind a shirt button. This makes it invisible for film work, theater, live shows, or any other application.

Natural vocal reproduction and a tight polar pattern make the B2D ideal for broadcast and is a dependable workhorse you can count on to perform night after night.

The isolation clips minimize clothing and vibration noise while allowing 360° of rotation for easy positioning of the microphone.

This microphone is tuned to a frequency response that is natural and intelligible at a wide range of distances from the mouth. It delivers wonderful sound quality on the chest (8-10" from the mouth) or towards the collar (3-4").

Standard (gray band) for most uses

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm intrigued by the M-S setting, which Lisa described as traditional stereo. I'm wondering if the mic is set to MS, whether it could be used to mic two people sitting very close together for an interview. Possible?

A: The Audio-Technica BP4029 (AT835ST) records in M-S Mode and Left/Right Stereo Modes. Yes you can use it to interview people sitting very close together, up to about 5 feet away from the mic at the very most.

Q: 2. What is the diameter of the shaft? I'm wanting to mount this in the mic holder on my Sony PXW-X70. It appears the mic holder would require a diameter of around 15/16 inch or 25mm. If the BP4025 shaft is narrower than that, are there mounting kits available to work with pro-level handles on cams? Thank you!

A: The mic holder attachment on most cameras have a diameter larger than most available microphones. We do offer a solution that allows mics to fit securely in these mounts. The ROCS Rubber O-Rings.

Q: 3. Which capsules are in this microphone - cardioid or omnidirectional? If you use this microphone to record close quiet sounds and whispers, at a distance of about 5-15 cm from the capsule, will it have a strong effect of proximity and distortion, or will it be normal?

A: The capsules in the Audio-Technica BP4025 microphone are cardioid. This microphone would capture whispers at that distance very nicely.

Q: 4. Hi If I need to record sound effects and a quiet voice at a distance of 5-30 cm from the capsules, will the stereo image still be clearly present? I mean a clear separation of right and left.

A: Yes, because the Audio-Technica BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone uses two individual capsules and offers the ability to keep the signal of each capsule independent of the other for individual recording, it will capture a stereo recording and depict a stereo image of the sound source it is oriented towards.

Q: 5. Can any 5-Pin XLR Female to 1/8" 3.5mm Stereo Jack can be used to connect the AT BP4029 to Canon R5 camera? If so, which one do you recommend?

A: The Audio-Technica BP4029 (AT835ST) - Stereo Shotgun Microphone requires power from 3-Pin XLR inputs to operate properly and cannot connect directly to a 3.5mm input on a camera such as the Canon R5. A small camera mixer such as BH #SASRPAX1 Saramonic SR-PAX1 Two-Channel Audio Mixer, Preamp, Microphone Adapter would work to achieve this setup properly.

Q: 6. Is it possible to get a shorter cable for this mic?

A: Yes, shorter XLR 5-pin female to dual XLR 3-pin male cables are available. The cable included with the miic is 5-feet long. We do have a 6-inch Sennheiser ACS5 5-pin XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y Cable (B&H # SEACS), an 18-inch Remote Audio 5-Pin Stereo XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y-Cable (B&H # RECAXSTE), and a 4.9-foot Lewitt DTP 40 Trs - 5-Pin XLR Female to Dual 3-Pin XLR Male Audio Cable (B&H # LEDTP40TRS) that will work with the BP4025 microphone.

Q: 7. Does this connect to Zoom H5?

A: Yes if connected via the included 24 (0.61 m) Cable (5-Pin XLR-F to Two Standard XLR-3M Connectors)

Q: 8. This mic can output both X/Y channels to each XLR cable, so I'm going to use it on a recorder like the zoom f3. Should I set the phantom power of each channel to 24V or 48V? Or is it both possible? The specs say '11-52VDC, 7mA typical (both channels total)' confuses me. Because this mic outputs two XLR cables, is it calculated by adding up the phantom power of the two? Please excuse the beginner's question.(24V+24V or 48V+48V ?)

A: The dual XLR outputs of the Audio-Technica BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone should both be connected to XLR input sources with phantom power engaged. Although 48V is the most common, this microphone will work with input sources offering 11-52VDC from each output.

Q: 9. Could I use the phono pre-amp to plug bookshelf speakers such as the Sony SS-CS5 directly to the turntable, or would I need an additional receiver?

A: Passive bookshelf speakers like the Sony SS-CS5 3-Way Bookshelf Speaker (Pair) BH #SOSSCS5 require power from an AV receiver or amplifier. They cannot be connected directly to this or any other similar turntable.

Q: 10. Hard Question but what would be the similarities and differences between this mic and a mic like the Audio-Technica 4053 or the Audix SCX-1. Do all of these mics try and achieve the same effect? (because im hoping the BP4025 would be best both outdoor and indoor) . Are all these mics trying to achieve the same effect? If so which is most effective?

A: The Audio-Technica BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone has some significant differences to the Audio-Technica AT4053b Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone and the Audix SCX1 Studio Condenser Microphone, with the main difference being its X/Y Stereo Pickup pattern. The BP4025 is a great microphone for capturing environmental sounds, ambient audio, or in any scenario where a stereo audio image is desired. The AT4053b and SCX1 are both mono pencil condenser microphones. The AT4053b has a directional, hypercardioid pickup pattern and the SCX1 has a slightly wider cardioid pickup pattern. Both are well-suited for studio and live audio recording and reinforcement applications and less suited for field recordings.

[Hypercardioid] I have a Sony wireless lav and have gone through 2 Sony lavs due to the poor design of the cable going into the connector. Talked to a B&H audio consultant on the phone and she suggested the B3. Definitely seems to be a lot stronger at the connector.

[Hypercardioid] I used this to replace the mic that comes with a Sennheiser ew 100 G4 and love the size. I have used a Countryman B3 wired mic for years.

[Plug-In Power] Needed a quality mic to record some interviews for a historical video series. Paired with my Sennheisser system, this little mic worked great. This is my 3rd Countryman mic and all seem solid. I'm happy with it.

[Hypercardioid] Very good in general - great for the cost. The B3 pairs well with the Senheisser G3 wireless packs. It sounds better than 'starter' mics like the ME2. Sanken sounds a bit better but costs a lot more. I think the B3 is in the sweet spot for moderate budget TV and film. The capsule tips included help shape the sound.

[Hypercardioid] I like the flexibility of this product in that it enables varied positioning. All that's needed is tape specifically designed for attachment to skin and in my case the upper cheek of my face. It has clear sound and is comfortable to wear.
